smiles92600 comments on Condoleezza Rice says Plan Colombia to be abandoned! Scalestick Hi Scalestick. I like your way of thinking. I think we are probably very similar in our political/worldly views. It's good to know that I’m not the only one from a so called developed nation that thinks in these terms. I'm not a religious person, but I imagine if their is a god out there, he/she would want the needs of the many to be fulfilled before the luxuries of the privileged be provided. When my countrymen say "God bless America", I always wonder why aren't we saying "God bless the world".

smiles92600 comments on Condoleezza Rice says Plan Colombia to be abandoned! Scalestick Hi Scalestick. I am an American and while I am always hesitant to express my political opinions on the internet, I have to admit that I do not agree with U.S. goals in SA either. I am not a communist or anything, but I dream of a peaceful world in where wealth is more evenly distributed. I think us Americans are pretty selfish. My comments were related to what I believe the U.S. capatalistic government wants, which in turn fosters our support for Plan Colombia

smiles92600 comments on Condoleezza Rice says Plan Colombia to be abandoned! Rice in Iraq Another reason I doubt it, is Rice arrived in Iraq today. When was she supposedly quoted. As Mr. Hollywood said, she was an advocate for Plan Colombia right after she returned last month from Colombia. Bush is also a big Uribe supporter. And I think Bush and our goevernment knows that with the present conflict with Venezuela and other potential left wing governments taking over in South America, now is not the time to abandone Plan Colombia.

smiles92600 comments on Condoleezza Rice says Plan Colombia to be abandoned! Agree with Mr. Hollywood My gut feeling is that this story is bogus. I am of the opinion that our government believes we need to continue to fund Colombia. Not because Plan Colombia is reducing in any way the amount of drugs that make it to the U.S. But more importantly, South America is seing a re-assurgence of Leftist/communist governments. So our government is smart enough to know that it is in line with the U.S. capatilistic goals that we keep Colombia as a close ally. Colombia is a big powerful country in South America and the U.S. needs them as a key allie. This is not to say I agree or disagree with the U.S. goals in South America

smiles92600 comments on Colombia at the Oscars!! Let's go Catalina!!!!! You people don't understand the Oscars There are too many politics involved to let her win. They won't let a foreigner in her first big film win. Besides, while she played the part well, it was too easy a part to play. She didn't have a tremendous amount of lines. She was very inverted and silent in much of the movie (which was appropriate) but the part wasn't big enough to warrant an Oscar.

smiles92600 comments on ColOmbia vs. ColUmbia It's only spelling I'm a bit perplexed how anyone can get annoyed by someone else misspelling a word. The point is communication. If you can understand what someone wrote, even though misspelled haven't you accomplished "communication"? It just seem very prudish for someone to get annoyed by others misspelling. I'm college educated, but type and spell very badly and don't see the need to use spell check when simply chatting as is the case in this website. It’s not like were writing an essay that will be graded. Don't we have better things to get annoyed about???

smiles92600 comments on 27 Americans kidnapped, 2 killed - in Mexico Less Likely in Mexico One thing to consider, 99% of the kidnappings in Mexico have occured in Mexico City or the boarder towns. Traveling in tbe interior of Mexico is very safe. Can you say the same about Colombia?

smiles92600 comments on COLOMBIA INVITES BOUNTY HUNTERS Is this a Joke? Anyone with formal military or black ops training knows that this is suicide. Plain and simple, no single man or even small groups of the best trained forces could accomplish this. If they could, it would of been done years and years ago. Don't think the US hasn't already had many many black ops missions that failed in Colombia. The FARC are too well fortified. The only way to to defeat the FARC militarily would be all out war and help from US forces. And I mean it would take 100,000 or more highly trained forces to truly oust the FARC.

smiles92600 comments on Hotel Recommendations Me Again Also, what would be the coolest, funnest and safest hotel in Barranquilla? FYI, I viewed the recent posts, but most seem to take price into account. Price is not a concern.
