scottiec comments on Mexico, Cocaine, Venezuela, Chavez, the DEA, Colombia?

We need to.... We need to spend MORE money on the "Drug War" that will fix everything. They seem to forget, when you have customers looking to buy,YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE SALESMEN , NO MATTER WHAT THE PRODUCT!!! But THAT is not what they "REALLY" want....Scott

scottiec comments on “My First trip to America”

Shirly,I am sorry..... I am sorry for what has happened to you. I am a gringo living in Mexico and I am afraid that we (gringos) are getting worse,we are being force-fed lies about others (other peoples) and dont tkae the time to research what we are hearing. We are too busy working six days a week to bother with what is against the status-quo. I do not live and will not live in the U.S. again, there are wonderful people ALL over the world and we won´t/can´t find out if we dont start thinking for ourselves. Sometimes the people with less are MORE genuine and are truly happier than us even with the Navigator in front of our big house. I hope to be going to Colombia soon,I speak pretty good spanish (Mexican) and I hope the people realize I really am eager to learn and respect all. Remember not ALL gringos are the same...(I could tell you stories about Mexico) Ciao Scott

Finally visiting soon...... Hi Everyone, I am finally going to visit Colombia,I will probably stay for close to a month. I will probably stay in Barranquilla for a week or so. I now live in Mexico and I know that asking someone that LIVES in Colombia would be the best. I am very interested in naturaleza, waterfalls, politics, history and culture..the REAL stuff not the touristy stuff. If anyone that lives there would be willing to write me and pass information on these things,I do want to go to Cali,Bucaramanga...I am white,VERY gringo looking,so yes safety Is a concern, but I am not a scaredy type of person. Please help me pack as much into my month as possible,I am looking for another place to possibly retire/live in the short term future, but this trip its to get to KNOW Colombia as best as possible in short order and yes I speak Mexican Spanish (people say its different than Colombian Spanish? Thank You Very Much , Scott

scottiec comments on hips don't lie?

its the same as.... This video is the same as in the movie Zorro, with Katherine Zeta Jones,so beautiful and when Antonio Banderas cut her dress and it fell, its one of those moments where men nudge each other with their elbows (with one of those smiley face ,toothy grins) and say " Look AT THAT " !!!!!! OH and the words.......what words?

scottiec comments on What Strato are you and your wife-gf-amiga con derechos?

Los Stratas... Aji,wonderful words. I live here in Mexico and here if you can afford a BMW or more ,its like you receive a blood transfusion and are no longer the same blood as the "other" people. It sucks, now after three years here,I kinda couldnt care less , what BMW comes out with....M3 or not. I like your words crying and naked, that pretty much sums us all up!!! I wish I could find a wife like yours,I am actually thinking about looking for a wife down there. Its the appearance thing as well as all the other things I read about them. Take care....................y holas a todos

scottiec comments on Where can I find other foreigners to chat with?

just about the same..... I came here to Mexico "thinking" I knew ,what I was getting into. Boy , if I knew what I know now (after three years) I probably would have chosen another country, and thats BEFORE the "war". I am thinking about going to Colombia and I read religiously the posts here. I did the same with Brazil and chose to start thinking seriously about Colombia again. Now I do speak pretty good Spanish,I know alot about latin culture and I do not compare "them" to us,but in efficiencies in the work place I do get "alittle" frustrated. I still havent decided on what to do for a job,I am not looking to get rich , however I do want a job that I can advance with time, skill and experience to provide for me and my future wife and kids (I still have not met her yet). I wish some of the people would think alittle more before they post and then the people that respond might not be so vicious. Thank you to all of the people who really try to tell the truth (be it through their own eyes)and help us out here in internet land who are curious and (now ) are trying to research their next move. It is so much better than NEVER having the interest in other countries and culture. After all,in regards to Colombia, you might think the FARC are waiting at all airports for gringos like me and that the sell cocaine at the 7-11. I am the only one in my (small) family that chose to leave the states and I have no other example in my life to plant the seed , I just got frustrated by sitting in my car at least three hours a day getting to and from my job and no its not LA its Houston for christs sake.....Thanks again to all...Scottie

scottiec comments on Did the FARC ever do anything positive for Colombia?

