RecochanBoy comments on Campos de Cristo it is Just to add to GIB's comment, the place is a cemetery on the Chusacá zone, and its name is Campos de Cristo. I just spotted it this morning on my way home from Ibagué, as well as the "El Faro" restaurant at the entrace. Located on the Autopista Sur entering Bogotá from the south and 5 km before Soacha, the place is one of the last green spots before the concrete takes over. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Chicaque is a natural park nearby, on the way from Soacha to La Mesa (http://www.chicaque.com).

RecochanBoy comments on Any Independence Day Festivals/Events in the Washington DC area? DC area event Just read your post. The only one event in the DC area I found mentioned in the Chancery website was held last Sunday (July 17) at Freedom Plaza in DC; seems like the DC area featured the least number of Independence Day events this year compared to other U.S. cities; dunno why, probably declining attendance seen in recent years...

RecochanBoy comments on Colombia Street Address Streets in Colombia are usually arranged as a grid, with (0, 0) at the city center. You always start with the street where the place is at; in your example it's Calle but it also may be other things like Carrera, Avenida, Diagonal, Transversal. In Bogotá, a Calle runs from east to west and a Carrera runs from north to south. Avenida can be either one and it may have either a name or a number (i.e. Avenida 82 or Avenida Caracas). Calle and Carrera usually have numbers only. The rest of the number is read as Dan explains it; find the cross road and then the number after the dash is the house number, i.e. houses in the same block (let's say 45) should start at 01 and end at 99 (more or less), for instance 45-01 for the first house and 45-99 for the last one. The even house numbers on one side of the street and the odd ones across the street from the even ones. Sometimes you may find an "N" or "S" added to the number; that means North or South, to distinguish that street from the same street number at the opposite half of the town.

RecochanBoy comments on Dating a Cousin In the U.S. too... I can see this going on in the U.S. too. Check this out:

RecochanBoy comments on Dating a Cousin Not a custom but not unusual Hey ColX, I agree with you in that is not a "custom" but I would say it's not that unusual. I know of a couple cases within my own family tree where cousins dated, married and now have normal children. I point this out because of the old belief that breeding between cousins may produce birth defects in offspring (due to the mixing of closely-related genes or whatever) but in both of my relatives' cases, their children were born perfectly healthy. I personally think this belief is all about preventing close relatives to breed because genetic variety increases the survival odds of future populations.

RecochanBoy comments on Please tell me Thanks Lionheart Just wanted to say thank you for your extended chars post. I made the change and it works great in my US K/B. I used to do the Alt-xxx thing all the time and now I can save myself a few keystrokes every time I need an accented char. I usually type 1/2 the time in English and 1/2 the time in Spanish so it comes in really handy.
