I've seen the PBH travel guide that suggests a float down the river Magdalena ending in Barranquilla but have been unable to find anything on people's experiences doing this. After spending a few days in Bogota and a couple in Villa de Leyva my boyfriend and I plan to adventure towards the river to find where to get on....any suggestions? I know the guide suggests La Dorada, but I have a feeling we will be further north of there when we want to get on the river. Can we just get on wherever north ...
I've read that typhoid, yellow fever, hep A/B vaccinations are required especially in the national parks. Malaria pills? I'd love to hear first hand experiences about health when traveling to Colombia. I plan to be spending a lot of time on the Caribbean coast and entering a couple nat'l parks, possibly taking local boats down the river that leads to Barranquilla...
Also, are mosquitos a big problem?
Thanks! ...
Hola a todos! I've been reading on the site lately, been very helpful, thanks to everyone. Going to arrive in Bogota the 27th of June and will leave the 7th of August...does anyone know about any holidays/festivals that will go on during this time? Gracias! ...
