Just make sure you have required paperwork before going and get all docs you will be using `appostilled` this is a seal from the foreign office to say the doc is genuine for use abroard also may need to be translated - all details in my post. Any help you need let me know and maybe we can talk it over on the phone.

Kalder - Embassy point - yes very true. They see everything and if you are lying they will trap you with very simple techinques. Church point - spoke to our priest ( Catholic ) and he said they see no other marriages as valid. I did not get the marriage annulled. It was a Church of England marriage so if that is Anglican then no idea how we did it. We did get to speak with the Obispo ( Bishop ) in Bogota and he asked us some questions at the request of our marrying priest in Bogota but upon seeing Divorce certs and everything we given the clearance to marry in Bogota - it was a lot of paperwork and running around though.

Alright not marriage visa ( my terminology ) - Husband / Wife visa. http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1098377252550 Reply to Kalder - I was married in Anglican church - non Catholic and therefore not recognised by the Catholic Church as valid.

stevep69 comments on My 'maybe future' girlfriend to UK

Jumbo, I was recently in a situation like yours. I met my girlfriend ( now wife ) in the UK - she is from Bogota and was visiting her sister who is married to my mate. My mate had to go out to Bogota and visit the Embassy with her and also prove he had funds to support her ( so she would not be claiming benefits etc ) and also state that the visit was purely cultural and not for money - she was granted 6 month visit. She flew in via Air Canada - had to get a transit visa which they granted with no problems. You can also fly via Madrid and I heard recently that Iberia air will soon be flying direct from Bogota to London so that will be good ( if not a bit cramped! ). Best of luck and let me know if you need any more advice - we eventually got married in Bogota ( with all that goes with that ) so everything is possible!
