Rob77 comments on I Cannot Breathe in Medellin / Air Quality What makes it harder to comprehend and accept is that Bogota demanded and received a better quality fuel for its city. What makes Medellin any different that it can not demand the same?

Rob77 comments on Voting online in the Democratic Primary I checked out that site. It does not look like you can vote online. It allows you to register online. Then it asks here you want your ballot mailed to.

Rob77 comments on Bogota's Born In Miami Mayor Eyes Presidency Fajardo was mayor of Medellin. He recently finished his term. He was selected as one of Colombia's best mayors. His assistant was elected to replace him.

Rob77 comments on My credit card was cloned in Medellin. But, Tom, if you only took 100k 5 or 6 times, you didn't take that much out. That still leaves me with doubt about the maximum daily withdrawal limit.

Rob77 comments on My credit card was cloned in Medellin. Tom, you're saying ATM's in Colombia offer unlimited withdrawals?

Rob77 comments on Almost got shot last week! Hit my car! HPs I must have lived in all the wrong places in the US. because all my years in the US, I never saw or heard gun shots. But, here, I hear them at least once a week. And, I'm in a decent neighborhood. If it bothered me that much, I wouldn't be here. At the same time, we don't need to sugar-coat what it's really like.
Rob77 comments on Almost got shot last week! Hit my car! HPs That kind of stuff happens anywhere, not just on 7a. The avenues without Transmilenium, like 7a, are worse, because they still have tons of old buses competing. It makes for chaotic, very competitive driving. Usually, the biggest vehicle wins. Of course, a gun beats any vehicle.
Rob77 comments on Almost got shot last week! Hit my car! HPs It's still the wild west on the roads here. I've seen bus drivers block 3 lanes of traffic just to pick up a passenger.

Rob77 comments on My credit card was cloned in Medellin. "citibank will do it for you. So you can take out 1.400.000 at a time." That's a good deal. I will have to try them. Davidienda will let you take out 500 x 2, Bancolombia will let you take out 400 x 3.
Rob77 comments on My credit card was cloned in Medellin. BTW, I received a powerpoint file not long ago, warning about ATM cloning. I saved it because it illustrates step by step how the theives do it and what the false equipment looks like. If anyone wants a copy of the file, just PM me. I'm not sure it can be loaded into a thread here. But, it's only a 250k file. It is only in Spanish though.

Rob77 comments on My credit card was cloned in Medellin. "...I can take out 700K at a time from the ATM..." GIB, who is allowing 700 per withdrawal? I have counted on Davidienda for 500 at a time.

Rob77 comments on Any Poor But Happy Hookups? Is this the right thread for the 'inti bullfight' videos? :P (the hetero ones, of course!)

Rob77 comments on Bogota apparently not a good place to live Interesting... they must have taken the horrible traffic here into consideration!
Rob77 comments on Bullfights on Teleantioquia You didn't expect people who enjoy torturing and killing helpless animals to care whether the animal is still suffering and convulsing when they remove parts of its body for their own selfish pride, did you? If it really were meant to be JUST a sport, or an art, they would not need to kill each animal. They could show their skills by manuevering around the animal and avoiding being hurt. But they have a thirst for blood and suffering, which gets passed into daily lives, filled with indifference towards violence and suffering of others. And children are brought up with this indifference. Want a peaceful society? Start by being humane with those who are weaker than you.
Rob77 comments on Bullfights on Teleantioquia No matter how many videos I watch, I can not see how there is any courage in stabbing a helpless, severely disabled animal. And what the heck is wrong with the people who drool over watching an animal suffer to death?

Rob77 comments on Llegaron los Magnificos Interesting point about distracting from other issues. But, I have to disagree. One major problem in Colombia has been a lack of personal interest and participation in issues. People tend to only find the issues of minor curiosity, if it doesn't affect them directly. So, anytime there is a way to get people to participate personally, and take even minimal responsibility for what happens in their country, it is a step in the right direction. Who knows, it may become habit. Some day, politicans will actually care what the voters think!

