Sunsetsrbest comments on Help! VISA help needed... Oh, almost forgot... Since I have yet to ever receive any real advice or helpful suggestions in any of these forums since I joined (recently) it is logical to assume that I will never receive anything close to it or anything apart from the school locker room gossiping and bullshit. I suggest two things - first think before you speak because you all know that in real life none of you have the balls to speak like this, and secondly don't bother writing me because I simply cannot spare any more of my busy life and schedule trying to filter through the endless crap here in the site to locate the occaisional pearl of wisdom. Oh, sorry... almost forgot... BAQ - eat shit and die

Sunsetsrbest comments on Help! VISA help needed... Understood... I understand your points and as usual BAQ you make your points with the wit of a prepube... that's cool though... sorry you misread the intent of the post and you read desperaition where none exists. Guess you are waaaaaaaaaay too good for me, waaaaaaaaay better then me in every way I am sure. Tell you what... thanks for the advice... kiss my ass for the personal comments... and last but not least don't forget to clean up after you unload so much shit. Sorry for the language but at this point - just be glad we aren't in the same room dude. I demand respect even when you criticize me... as for the pics- they are on my page or whatever the hell you call it here. And if you need proof, I'm not looking for a date- thanks anyway. For the comment on education? I guess 3 languages, 2nd year college studies, and a very good head for philosophy means nothing? Bet she would whip you in contest bro... as for several weeks... I own a place in Co bro and am there quite a bit- as well as many other places. I never said I was better looking than any of you either- that's your lack of self-esteem, not mine. Don't know you, and since I'm not cruizin for a date don't care what you look like either. As for well to do not marrying at 17 or 18... maybe not in your circles, doesn't mean it doesnt happen... just means you are around women who dont marry early for any number of reasons (spoiled, egos, ugly, who knows and who cares) Thanks for the advice- will consider it after I filter out all the bullshit and lame crap from people who assume alot and know little... yes- definately talking about you BAQ.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Help! VISA help needed... bobbyb... You hit the nail on the head... societal limitions and predjudices limit this, but the bottom line is most men are immature, and when they become mature, stable, and basically a good man to consider marraige and a life they are a bit older - say 30 and up. Even then only a few of them really have their priorities straight. The fact that some younger women are smart enough to know this and pursue men they know will be faithful, loving, kind and all the other meaningful things involved in a good family life that will last longer than the American "4 year itch" speaks volumes for their insight. I have seen the stats and I agree, it has certainly eased my mind as my typical American upbringing made me worry very much about the future of us in the beginning. Now I am comfortable with everything. Bobbyb has it right, and if it doesn't blend well, too bad.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Help! VISA help needed... By the way... As for BAQ... If what you do is hang out in brothels or seedy places where these women and men hang out, then maybe you are in your element to say these things- and I wish you luck with your bet and the impending STD you will aquire with it.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Help! VISA help needed... Thanks for all the good advice... To all who sent good sound advice - thank you very much. To the others with personal comments that show total lack of understanding of me or my situation - get a life.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Alliance of Cuba, Venezuela, and the FARC? against Colombia? WOW! What a concept... Yes, I am being sarcastic... Gee-zus man, hell of a conspiracy theory there! What does it matter when you can die tomorrow from the frozen sh*t falling from a passing 747! Now there's a conspiracy you should lose sleep over! Jajajajajaja! I mean there must be thousands of possible mixes and scenarios for alliances for and against the USA... in the end it's conjecture. Who cares?! If they align, screw 'em! If they don't, kewl man!

Sunsetsrbest comments on Manizales? Cali373 Great advice and thanks alot. I will definately keep this in mind when I travel there... would you say it is safer and more gringo-friendly than even cartagena? And I am sure you are coreect about the women- to be honest I have not found a place in south america yet that doesn't have a ridiculous amount of beautiful women. Pretty women is important, but so is education and loyalty, so I am more inclined to ask if the women there tend to be more loyal and educated than in places like cartagena? After all they have something like 7 or more universities in manizales- yes???
|
|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Manizales? shirly1981... I will be living in Cartagena or Barranquilla, so this will be a place for me to go to get a break. So for the things you speak of will be the norm, Manizales will be one of many breaks from the norm ;-)

Sunsetsrbest comments on Another option... If you don't mind a little cab ride the Hotel Intercontinental is quite nice and great security, etc. Money exchange, pool, the works. Wouldn't put it in the 5 star class, but it has a great view of the valley of Medellin. Also a really good club is Blanco Gato... just make sure you have a good driver that will wait for you or return quickly when you call his cell. You'll dig this dude who dresses up in a silver suit down by the mall and stands in the middle of the intersection doing the robot dance- it's a riot man!

Sunsetsrbest comments on importing my scooter HD FAT-BOY... Hey there, way glad to see this here as I was lookign to import my '72 FLH Fat-Boy into Cartagena. Guess it won't work. What about buying there? Anyone know the dealers there? Or maybe I can just ride the damn thing in from Panama? Love to hear the ideas anyone has...

