sandra_pas comments on Trip to Ecuador and the south

hello i lived in quito when i was like 12 for like 3 years, my father used to drive from bogota to quito to visit our family cause im from colombia, i dont remember much cause i was too little, but popayan is a nice city, i dont like pasto that much but is a nice city, and after u cross the border its ugly all the way to ibarra, tulcan is horrible, the highway is not that bad, but my advice is that if u want to take a good memory back u should go to quito from popayan to pasto i think is 6 hours or a little less in bus cause you have to cross a mountain, ibarra is aabout three to four hours from the border and 2 from quito i dont know any pricing sorry i cant help u with that, about the papers youre right thats how it used to be but i dont know, u need to ask cause theyre asking for more papers because of a problem they had with the colombian border, but im not sure, from the border to latacunga theres about 8 hours cause you have to cross quito. guess thats it hope u enjoy your trip

sandra_pas comments on Poorbuthappy Get together

people i agree with the idea of meeting, and i noticed you are all concerned about the security of meeting in a place where most americans, gosh i hate that word we are all americans, but this is english stuff so, anyways where most americans dont go to,
just thinking.... we cant go to a bar cause we dont know each other so we wont know who the hell we´re meeting with,
so i prefer lunch or lets go to oma o juan valdez hell i dont care but lets go to a place where we can see our faces and talk to each other, u know its a MEETing, lets go to a mall, to a park, to a museum, lets go to a theater, let go to centro chia or salitre plaza, im just naming things, not a suggestion just an example, anyways we need a date and a place a decent one where all of us locals tourists foreigns visitors or whoever goes feels safe. sandraPAS

emilia, you can do volunteering here really easily, the thing is if you want to donate food and toys go to tejido humano o la cruz roja, these are places that gather donations and take to towns and places outside bogota and also to really poor neighborhoods in bogota and other cities, and share it with people that really need it you know living in misery, you dont see many of that in the city, so thats my advice, but if you want to volunteer there are many many foundations here in bogota ill help you
my mail is sandra_pas at hotmail.com

sandra_pas comments on How safe is it for a gringo to live in Bogota

ps: its a great place to live, and no worries about the kidnapping thing its not as shown on tv SandraPAS

sandra_pas comments on How safe is it for a gringo to live in Bogota

hey dont freak him, bogota is cold, is safe, i mean ive been here y entire life and havent been robed once, not once, just dont go to a cheap hotel, dont go south i mean i dont like it, i go as far a la candelaria, its far enough, and west and east but not south, i love it here the thing tourist dibt know where to be and where to go, so they end up in huge hellholes and end up hating the city,
walk like a local fast, like when you go to new york, dont look up thats how you can tell tourist, in every large city, walk secure like you know the place, if you get lost keep going until you find someone safe or with a friendly face you can ask, its a city like every other one in the united states, the streets are smaller and right now most of it its under construction, nothing like barranquilla cause its a smaller city any question post it ill answer it with pleasure. sandraPAS

sandra_pas comments on Relationship: ?Que debo hacer?

ok im a colombian, i know how man can be here, specially costeños as we call them here, you know from the coast, cartagena, barranquilla santa marta, etc, costeños are not very patient theyre all loud about pretty much everything, but they stay when they care, thinking, he stayed,
that is true colombian men love hard woman, love the hard work, but just keep em there in the hard work, once they get you youre history so probably not a good idea,
another thing woman are more patient about distance relationship than man but that applies to everything, but sometimes they make it work,
maybe hes not gay but he is definetely not shy cause shy its not something you see in men from cartagena specially, bogota is a more quiet but fun place to be, maybe hes just making gentle moves, cause youre not a local so its the way they move on you its different, trust me i´ve seen them work
my advice, go to him, be honest, tell him how u feel, cause were all about facing issues so we just dont have to worry about them for a long time, im telling you there is no way youll lose the friendship cause man are not as consequential as woman so.. its ok, you have nothing to lose, and youll get rid of everything your going thru right now, the worst thing it can happen is a no, but again the friendship will move on.sandraPAS

sandra_pas comments on vamos a bailar!

ok dancing.... i think it just comes natural, i mean colombians...well we dance our little asses off since we´re three well maybe two , i know it doesnt come easy to gringos, it is important to us, but not a priority to have a nice dancer cause hey we love dancing but its not an esencial.....
anyways, a secret for practice, move your hips from one side to the other without moving your shoulders and your feet, feets...you can move`em however the hell you want just follow the lead if your a woman and hey if you´re the man lead your own way, the girl will follow, and its all about the rythm and feeling it, i mean how do you dance techno music, country music i hate it but its a dance so, how do you dance old rock music, u dance it so... its the same you feel the music and it doesnt matter if youre moves are not good, its all about the fun of it, even proffesionals enjoy it, so dont worry just have fun, relax and enjoy. sandraPAS

dont bring food, we are not starving in colombia, plus inmigration will kill your guts if they find anything unusual, dont bring any powders, except for candies, chocolates included, altoids are good, bring different and new, bring them different stuff not the same to all sisters, i dont know whats in texas, ive never been there, but t-shirts are good, bring local texas things, dont bring mugs you can get´em here as cheap as u want, but hey simple stuff are easy to find, dont complicate yourself, christmas decoration is aalso a good idea, how about something for the house decoration. i dont know bringing gifts from the us is harder than taking them from colombia, but i can tell you, your girl and her family dont care about the gifts, they care about u, so pretty much anything will do
good luck

changing the subject mario food is great here, dont just think about taxis and gifts u can have tons of fun here, tell your girl to take you to carbon de palo, or to el morrillo, el morrillo is great food and they also have live shows, musical, tell her to take you to monserrate, and go to la candelaria, eat obleas u know theyre really simple but so good, anything about food you can ask me, hey isaac is right crepes and waffles and el corral u cant miss, anyways, just a thought, just trying to let u know that if u make it right youll have the best 9 days of your life, take care sandraPAS

sandra_pas comments on

hey mario, someone once told me, if you learn how to drive in bogota youll be pretty much able to drive easily in any city of the world, so my advice to u is, if u´re not that patient dont rent the car, take a cab or even a bus, hey even traumilleno, sorry transmilenio, hope u have fun, bogota its really a great, dont mean to scare u or anything, just be smart about it and u will enjoy it better,
another thing is, and i know someone already told u thism is, we dont tip taxi drivers, if you want to be nice just give the man some more and tell him to keep the change. and also dont take taxis in the street call 4111111 or 3111111 those are to me the best services anyway if u need anything from me just ask sandraPAS

sandra_pas comments on Why are Colombian men so Attractive?

men!! hey....men!.... mmm well i love paisas u know, i live in bogota and really when u live here u dont get you see many specially cute guys but they´re somewhere, they just manage their way to get to tourist all the time so..., i dont like caleños theyre just too....rude and stupid, but u know i dont really think that what gets woman going about colombian men, specially foreigners, is their looks, colombian men.... they are jus fun to be with.. and they are outgoing, friendly and of course they have a special way to approach a woman.

miami....places to party.... go to havana in south beach, its a small place but full of colombian, go to "la covacha", go to "space club", weird but truth, dont know any place in broward, but mostly as soon as you meet one colombian, you´ll get to all of them, cause mostly we´re use to have house parties, with closer friends, cause it reminds us of who we are u know, in colombia, and also we hate gringos partys, way too boring, i tell u this cause i lived in miami, and cause i always go there in summer. any question im here.... take care.
