StateSide comments on Colombian Attorneys and Divorce process. Azul and MiamiMike please read My GF paid a lawyer apx. 200usd to start her divorce papers. It has now been over two months. I do not understand their process but all I have seen so far is a copy of the papers filed and sent to a judge. I am now am being told that "next week" we should hear something from the judge. I have been told this for 4 weeks now... My GF only gets the reply..."next week maybe" every time she contacts the lawyer. I do not know how things work there but I would assume that there would be some way of tracking progress. surely there is some sort of process and time frame associated with it. Any suggestions on how I can find out the status or what the f#* at is holding this up???

StateSide comments on Vonage... $80.00 per month for unlimited calls??? I just spoke to Vonage and they tell me that I can order DSL for my GF and then with their 14.95 plan for her and 14.95 for me we can talk unlimited between the two landlines. With these plans we will also recieve 500 minutes each for calls from our vonage phone to the other persons cell. My GF does NOT have to have a computer it is optional. The DSL line will plug into the vonage switch and she will simply plug in a regular telephone and have her own number. If she chooses she can hook up a computer and use it also on the DSL. I already have DSL so I am not considering my expence in the following. Her DSL $50.00 My Vonage $14.95, Her Vonage $14.95 for a total of $80.00 for unlimited calls... That aint bad. Has anyone done this???

StateSide comments on Back from Bogota Utopia My GF worked at one of the Universities for 10 years and also helped a private teacher that lives next door to her mother teach spanish after hours. One of her other sisters spent years traveling and speaks three languages (english, spanish and mandarin of all things). They hava a diverse family, one is a network engineer, one a digital graphics artist and one a nurse. I guess some of the english language wore off on the rest of the family.

StateSide comments on Back from Bogota Details Clyde17: I met my GF on the internet. I am not one for trouist trap places. Like here in the US, Bogota has it's share of them also. I prefered to visit less crouded places. We did go to Central Bogota a few times when I was looking for some specific things like a new memory card for my camera or a usb cable to download photos to her pc, but Central Bogota was too crouded with street pests! The few places I went to and enjoyed that are popular with Colombians was the Bogota Museum of History (interesting) and Catedral De Sal in Zipaquira, which was pretty cool with the exception of the freakin uphill walk for what seeped like miles!

StateSide comments on Back from Bogota CaptainHowdy I thought I knew what my GF looked like too. I had seen her in pictures and we spend at least an hour daily on webcam. The one thing about pictures and webcams is they are two dimentional and do not show off roundness very well. I thought I knew exactly what to expect but I was wrong. My GF turned out to a lot better than the webcam and pictures portrayed. Hope you find the same...good Luck

StateSide comments on Back from Bogota Thank you butthead! I need to add here a comment to one of my friends from PBH. He knows who I am referring to. Thank you for taking the time to call me while in Colombia and give me ocasional advise. It was nice to hear a familiar voice from the US during this time!

StateSide comments on Calling colombia yet again...? Azul ... Yes I made it back from Bogota. I had a wonderful time. I will definately go back. I stayed in the FAR south side because that is where my GF lives. I was surrounded with women cooking and men passing me beer. I was treated like a King by her loving family. I think I have been adopted! I was greeted at the airport by my GF and her two sisters all in Black mini skirts. Boy did I draw a croud of onlookers. I felt like I was in a Peter Gabriel video. I saw a part of Bogota that most avoid. We drove all over day and night and when we were not being driven by family I got to experience Bogota public transportation. I had absolutely no problems while I was there. The only day I was advised to stay inside was when Bush showed up on Sunday. I was advised that it may be best to just stay home with family and have a few more beers. I think I gained 10 pounds while I was there. I do not think there was one Colombian traditional food that was not prepared for me while I was there. Most of my GF family speak fairly good english and the children got a kick out of helping me learn Spanish. I hated to have to leave! I will start making plans to return to Colombia this summer.

StateSide comments on Azul... Care to elaborate a little... OK would someone please explain what Azul was refering to when he said above thet unlimited calls to a Colombian landline was only $35.00 per month. I have viewed their website and can not seem to find anything about this. I am spending about $200.00 per week with www.pinplan.com

StateSide comments on Problems in Colombia with the law. Sounds like a prime oportunity for "Texas Rodeo Style" which is my prefered method.

StateSide comments on Consealed Carry Permit? el feliz Thanks for the input. Is that your post "Problems in colombia with Law", but under an alias name? These two posts seem to fit like a glove. And I noticed it a little funny that you El feliz was the first to respond to the post "Problems in colombia with Law" just minutes after it was posted.

StateSide comments on The Bogota Airport and a Woman from Medellin You are NOT crazy! I know the feeling all too well. I met a Colombiana on the internet and am going to Bogota to spend some time with her. These girls can absolutely screw your head up. You will never find a girl from the US that can ever come close. Be careful... There is some very good advise on this site and there is also some bad. In your spare time read what you can here and after a while you will be able to know who to trust and who not to trust. Also some of the people on here will more easily talk with you through e-mail instead of through this forum. Make sure you turn on e-mail contact. Look on the left of this post and read the topic Arriving in Bogota.

StateSide comments on US Biker is Colombia "Black Leather jacket and do-rag? Mario The length of my membership has absolutely nothing to do with the length of time I have been reading here. When you accuse me of judging, labeling and criticizing...? Dude, maybe you should start back at the top and read back down. I was attacked first and you did join in! I asked a simple question and was accused of being white trash, having a mullet, being an unsuspecting, semi-conscious gringo MF and from your own post "don't forget the arm bands and the William Wallace Braveheart braids". I don't care how many times you have been to Colombia if you can't give good advise and resist joining in when others are taking cheap shots for their own amusement, then you too will be labeled as NOT Creditable! Dude maybe you are the one who should rethink some things. The above text speaks for itself!

StateSide comments on US Biker is Colombia "Black Leather jacket and do-rag? Thanks Paisa I can expect a certain amount of criticism from an open forum like this. Before I ever posted a topic I knew in advance the ones who would attack. When you read throughout the topics there always seem to be the same few names making comments in poor taste. I will make sure I read more of the ones you post from now on.

StateSide comments on US Biker is Colombia "Black Leather jacket and do-rag? Vic The idiots are the ones who when asked a simple question can not give a straight answer without attacking someone.

StateSide comments on Colombian Attorneys and Divorce process. No entiendo comunity assest????? I do not understand when you say comunity assets. Are you refering to the acumlation of property (assets) that they have continued to collect even while they are seperated? Also I have been invited to come to Colombia and spend a few days with her. Is this a problem with her being seperated? I don't need to get arrested on my first visit to Colombia.

|
StateSide comments on Colombian Attorneys and Divorce process. No Assets left after living seperate for five years. They have been seperated (living in seperate locations) for five years. There are no assets left to divide.
