Thanx's Derek! Will just take it in stride as I am the adventurous type. Been in a couple hotspots in the world. I'm still here . . .not necessarily in one piece . . . but here nonetheless. I'll keep your advice in mind . . .probably do the "scarecrow" tactic . . . if I get hit .. run around and pick up the pieces and just "stuff" them back in wherever the fit. Thanks for the clarification and insight either way . . it helps getting a different perspective.

It's kinda funny how we can take simple things such as maps for granted over here. Believe me I was searching the internet. Found a lot of sites with Satellite pictures . . but I decided to forego my flight on "APOLLO" this time. Thanx's.

Thanx's Michael . . I'm grateful . .as I am planning on arriving toward the end of the month and/or early January. Wheww, just got my passport renewed and received it in the mail today. Ohh if you ever have to do this don't count on the website to review the status of your passport processing . . .even the Government people tell you it's no good. Call up and check the status. Again . . . thank you very much.

Desi ! Thanks for the great help . . . really appreciate your help and the quick response. I'm a little of the adventurous type so the strata's don't alarm me. After all survived all the tumultous periods periods over here in the good ol US of A since the 60's, inclusive of the Oklahoma bombing, 911, and the Washington DC sniper. Again in all seriousness, I am very thankful for your assistance I'm sure it will save me many hours of going in circles when I arrive.

As an individual who was raised in a third world countr for a large significant part of his childhood life, I find it ironic that one of the biggest complainers complaining about not understanding, "completely" misses the points being made. What a very sad state of affairs. Mcknight, Caslug, and Fred Gavin I commend you on your points . . right on target. Still can't believe that she totally missed the point about the "Patriot Act" ........seems to be to focused on only understanding her point of view.

response to Angel Gabriel First of all, I want to thank all of the contributors for the very positive and helpful information. I've been following up on all the suggestions and when appropriate sending e-mail messages to several of the responses received. AGAIN .. THANK YOU !!
With respect to your question, Angel, after doing quite a bit of research on the flights, this is what I've found, number one, probably best if I make my reservations about 3 months prior to my departure, secondly if my trip is completed prior to the first two weeks of December, I can still get a super deal on the roundtrip ticket, however if I go past that 2 week period, either arriving or departing, I will be paying pretty close to full fare. If I wait tell the first week in January 05, then I can again, get a super deal on the flight reservation. Gives me quite a bit to think about, but I haven't exhausted my sources yet, still doing some additional follow-up. If your planning a trip on or around the same time, let me know, I would be more than happy to share the info with you.

Psychoanalysts On occasion I've read some very good and positive feedback on this site, sadly though it seems to be turning into conducting a psychoanalytical assessment of the person asking the question. What a sad state of affairs for a site which appears to want to be helpful to people wanting to gain information on Colombia, be it the culture, people, history or yes ... agencies. It appears that the people that feel so headstrong on a particular view point . . are really the ones with the problem. If you can't stay positive and helpful maybe you should not say anything, but then again that may require to much of an introspective look. You are a very special person with a positive outlook Without having personally met you Milena, you come across and project a very positive image of yourself. You continually speak in a positive manner, and even when it appears that people may have wronged you . . . . you don't dwell on the negative but move on to the positive. We need more people in this world like you. One other comment I would make, is ditto what one of the previous individuals states . . that is the people are probably jeolous. I particulary enjoyed your statement on how you characterized the men who are looking for that special relationship on the internet . . . very sweet. I'm also was pleased to you reference the whole issue of "time", which is probably one of the most dificult things to get across to people in other countries until they've arrived here. Lastly, I'm an individual who has been quite involved in numerous activities, business, government, social activities, philanthropic organizations, speaking before numerous audiences . . and let me tell you . . sadly gossiping is part of human nature for a great deal of people. Before it used to bother me, now it just repels off my back like a bead of water on a duck. The way I look at it .. good or bad, if there talking about me . . . it means I'm still the center of attention. Now, I would probably wonder what went wrong . . if they stopped talking about me. Interested in hearing about your experience Daniel, I would be very much interested in your experience and comments/opinions on how you found Colombia to be. I am planning a trip to Cali in December any info on your trip would be helpful. Particularly any information you found particularly helpful in navigating through the country, understanding the culture, and even logistics. I've heard a lot about the airlines flying into Colombia, would be particularly interested in knowing how or what process you followed to select your airline and the airline you are flying with. I'm not sure it makes a difference or not, but I'm on the west coast of the U.S. Ohh, by the way have a great time and hope your trip is everything you expected and more.

Suggestions work, however a little on the formal side The suggestions will work,however they are a little on the formal side or another way put "proper" spanish. Reminds me of how foreigners use to learn how to speak english, proper and formal, then when they got to the USA, people would wonder . . what's up with him. Particularly with the term "ustedes", also the structure of the other terms.

Rather than dwelling on trying to figure out all the nuances of why the individual is requesting assistance .. you provide a breath of fresh air and intelligence to this individual. "What is this site good for if it can't provide some positive suggestions. . . .I for one am "amused" at the people who provide responses by calling other people "stupid", then go on to show there total ignorance. For one, there are many reasons why individuals may not want to announce all the details of there situation(s) for all the public to view. I for one have been one of those individuals, and on follow up by providing my e-mail, have received tremendous, positive and extremely helpful information. Small town border crossings Vladimiro, I have a colombian friend who has some similar interests to get to the U.S., however lacking the necessary visa. You bring up an interesting point and would like to ask you some follow-up questions. Lets say, as in the example that you responded to . . that an individual made a small town crossing into ecuador . . what would be the next steps to . ...let's say get to Mexico. Would they just get on a plane from ecuador and fly directly to Mexico ? What about a visa, wouldn't a visa be required? Could you please help me understant how the individual would proceed, once in Ecuador? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
