JJ logistics won't ship to Cartagena. Avianca Express wants 2.10 a lb, then 29% of the value of the packages. In this case, I'm trying to ship two LCD televisions, value of about 1500 dollars, so that is a hefty price tag. AB Xpress wants 3.00 a lb, then 15%... Any suggestions? I shopped around for TV's in Cartagena last month, the prices in the US are still about half of colombia's... ...

I've been trying for the last week or so to send a package to Colombia with Servientrega in Miami. I've done this a few times before and had no problem, however this time it hasn't been so easy. The "Beatriz" we are all familiar with from before apparently doesn't work there...? My spanish is only "intermediate" at best, and this has been a real struggle. Investor Visa
I have recently purchased an apartment in Cartagena. This was over the 100,000 needed for an "Investor" visa. I currently have a Rentista visa and an opened bank account at CitiBank in Cartagena. What advantages or disadvantages would come with the Investor Visa? Someone said it costs 375.00, what would I gain? Where to stay in Manizales, climate?
I searched and have seen from posts about lodging in Manizales, but had a question. I know this brands myself as overly gringo, but do any of these places have hot water? I've become accustomed to the tepid showers in Cartagena, but I'm not looking forward to anything colder than that... Also, is a jacket or sweater really necessary at night? All, I just priced a round trip ticket, Miami to Cartagena, for early March. Was quoted a price of 688.00, both online and with the sales department. What the hell? One night lodging cartagena near airport?
I'll be flying into Cartagena, staying one night, then flying out the next day. Can someone recommend a hotel or apartment near the airport? I do not want to stay in bocagrande or centro for logistical and other reasons.

Cell phones in Colombia question
I'm looking to replace the cell phone that the police in cartagena stole from me on my last trip. It was a quad band phone, so I could use it with any SIM card. Comcel seems to be the network of choice for most of my friends in colombia. Buying a quad band really limits my choices.

I'd like to have my novia de barranquilla accompany me to St.Martin. The travel agency in Colombia I obtained limited info from indicated she could do this without needing a visa, only a passport. My problem is finding which airline(s) she would fly on, etc.
Obtaining good information is a little harder for me porque mi espanol es pobre.

I have a cell phone I'd like to use in Colombia, it's a Motorola MPX200.
It's billed as a GSM, however I've heard that some of the MPX200's are only 1800/1900.
If this is the case, will this phone work with any carrier in Cartagena/Barranquilla?

A friend and I will be in Cartagena from Feb 2-13. We want to have working cell phones with us for the trip. My friend will be going to the Barranquilla carnival as well the weekend of the 4-8th.