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena or Barranquilla? quillero... Great suggestion and worth me looking into- I will look into the north side and compare prices- and maybe I will go to the beaches on the weekends- short bus ride and no biggie :-)

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena or Barranquilla? Dearest Sylvie... I hope you will read this with no malice as it is amazing to me how your comments are solely without knowledge of my circumstances and thus absolutely and solidly without any merit. Perhaps you should simply have said that jobs are difficult to find etc, and that maybe pursuit of a job first would be well advised?

Sunsetsrbest comments on Florida phone service... Mil gracias.... Great suggestions and advice. Thanks for all of your help and feel free to send any other info that you think would be helpful. One of the items I was curious about was a freind of mine who has a florida number that either calls directly or forwards to his cell when he is overseas. Can Vonage do this also? For me this would be perfect - when family calls the local number they will get my cell...

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena or Barranquilla? Santa Marta... I know nothing of SM, but am willing to consider all options. What is it like? How is the cost of living as compared to Cartagena? The people, etc... Would love to know. As for now it would seem that Cartagena is the general concensus - I agree. Any more help is appreciated - perhaps a local rental company that rents to locals and not the usually overpriced tourist trap?

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena or Barranquilla? Hunter... Good idea, this I will do. Any suggestions on inexpensive places to stay during my visits? I prefer to live as a Colombiano, not a tourist.

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena or Barranquilla? cachaquita... Thanks, I can always use guides and help. I was thinking of buying a flat in Cartagena (I found one for a good price on the playa), but maybe I should rent for a while and try both places? I am told rentals can be difficult because Colombia issues no credit (no matter how good mine is here) and getting utilities can be a real pain in the butt. I am also told that if I buy a place the utilities can easily be transferred to me by going to the offices with the current owner to sign the transfer over. I know this sounds like a samll thing, but having to "buy" credit from someone I do not know (guarantor) is not something I wish to do.

Sunsetsrbest comments on AN INTERESTING THOUGHT... COLOMBIAN PHILOSOPHY VS AMERICAN Cockney... Sorry to hear that man, and I hope next time you find a better attorney (if there is a next time for you). I understand what you are saying, but as my father always taught me "The best revenge is succeess". Nothing pisses off an ex more than you "non-coincedentally" becoming very successful after she is gone (jajajaja). But that is just one more good reason to enjoy the South American lifestyle... longer life in a happier environment. Not so many toys, but loads more pleasure.

Sunsetsrbest comments on AN INTERESTING THOUGHT... COLOMBIAN PHILOSOPHY VS AMERICAN Rubiazo... Sorry dude, no videos... but have plenty of pics if you are serious. And yes, I try to maintain at least 3 at the same time. I am not monogomous and I make sure all the girls I date know it and accept it. If they can't then I don't date them - period. Of course I acknowledge that they can see anyone they like as well. What is good for the goose is good for the gander- yes?

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on AN INTERESTING THOUGHT... COLOMBIAN PHILOSOPHY VS AMERICAN About the girls comment... I have 3 girlfriends and no intentions of marrying again- it was bad enought the one time I did it- Don't intend on repeating the mistake. And as to your remark: I am NOT moving to Colombia to "steal" your women. It is a crude remark and makes assumptions you cannot possibly know anything about.

Sunsetsrbest comments on AN INTERESTING THOUGHT... COLOMBIAN PHILOSOPHY VS AMERICAN Glass house - throwing stones? Great, I am laughing by your lack of understanding, tolerance, and total misunderstanding of my intent. I don't speak spanish well either, if you'd like I can butcher that for you as well... give you something to do on lonely nights. I intend no disrespect and, frankly, don't throw stones- you don't know me and it seems you are the one showing disrespect. Tell you what, if you can't be constructive and can only mutter childlike schoolyard taunts then have fun - I am here for serious conversations and am getting tired of defending my poor spelling... I admit it. Sorry, is it a crime to not be as perfect as you? If so, please tell me where it is illegal so I can avoid the place. By the way, just because I can't spell well does not mean I am any less than you... unless you are currently an executive with a 5.1 billion dollar US company- than don't bother. To all of you who have been kind to me and overlooked my errors- I truly appreciate it and you all have a good friend in me. I truly apologize for havign to post this to all of you as it just wastes all of our time playing these silly games when we could be really contributing. And yes, I probably made some errors in this message too... and?

