Well I just returned from Medellin and I had a great time. Now that I'm in love with the place. I need to find a way to go there and stay for a few years. Does anyone know what kind of visa I should be trying to get? I was told that I cannot get a work visa without having a company sponsor me, and a tourist visa is too short. Can I get hired as an English teacher without a work visa( I have no college degree )? Do I dare try to work w/o a work visa? Is there such a thing ...

I need some words of wisdom from someone who has been there , done that. I'm visiting Medellin next month and I'm wondering about how much and what form of money I should have when I land at the airport. Are traveler's checks a good idea or should I stick to the ATM's? How many U.S. dollars should I bring to start my two week stay? I have accomodations arranged so I won't need a hotel.

I am coming to visit Medellin for the first time and I would like to bring a gift for my host and hostess. Can anyone recommend a good gift to bring from the States? I was told that the best coffee beans are exported from Colombia and good quality coffee is not available there. Would it be an insult to bring gourmet coffee or would it be welcomed.
