Avianca - Bogota to Medellin

I need to buy a ticket for the 10pm flight but the website won't let me since it's less than 72 hours before my planned travel... does anyone if these late night flights fill up? how can i get a reservation before i flight into Bogota from Toronto tomorrow afternoon?

My colombianita applied in November and was denied the visa. She is applying again now and this time my parents are inviting her, providing a letter of financial support with proof of financial means, and are getting that letter notarised. Will this help?

Colombiana traveling/living in Middle East

Hi there,

I am planning on a move to the Middle East (United Arab Emirates) in June/July 2006... and I have asked my Colombian girlfriend to come with me and she wants to.

However, I am worried about travel issues since she was denied a tourist visa to visit me in Canada in November... will there be an issue for her to get a transit visa for a flight to the ME through London? If so, what are the alternatives?

My girlfriend's in Medellin and will fly out tomorrow. She just wants to have private hospital coverage during her 21 day stay here in SAo Paulo.

don't require a tourist visa for Colombians?

My girlfriend was denied a temporary resident visa for a Christmas visit to Canada. I'll tell the story later so people can use it for future reference...

Now we need to find alternate vacation plans. Maybe a backpack from Medellin through Peru, Chile, and Bolivia? Or from Cartagena to Venezuela and the Guyanas? Or maybe through the Amazon?

What about Europe? Asia? Africa? Anything interesting there?

Colombian girlfriend applied for Temp Res Visa

She meets all the criteria. She has a steady job, has CDN$5000 in savings in the bank, and she wrote a sweet letter. She applied earlier this month for a Temporary Resident Visa (Multiple Entry) and we're hoping she'll get approved for a Christmas visit.

What are her chances? She's supporting her mother in Colombia - should she have written that in her application? The website says 15 days processing time - is that for real?

Just been told I can't fly out of Colombia to anywhere in South America with more than 20kg in baggage??? is this true? well I can, but I would have to pay exorbitant per kilogram fees...

Cartagena / Bocagrande - Know an affordable Hotel?

Hey,
I'll be in B/Grande this weekend. Looking for an affordable hotel on San Martin or on the street behind it (closer to the Bay than the ocean). Something around 70,000 a night for two people would be good.

La Troncal Magdalena via Puerto Berrio by BUS

Hey,
Theres a derrumbe (road washed out) between Medellín and Coveñas so I'm travelling to the coast via la troncal Magdalena.
I tried all the resources to get a status on how safe it is to travel. Vive Colombia, Viaja por ella... INVIAS, Policia Nacional. but it doesn't seem like anyone knows whether it's a safe route.

Anyone have any bad experiences?

I have the job - now the work visa?

Hi,
I've been hired by a Colombian company in Medellin (not a teaching position, it's an internship for my MBA). Right now they're going through the mountain of paperwork to get me authorised (certificado de proporcionalidad) so that I can apply for a work visa. I am a Canadian citizen and am currently in my country, but I wanted to know if I could submit my application through another consulate/embassy in say, Caracas, Quito, or Panama. Are there any issues with that?
