If you have money they treat you very well but a friend of mine ,who is a poor Colombian in Medellin, was stabed while waiting for a bus. Once they sewed her up they discharged her with just bandaids on the wounds and no antibiotics. There is a difference in Colombia where the poor get crappy treatment.

When the city of San Francisco decided to drop its program for people infected by HIV and aids patients because it was costing too much and was bankrupting the city. The Catho;ic took it over and completly funded it with health care, housing & counseling making it an example for all others. There is also an organization called the St. Anthony Foundation that feed at least 1000 people twice a day, and has temporary housing for just as many. They also run several houses for men and women trying to overcome the bondages of drug & alcohol abuse, and never charges anyone a dime. But does anyone give them any credit instead they say they hate gays & are discriminatory. Thats just two examples in San Francisco there are many more just in that city alone, & they do the same thing all around the world. So get your facts straight because it sounds like you who criticize and attack the church are the ones who are narrow minded and abusive.

How about this scenerio, the Farc knowing about the dispute between the Colombian Goverment and the Panimanian govt. over San Andres Island. They saw an oppotunity and were trying to start hostilities between the two thinking that it could only help the FARC to have the Colombian army fighting Panamanians and taking the pressure off them.

Always get anyone you chose to give you a price upfront on everything, remember you can always say no. He is an English speaking taxi driver that I met while in Medellin, and has branched out. He has purchased a new much larger car (not a taxi) and is providing side trips outside of Medellin around Colombia for a very reasonable price. He asked me to spread the information that he is more than willing to take you on excursions to Manizales, Pereira, Armenia etc. to enhance your Colombian experience. He still has his taxi that you can hire for the day or night for very cheap. Call him ahead of time tell him when you are going to arrive & he will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to your hotel or apartment. He charges 60.000cop I have used him before and his services made my Colombian vacation much better, since I don't speak spanish his help was invaluable and he really knows the area. Copa has the fastest flights from LAX To MDE with an 11/2 hour layover in Panama. Panama to MDE flight is on Aero Republica. Copa does not charge for meals. Copa has 2 movies on their LAX to Panama leg. If you hit it at the right time or go through a consolidator their prices are good. I really like COPA and their call line is very helpfull.