Rob77 comments on HUGO CHAVEZ: ``YO MASTICO PASTA DE COCA´´ Some more angles on chavez's recent statement:
Rob77 comments on HUGO CHAVEZ: ``YO MASTICO PASTA DE COCA´´ Chavez's statements are very relative to this forum and issues related to Colombia. We already know he is looney, and cares little about world opinion, and that many of his actions and statements lack logic. So, we are left with snippets of his rediculous comments to decipher what he has in mind for, not just his own country, but for the hemisphere. Lately, his staements, accusations and actions seem to point towards trying to provoke Colombia into a confrontation, and to distract venezuelans from their country falling apart under his 'leadership'. The fact that he is trying hard to legitimize the FARCe terrorists AND legitimize their illegal drug trade, may predict his next move - somthing like granting unconditional asylum to all terrorist groups in Colombia (those who label themselves communists!) This would give terrorists sanctuary and a safe base from which to launch attacks, and move drugs and money between the countries. I think Uribe already saw this coming. Which explains why his recent trip to Europe caused Spain to go out of their way to publicly offer military help to protect Colombia's border. . . Wouldn't be a bad idea if Spain closed down the border between the two countries, allowing Colombia's military to focus on closing in and cornering the terrorists in the jungle. They would have no place to hide. The biggest obstacle would be the commies, trying to paint the situation as Uribe selling the country back to the old colonialists. But, hey, they can go live in havana if they don't like it!

Rob77 comments on Writers Group in Bogotá I'm interested in writing. But how do you write together? Also, am I the only guy interested in this? Is this usually a women's thing?

Rob77 comments on Chavez has reason Yah sure, chavez is really helping his country~. Venezuela brings in so much money from oil, and yet, peopel wait in lines for hours to buy food. And he places troops at the border to make sure no venezuelan brings in food from Colombia. Sure, he really cares about the poor! He employs isolationist policies that benefit no one but his ego! In he meantime, he is one of the mos hypocritical politicians of our time, selling a large percentage of his oil to what he calls the Imperialists, and now even buying food from the US, since he has caused markets to run with empty shelves. Of course, he has plenty of money available to buy weapans and build arms factorys within venezuela! What a humanitarian! . . . Let the people eat guns! Chavez is just looking for an excuse to initiate hostilties with Colombia on the border. He is gooing to do anything to distract Venezuelans from the fact the the country is an economic disaster, despite having billiones in oil revenue. Saddam Hussein complained for a long time about Kuwait before invading too. Now, with the FARCe slowly dying, both literally (marulanda and constant defections), he sees a military conflict as a way to support his communist jackals hiding in the Colombian jungles. Just as Hussein planned on regaining ancient territory via Kuwait chavez wants the Gran Colombia back. But in his hands the entire northern portion of South America will turn into a state-owned, barren oil field, focusing on communist policies and leaving people to starve in food lines. BOYCOTT CITGO!

Rob77 comments on España ofrece a Alvaro Uribe defender la soberanía de Colombia en la frontera The timing of the statement from Spain about helping to protect the broder is very curious. Right after Chavez orders troops to be statoned along the border. There may be a message in there especially for Chavez.

Rob77 comments on Testimonial from a Guerillero that Deserted Great news. It's good to separate those who were forced to join from the rats who run that inhumane, criminal outfit. One thing really stood out in the interview, when they asked what the FARCe think of Chavez: - ¿Qué piensan los guerrilleros del Presidente de Venezuela Hugo Chávez? A él lo tienen como un colaborador. Es un camarada de las Farc. Not that we had any doubt...

Rob77 comments on tirofijo tiene cancer / tirofijo has cancer Sr Tertius says on Thursday January 24th, 2008 16:05: "all the people that have plagued Colombia with violence are, they are the product of Colombian society. WE created them. They are a reflection of us." One's personal situation/background can stear one toward a particular political ideology. But you can not excuse evil because of one's background. Supposedly, what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom is the ability to rationalize our behavior. To distinguish right from wrong, and to know when our actions cause others harm. Not even economic conditions could excuse what these people purposely do to other living beings. Some of the nicest, most sincere and humble people I have met came from modest economic background, and they never consider causing harm to others. These despicable leaders, like marulanda, have huge caches of money, gold, land - all obtained by hurting others. They don't even have the excuse of poverty for their actions. Unless someone here wants to say these A-holes dismember live Colombians for the good of the country...

