For all those people in the UK who call Colombia regularly, there are new phonecards out that support the London-based charity, Children Of The Andes. "Hola" cards cost £4 each for 160 mins and every time you buy a card, 50p is donated to COTA, which funds schools, community centres & social programmes for street children in Colombia. A worthwhile way to phone! For details call 020 7549 0225. COTA's website is: www.childrenoftheandes.org ...
To all extranjeros/as living in Medellín - a group of us (Paisas & extranjeros) are meeting tomorrow night (Thursday 2nd) at 8pm in the bar La Tienda del Vino in El Poblado, on Calle 9 (a couple of blocks down from Parque Poblado). Please feel free to join us for una noche de integración! ...
Forgive the shameless plug but it's for a very good cause, and also very educational! The Riverside Studios in Hammersmith are playing a triple bill of Colombian films on the nights of 17th & 18th September. The main feature is the film La Vendedora de Rosas, about street children in Medellin, and the other two are a short documentary about displaced children in Colombia and a comedy. 35% of the profits go towards the charity for street children in Colombia, Children of the Andes. ...
Is anyone else having problems with the forum page? I get half the posts and the rest of the page is taken up with a box asking me to log in and the adverts. I can't seem to get any of yesterday's posts or see if there are any more answers to my visa questions. The posts stop at the "Nationality" post. What's going on? Are those the "best" posts and if so, what's happened to the "not-so-good" ones?! ...
Sorry, this is another dull visa question. I know I posted a question yesterday and no one answered, but I really need advice and things have advanced a bit.
I want to go to Colombia ASAP but apparently the police clearance form I need to get my spouse visa takes 40 working days to process here in the UK!!! I just handed it in today so that takes us till 13th October just to get that form, which then needs an apostille and Spanish translation before I can even think about applyin ...
I have a question regarding how and if you can work on a spouse visa. I work in London but am trying to get relocated to Colombia for several months to join my husband, who had to return for work. (I'm British, he's Colombian.) I just phoned the Colombian Consulate here in London to ask what to do about working on a spouse visa and they said the best thing to do is get the spouse visa here and then go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bogota and change my status from Hogar to whatever, and s ...
Has anyone been to Cabo de la Vela recently? I am hopefully going to go there in September for a holiday. It's been a dream of mine for ages - my husband has been and says it's amazing. I'm just wondering if anyone else knows it. Is it OK to travel there por tierra? We're planning to go with friends in their car from Medellin, via Parque Tayrona. ...
