My name is scott and im australian who has lived in peru lima for the past 6 months. Im a travelling to medellin in 1 week and have decided to stay in el poblado as a friend has recommended this area. My questions are concerning the dangers of discos and bars. Im curious as to the element of safety from returning from these places at early hours of the mornings. I have travelled many places in latin america ecuador, el salvador, panama, chile and only encountered problems in el salvador. where i was robbed by 2 men of a gang, frightening experience cosidering i had nothing on me at the time to give them. I find living in peru i have had no problems due to taking precautions. Any advise you can give me to a person travelling to colombia for the first time would be appreciated. I travelled to la isla de San Andres and many people reccomended for me to visit this part of colombia until then i never had know desire.