what is going on? I login,I read a subject here and when I respond ( sometimes ) when I try to post it tells me I am not authorized to use use this site....Is someone pro-U.S. reading my posts before I can get it on here? or is it time limit, I do not use bad words or attack anyone , I get alittle pumped by my emotions on the subject and then after everything is CAREFULLY thought out, WHAM!! NADA todo para nada!!!
que paso ? what gives....Scottie

scottiec comments on MAC IS BACK

Hello GringoD.... I am planning (researching first) to go to possibly Barranquilla for about a month (it is flexible) and for the length I need to be alittle thrifty. Where did you sleep or how much can I expect to pay for an average (some hot water to bathe, locking door,a bed and kinda in a secure area) hotel,I (if someone would take me ) would even consider staying in a hospice or someone living there. I could stay in a two star (if there is such a thing) as long as it was alittle close to the other places....I need help in this area. From anyone really,I am thinking about BAQ because everything I read the people from there are the friendliest.....I am Very White so I want to stay away from the mountains....ha ha and my dad is a retired machine operator.....so I think it would turn out bad if I was coersed to stay with my new FARCing friends......(I do not know if that is a bad joke) Please any help would be greatly appreciated...Scott

scottiec comments on Women traveling to Cali

mee too..... I have been here in Mexico for three years LIVING not visiting,I have come home late from clubs, gone to rough Cantinas, have gotten in word ¨fights¨ but being smarter and less ëmotional¨has pretty much kept me out of trouble. I have traveled from Los Cabos to Cozumel, from Manzanillo to Matamoros and everything in between and pretty much nothing has happened , I have more problems with my (several) bosses and the way the expect to be able to treat employees, here it is real ugly being an employee, there is ALOT of reasons why they cross the border.Being White ,intelligent, experienced, great for business, here it does not matter, when your below someone they (probably) will let you know who is boss and crap on you. There is a local "dicho" thats says here is like puppies, instead of everyone going to their own nipple to get milk, they will fight for yours and push you down , just to be above you. Its kinda farfeched.......but , darnit its true. I am now thinking about another country, that is why I am here on this site......researching.......good luck, keep your eyes open and enjoy, being a tourist, countries tend to be "prettier" than they really are ,but for me,I would rather KNOW the culture ,than just being a foreigner, taking pictures and leaving and not know the "sabor" flavor of life. For me,politically,I cannot stand the U.S. but because of the flavor of life here in America de Latinos , I could never return and LIVE in the states again. Try to learn things about the culture, history, local myths, foods, these things can increase your respest and you enjoyment of the people and the culture. If your politically adept,go to a university and talk to an English speaking professor and learn (at least ,from his/her point of view) what has happened in the history of the U.S. and the Latin American countries.....it might be an eye-opener.....but learn how to cook something simple that you really like from there and when you get back, you will always appreciate your memories (good and maybe bad ) I will be going soon maybe for a month or so to learn more about Colombia......again good luck......

scottiec comments on Finally saw my first real crime in Medellin this weekend

movies... The positioning/holding of the gun sounds like a flava thing like you would see in the movies....I kinda would like to know in what movie was first time someone held a pistol sideways.....Now its CHIC....

scottiec comments on Finally saw my first real crime in Medellin this weekend

probably not smart.......... Well it probably was not smart, but like you said you were a ways away and we (from larger first world countries ) think (albeit)differently. Thank you for trying to help , when typically in these other countries, people think of oneself first. (more of a self-preservation instinct) I have been here in Mexico for three years, have been all over the country alone, both on motorcycle and in my truck and have had few situations. Just another question what do you do for a living there,or do you work, how long have you been there? Thanks again .

scottiec comments on Lets Talk Cartagenta and Costal cities

first time here... I am extremely interested in going to BAQ, but I would like to go for close to a month. I would like to find an affordable but safe place to sleep. I do not care about room service,as I will never be there except to sleep. I am not a rich american,so yes budget is a word of mine. I would like to meet/talk to people that live there,I currently live in Mexico and am thinking about changing to some other latin country. I came here not truely knowing what I was getting into and do not want to do that again. Another thing, does anybody have an idea about the quantity of English speaking foreignors or Colombianos en BAQ. I am interested in BAQ because of everyone saying they are the nicest (and believe me I need some NICE people in my life). I would like to someday buy a small sailboat and and sail every weekend with my beautiful morena (which I still need to find),like to marry. Thank you for any information concerning these things. I speak Spanish pretty good , but, as I have read,it is probably very different... Muchisimas gracias a todos...Scottie
