Rio_Sul comments on Colombian Chicas - Someone please explain!

I am average looking (but in pretty good shape). I even had a girlfriend and apartment in Cali for a year. Been to Colombia about 17 or 18 times (lost count). Also Brasil at least 12 times. My only problem has been TOO MANY WOMEN! Everywhere I go I meet them. Taxi drivers try to hitch me up with sister in laws, women at hotels, on the street, in malls, small towns, etc. I have had so many problems trying to "lose" one, so I can meet another as planned. I suspect the women handing out their phone numbers is normal. I even had one give me her phone number while working at Chipichapi Mall in Cali (Name Victoria) AND ON HER CELL PHONE SPEAKING WITH HER BRITISH BOYFRIEND! I had Elaine in Brasil speak with a boyfriend while in my apartment and another time while laying with me on the beach. I think they just want the best "deal" they can get. Good luck. Dennis

Rio_Sul comments on Gringos married to colombianas in Colombia!!!!!!!

I can tell you from experience that if a person is married to a US citizen and they live in the USA (together) for 3 years, the immigrant with the "permanent green card" can apply for US citizenship. I have successfully completed 4 K1 and K2 visas and all were admitted to the USA. I lost my shirt in divorce though. Best of luck to you.

Rio_Sul comments on On foreigners and integration

I have been to many countries, from Russia to Brasil. I love different cultures. I learned a little Portuguese, Russian and Sapnish along the way. I think everyones experience is different. Everyone has different reasons to travel or move (to another country). I like Brasil and Colombia very much. I want to retire soon, buy a small business and live the relaxed lifestyle of a latin country. I have stayed in the fervelas of Rio, stayed in tiny pueblo's in Colombia (where the only people with guns are the narco-trafficers, no police), slept on a park bench at 0400 A.M. an hour north of Rio, fled for my life from "robbers" blocking a freeway, going car to car with guns in Barra da Tijuca, walking late at night in "bad" areas, etc. I enjoy people, life and adventure. If someone wants to "stay in safe places", they should. If they want to walk in dangerous areas, the go for it. I am careful but most times I am not afraid. Many people told me how dangerous "Centro" is to walk in. I have walked, day and night. No problems. I have more friends in Colombia than Michigan. I want to live life in the "play" mode, not the "fast forward" mode of America. Colombia is a diverse country with beaches, sand, surf, snow covered area, jungle, valleys, mountains and almost every other terrain. If you are American, you can visit or live almost anywhere you like. You can also live how you like (within the law). I encourage everyone to live where YOU want, live HOW you want, and be with the people YOU want to be with. I can fit in almost anywhere without any problems. I was almost run over in Moscow by a diplomats car...jeje so there are SOME exceptions. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Cali has an "Unicentro" also. It is on the south side of the city.

Rio_Sul comments on NFL Games in Cali Colombia

Hi Newbie, I had a girlfriend and an apartment in Cali last year and watched the Detroit Tigers play (I live in Michigan...jeje). Regular cable offers great sports options. If you are in a hotel, most offer cable. If not, try the internet. Some sports can be seen on it. I can't wait to retire and move "back home". I LOVE Colombia, her people, food and relaxed lifestyles. One more year...Merry Christmas, Dennis

Rio_Sul comments on For the newbies only. How to land trophy Colombian women?

I landed one I met a baby so hot she drives me crazy. I have now even rented an apartment in Cali for her and her mother, son, nephew, etc (an me when I visit). I return in September and she is talking "Marriage". Now I need to do the "chicken dance"...jeje
