in our culture, we love our children enough to instill self-sufficiency and independent spirits in them, and try not to be so selfish that we would sacrifce these qualities to our own selfish interests......plus, the ability to get laid in our own beds when we're adults. ;) while you can claim whatever pleases you, simon - i have known PLENTY of single latinas who would MUCH prefer living on their own - except for incurring daddy's wrath for leaving his house before marriage. your platitudes are cute, but my experience shows me that this tradition is FAR more about control than love...

i have yet to understand why anyone would glorify a tradition of people in their 20s-40s still living with mommy and daddy. i can understand economic necessity...but if the offspring have the economic means to be independent, what's so wonderful about staying in the parents' home? strikes me it's just a failure to instill self-sufficiency.

i skimmed the first 30 pages. what struck me first was the sheer volume. interpol says that at 100 pages per day, it would take a person 1,000 years to read everything there... it seems to me the debate has moved from authenticity of the files to interpretation. basically, a pissin' contest over semantics. prolly similar to "we know he did it, we just can't prove it in court"...
