When I studied at EAFIT, the standard of teaching was pretty good but I guess this comes down to the teachers. A course cost me 600,000 for level 1 Spanish, It lasted 2 weeks for 3-4 hours a day. I have to admit, I enjoyed being rigorously searched by the female security guards every day.

You know, at one point when calling them, a girl told me I had dialled the wrong number and was to call in on another number.....she then gave me the number I had dialled. I spoke with HSBC yesterday, they seemed much more helpful.

Applying for a spouse visa is a lot easier than applying for a fiancee visa I'd imagine. This was a few years ago when we applied but we followed the guidelines from the FCO website and believed we had the correct docs and evidence. Unfortunately, the ECO was a woman called Julie Soper and she decided that she wasn't 'satisfied' and deffered the application. So, after a few phone calls I was told that by the Consul Nick Miller that, Julie 'isn't very good with people'. Naturally, I enquired why someone who isn't very good with people is dealing with 'people'. Then Nick disappeared up his own arse, obviously realising his terrible blunder. So, after a few letters of complaint to the Deputy and the Ambassador and then the Home Office in the UK - they conducted an investigation to find out why Julie Soper was shouting her lungs out at my missus. They investigation concluded that the microphone in the Embassy was 'broken' - so she had to shout until veins popped out of her forehead. I questioned why the interpreter never felt the need to shout and everyone at the Home Office went a bit funny too. I got a nice letter back saying that my missus should attend the Embassy. Hey Presto - they issued the visa and a nice chap from the Embassy even called me to confirm. If you are engaged/married to someone from the UK - if you get in their faces, you'll get a visa.

Hej Ken, You know, they should close down that Consulate, it/they are completely useless. Mrs Maria Mercedes is one of these cColombians that thinks working in the honorary consulate puts her on a par with Queen Elizabeth. She spoke to my wife like she was scraping shit off of her shoe. On a separate occasion, I called and spoke to her (i thought he English was laughable) regarding information about a visa extension for myself, she made absolutely no sense when she spoke and I eventually just said "Can I speak to someone that actually speaks English?" She pleaded that she spoke 'the English, very well' and I laughed at her and asked to speak with her superior. I spoke to some guy, whose English was a little better and he said he can't really help as the consul is only really there incase British people get in trouble. He said he would pass me back to this Maria woman and she could give the the phone number and address for DAS. He passed me through, she hung up. I called back and told her she was a useless cow.