Sunsetsrbest comments on Motorcycles/Scooters in Cities Motos... Eeeeoooowwwwwwwwwwww! I am moving to Columbia and either Cartegena or Bogota... and I was seriously moving my moto with me... maybe I should not? I have a class1 Superbike Suzuki Katana that is highly modified for racing (one of my hobbies) and love my bike. It will do 155mph easy without blinking and I love it! It is definately way to big to keep in an apartment, and I definately don't want to get killed for it or on it.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Colombian Women please help, Culture barrier! Dumbgringo... My first suggestion is not to worry about the "grand gesture" because what will impress her more is sincere apologies and actually fixing the problem. I think you also need better friends, where you won't feel you have to impress them, or be a part of the group only if you humiliate your wife. It is a basic self-esteem issue on your part, and a bad choice in friends. Sounds like the only good friend you have is your woman... maybe spend more time with her and less drinking with "the boys". Trust me, you won't be less of a man, and anyone that says so has no self-esteem and little self-confidence.

|
Sunsetsrbest comments on AN INTERESTING THOUGHT... COLOMBIAN PHILOSOPHY VS AMERICAN Whatever... All I have to say is this: I have been trying to explain to my friends and fellow executives here in the states why I want to "throw everything away", as they say, and move to Columbia to live a simpler life... NOW I CAN SHOW THEM THIS! This tale says what I want to say perfectly.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? North vs. South... Thanks for the advice Platano. There are several sections of the noth side of Bogota... is there one or two to avoid, or is all of the norte fine?

Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? santibog... Great, now I have 2 of you English majors to listen to. I do not spend time worrying about perfect GRAMMER, nor do I worry about the spelling at 3am in the morning, but I DO anticipate people will help me with my INTENT - and I am happy most people here are being helpful. I wish you luck also, but please spare me the deconstruction of my grammar and writing structure - "forest for th trees" ok? Anyway, thanks for your efforts...

Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? Entertainment... Sorry to hear that... here I was actually thinking I might actually have found a place to real information. How silly of me to think that. Thanks

Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? The Pope... Can't help you with that one, but I am pretty sure he wipes his ass with trees - yes? (jajajaja)

Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? Sorry folks... Sorry folks, at 3am it is tough to see, much less spell well. Anyway, my comment was for the individual who managed to not answer the question and instead devote time to fairly unconstructive critiques. Thank you for the help from the others who did give me answers - it is appreciated.
|
|
Sunsetsrbest comments on Is Bogata safe? What? Well, putting the "holier then thou" stuff aside, you managed to not answer the question. With so much knowledge at you obvious disposal certainly you can expound a bit for the rest of us "unwashed". Thanks for the constructive crticism and best of luck to you with you grammer school.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Choosing a liposuction surgeon in Bogotá Barb.... Generally people who are looking to save alot of money will seek out these procedures in Columbia or Costa Rica, but I will tell you that most of the women I know who have had such procedures done will do one of two things... 1)spend the money and get the best (it's your body after all), or 2)save the money and go to Venezuela. The doctors there do a great deal of the work for most of the people in South America (including complicated transgender procedures), and you should be able to find a competent facility there also. If nothing else, it's worth taking your time and investigating.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Cartagena business climate Hi there... I am in the same pickle man... but so far what I have dicovered is the clientele is great in-season (tourists), and the season is generally 7 - 8 months long (drops off signficantly after that). Mostly Europeans and some locals and Venezuelans. If you target the Euro-tourist market you probably have a shot with a recognizable name or brand, but if you are looking for local clients you will have to be unique.

Sunsetsrbest comments on need a place to live I am in the same boat... Moving to Columbia in August and need the same thing- 1 bedroom though is fine for me, and just need a safe place for me and my moto (a fine suzuki katana built for the racing circuit).

Sunsetsrbest comments on my wife is increasingly aggressive and is hard to live with Just a guess... Dude, first think of this... big dreams of life and love in the "promised land" of the USA... then all is shattered by a baby right out of the box. Maybe she wanted a career or something and is generally pissed at life... and of course you because you got her pregnant. Don't take this the wrong way - it is just how she might be seeing it, you know? On the other hand, maybe she's just bi-polar and the doc can fix that quick. My ex was bi-polar and the med's helped her alot - same mood swings and all. In any case discuss it and seek medical help if you think you need it... a violent and easily irritated mother is not good to have around a baby- a baby is alot of stress in of itself and will test her greatly. I'd fix this quick for the baby's sake. Good luck.

Sunsetsrbest comments on Colombian women have a big heart but they must become more aware Crazy man... craaaazy Hola! I have dated Columbiana's and women from every other place around the world...to be honest I have not noticed anything different in them then the women from anywher else in this area. When they are young they generally trust too much, and let's face it- in a new country, of course she's going to depend on this guy (human behavior - not immaturity dude). I will admit though that women from around the world generally think USA is the shiznit, and do not realize just how difficult this culture can be... with money and power comes stress, heart disease, and a pretty unhappy life for the most part. Life is the same here as anywhere else, just different problems, but problems nonetheless. Frankly, I love Columbia and am moving there soon - giving up the "golden egg" of the US for the happiness of a culture that worries more about love and life than money and power. Hey - just my opinion ;-)
