Shifty comments on Going to barranquilla

Tom, I always recommend Hotel Versalles. They have a variety of rooms at different prices. Plenty of places to eat close by, if you don't want to eat at the hotel. I always eat out, less money and good food. Have a great time, and e-mail me if you have any questions. Shifty

Shifty comments on getting married in san andres

San Andres wedding You can contact the notary in San Andres, I don't have his name and no. at the moment. Yes you can marry on the weekend. If you want a nice wedding on the beach or other place, there is a nice lady that will help you with all that. She will arrange everything for you.
I can get the no. and address of the notary later if you want to do it yourself. Best wishes to you both. Shifty

Shifty comments on Barranquilla anyone?

What happened to me? Shifty139us I went to hospital emergency room for extremly high fever. Among othr things they did a spinal tap and did not give me any instructions on what you should do after a spinal tap. I developed extremly bad headaches, so bad I wanted to shoot myself. I went back and they did another procedure that they said would take care of it, and again no instructions. They said I could be backto work in a day or two, but I should have been lying flat on my back. Stiil having headaches and couldn“t get in to see any doctors for 2-3 weeks so I took a bunch of pain pills and come here. I knew I could get help here.

Shifty comments on Brief travel guide to Baranquilla

BAQ First, I would never stay at Hotel Magestic. I stayed there once and found the service very poor. Also, they were not very friendly. Porto del Sol is nice if you want to spend a little more money. I prefer Hotel Versalles for the price, (about $35.) and friendly service.
There are many good places to eat, from very inexpensive to very expensive. I like to go to the small open air cafes. Crepes and Waffles is good, and Mag Mondongo has very good soup. I actually eat a lot at the grocery stores. The food is good and reasonably priced.
There are many places to go around BAQ, just ask. There are some nice cabanas on the beach near Salgar. The zoo is nice too. There is somewhat of a train that takes you to the mouth of the Magdelena River, fancy it's not, but is good time. Check out Porto Colombia, Colombia's first port. If you want to golf, there's a golf course near the beach. I never run out of things to do around Barranquilla.

Shifty comments on Cheap hotels or hostels in Barranquilla?

Barranquilla Hotels I have stayed at several hotels in BAQ, and I prefer Hotel Versalles. They are adding on but they told me the old rooms will still be the cheaper price. You had better hurry or you won't find a cheap room for Carnival. Shifty

Shifty comments on Marrying in Colombia, requirements

To marry in San Andres If it is true that all you need is a passport to marry in San Andres, that is what I will be doing. Then we can return and have a reception in Barranquilla with her family.

Shifty comments on Bogota / San Andres / Barranquilla

Barranquilla Hi, I've been to Barranquilla several times. A nice hotel for a good price is Hotel Versalles. For good food at a cheap price eat at the large grocery stores. Some restaurants are, Crepes and Waffles, Medendarro, Mi Vieja Barranquilla. There are some nice Cabanas near Salgar, on the beach a few miles from BAQ that are good too. Go to Puarta Colombia, which is near Salgar.
You might want to go to Crocadilla. There are Alligators,Crocs, Iguanas, and some other animals there. It's on the river a little way SE of BAQ.
Another hotel I really like is Porta Del Sol. It's more money but it's nice. Have a great trip. Shifty
