There is a good hostel in Bogota called Anandamayi. It is in La Candelaria and has nice private rooms and bathrooms at a low cost. Staff are extremely helpful, has a beautiful courtyard and a small library of books, lots of hammocks, bookable on the web, not so crowded. But it also has a Buddhist vibe and drug and alcohol use are discouraged, so it is not a party hostel like the Platypus. But it may be what you seek.