Rob77 comments on tirofijo tiene cancer / tirofijo has cancer Both the FARCe and the Paras leadership are an aberration of human evolution. They were born without essential human attributes, like a heart and a concience. Their extermination is in the best interest of humanity.
Rob77 comments on tirofijo tiene cancer / tirofijo has cancer I like to keep an open mind. I respect that there will always be liberals and conservatives. And that each will have a different idea of how to manage society . . . But, these groups, they are not legitimate political groups. They are motivated by greed and power, and consider absolutely nothing scared, not family, women, children, nothing! They are heartless SOB's who delight in their killings. Animals are more decent than these criminals. They deserve not one ounce of pity. Execution would be too kind. Marulanda deserves to be strung up by hooks through his fingers, fed bread and water, and allowed to die as slowly as possible, while the families of his thousands and thousands of victims pass by, spitting on his slowly rotting, yet living corpse. Nah, that scenario would be too generous!

Rob77 comments on tirofijo tiene cancer / tirofijo has cancer cass, I can't speak for the rest of the Our Gang here, but I don't see anyone making excuses for the paras or trying to paint them as saints. They are all evil and deserve to die a 1000 deaths. I'm always dissappointed that Colombia has never had the balls to face down the church influence and impose the death penalty on these scumbags, both FARCe and the Paras. It's hard to even consider them human - they are closer to sub-human.

Rob77 comments on tirofijo tiene cancer / tirofijo has cancer Animals are more humane than the FARCe. Don't insult the animals! May they roast in hell for eternity!

What a bunch of idiots thinking they deserve to be recognized while kidnapping, torturing, murdering, cultivating and selling drugs, and all in all, being a bunch of imbeciles with guns.

Rob77 comments on Overseas Democrats can vote online now expatriate says on Wednesday January 23rd, 2008 5:47: "Almost all of the U.S. politicians are taking bribes from Israel, ...colluding with the Mossad to destroy the World Trade Center buildings, and allowing Israel to commit genocide against the Palestinians." Sounds pretty damn obsessed to me. Reminds me of the crap the Lyndon LaRouche cult followers spout perennially. Everyone has a right to their opinions, albeit totally misguided. But, it is sad in this day and age, with so much information available at one's fingertips, to find people prefer their convoluted conspiracy theories to reality. Hate seems to be forever popular.

Rob77 comments on Overseas Democrats can vote online now "You don't even seem to be aware of Doctor Ron Paul, and the fact that he is the only candidate from either party that puts America first, second, and third, and unlike the other candidates, Israel last." Another one obsessed with Israel!

Rob77 comments on Is Anybody tracking the Colombian Stock Market? While it was not directly related to US stock market activity, it was related to predictions for the US economy. EXACTLY..........and that is what media outlets pointed out...............Not one said what my grande amigo in Bogota is saying.......... If I'm wrong...................SHOW ME ONE..........just ONE" Wouldn't it be grand if everyone could express their opinions without having to berate other's opinions? Then, we might actually engage in intellectual discussion here... It would be nice to read everyone's opinion on subjects, without having to place people on 'ignore' because they constantly engage in annoying, personal attacks that end up wasting people's time.

Rob77 comments on Is Anybody tracking the Colombian Stock Market? If I can interject here with a practical question... Anyone who was watching the dollar yesterday saw it rocket up over 60 pesos in a day. Normally, that would make today a good day for transactions. But, the US markets were closed yesterday. So, it seems like the TRM did not actually move as a result of dollar trading yesterday. Does anyone know if we are still using Friday's value today? Which would mean the increase yesterday has become mostly irrelevant due to the drop today.
