Proud_Canadian comments on Visiting Cucuta

As I mentioned on your other post. I spent a week there, and I'm as gringo as you come. I had no security issues, never felt in danger, and was treated nicely everywhere. My reccomendation would be to always be accompanied by your wife or her family.

Proud_Canadian comments on Gringo in Cucuta?

Hey, I have a friend who works at Hotel Arizona in Cucuta. If you would like info about it, or her contact, pm me.

Proud_Canadian comments on Anyone from Cucuta ??????????

I spent a week there, and I'm as gringo as you come, with limited spanish at the time. I had no problems, and travelled across the venezuelan border twice a day. I'm not saying it's a safe place, but just telling you I spent a week there with no issues.

Proud_Canadian comments on

Proud_Canadian comments on Tell me about Quinceanero?

I went to one last weekend. I'll try and post some pics for ya..and maybe a video or two. It's basically like a Western wedding, but for her 15th bday. Quite the thing I must say.

Proud_Canadian comments on B-1/B-2 Visa for spouse of US citizen?

Just a personal note...since I can't seem to edit my post.

The visa allows me to reside in the US, IF I want. I do not live in the US.

That's all :)

Proud_Canadian comments on B-1/B-2 Visa for spouse of US citizen?

As a Canadian Citizen working for a US company (but I am on a Canadian payroll), I can tell you she will NOT be allowed in the Country on a B-1 Visa without being employed by a company outside the US, and the trip being a business related trip, and only a TEMPORARY trip. I can PROMISE you that if they even THINK that she is looking for permanent residency or anything, she will be turned away. Also, you do not need to "apply" for a B-1 Visa. It is the classification given to workers temporarily working in the US, but NOT for a US company.

I travelled to the US dozens and dozens of times for weeks at a time on a B-1 visa, and after spending too much time in the US, I was forced to get a LB-1, the visa I currently possess, which now allows me to have a Social Security Number, as well as permantly reside in the US. BUUTT....it is only good for 3 years, with the option to renew for 2, at which time, you have to leave the country for a period of no less then one year.

Proud_Canadian comments on I Really AM Having Coffee with DonGringo....

Proud_Canadian comments on Temptation

Around my neck of the woods... We call young girls who dress very sexy "prosti-tots".
They're everywhere. Most if not all, are just innocent girls trying to look older.....from what I see, anyways.

"I've been out of the States for 4 1/2 years and have no real reason at this time to go back. Yep, here we can drink in public, blast our music all night long, view beautiful uninhibited women......"

Don't they call that place Vegas in the US? ;)

Proud_Canadian comments on How do you feel about her age

you do not have defend how you met her Many people meet on dating site. I've met a number of girls here locally where I live, through some because I travel about 36-40 weeks of the year, so it makes meeting people where I live more difficult.

I think, that if you just do things at a pace your comfortable with (albiet fast or slow) and don't judge her, but definatly keep your sensors on, you should be fine.

You do realize at LEAST one of the two of you is going to have to learn a new language..haha

its there check your inbox! :P

gringoloid, your in Colombia, no?

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

gringoloid Hey, I hope that I didn't affect your life in a negative way. There is a good chance that your fiance is a wonderful girl, but as you can see from my experience (and honestly, what I wrote in my original post is ONLY the tip of the iceberg!!), sheeitt happens.

Just to make things clear, I was not attempting to find a wife. It was something that just kinda happened. Trust me....when I met her, in now way shape or form was I thinking marriage. It was only after getting to know her, and developing feelings for her that, that came into the picture.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

Thanks Toms The thing with the braces though, was most teenagers had them, not adults, and most adults had perfect teeth. She wasn't asking me for them....as a matter of fact, she already had them. I was just suprised, that with all the money issues they have, how they can all have had braces.

I'll have to email you the story about her and the other guy. I don't think it's over between them. As a matter of fact, he moved to Colombia for a job, and then didn't get it, then had the nuts to email me and see if I could help him get a job in Canada!....I told you...right outta a movie man. I'll email ya the details. Crazy stuff

Proud_Canadian comments on How do you feel about her age

i understand your situation... and I hope it's not a scam. There is only one way to figure out I guess. Learn some spanish, and go visit! Just keep an mind open. (mejor? ahora estás feliz) Don't let love lead you blind.

Good luck holygrail

question though....how did you meet?

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

why did I push for more sex? Because I was there...she was there, and I wanted it. Plain and simple. What man here wouldn't want to have sex when he had the opportunity, especially with a gorgeous girl!

So now that we're square you can get off you rant about my motives, because your wrong, and second....I didn't call you any names (insert apology acceptance).

I started discussing when I posted this thread. To discuss my experiences, and enlighten others.

I mentioned this in my original post, and nobody addressed it, so I want to bring it up. When I was in Colombia, I noticed a LOT of young girls and boys had braces, and most adults had nice teeth. Is dental work just more affordable there, or do they take that kind of thing very seriously. I mean, for a family to live like they lived here in my country, they sure wouldn't be springing for $3,000-$4,000 braces.

Any thoughts?

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

you know only what I have told you... If you read comments after my original post, what you read is a BRIEF summarization of thw whole story...so for you to for a conclusion on my personal feelings or intentions, is nieve. Keep in mind I also wrote that AFTER I came back, and all that had happened. Had I written a post prior to leaving it would have had a totally different feel.

So don't pretend to be a psychologist, or a mind reader. You know nothing more then what I have told you, and you have formed your opinion on that, when in fact it is only a small piece of the puzzle.

I have nothing against you, and were you fishing for a "thank you" when you bring up the fact you commented on my photography. You question my intentions and integrity, and then compliment me....nice touch!

Anyways, this thread is intended for PRO-ACTIVE conversations, so I challenge you to have one.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

If you speak when spoken to or about.... How did you get in this thread to begin with? And then secondly, you came back...again because I sure as hell didn't bring you up. If you have a guilty conscience then so be it, but don't blame that on other people.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

5 year plan!!! HAHAHA...too funny. Who are these Colombian friends? Where did they come from? (and I don't mean Colombia!!). That has got to make her happier then a pig in shhiieeet that she now has some girlfriends to hang out with that she can relate to. She also must be LOVIN this weather eh! Today is awesome, and earlier in the week was great.....but that storm last night was pretty vicious.

As far as a round two....that's not exactly in the cards right now (although she did say to me after I called her out on her lies, and we got into a big fight....."do you still want to help me, I know I am crazy for asking". Although she has since admitted to telling me lies, she still will not be completely honest with me. Her famous line is "the past is the past, live in the present". She just expects me to forget about the shit she put me through, without any type of explination. Not gonna happen.

I do feel for her though, her life sucks.....so I will be her friend as long as I can. I think more then anything, she is a product of her environment, but we'll see.

Thanks Portena, it was my intention to allow others to see my experiences, as I learned a lot from others on this site before, and after my trip. This is a great site.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

Yes I have..... I am still in contact with her, still talk to her. As a matter of fact I still get daily text messages from her. The way this story has turned out though....seriously, it's straight outta a freakin hollywood movie. Like...wtf! haha I'll have to put it on paper, and decide if it's post worthy or not.

CA....you must feel guilty or something? Were your ears burning?

What about you Tom...can she order Mc Donalds yet? jeje (that story cracks me up)

FYI We are ALL in this together. Everyone here (with the exception of a few) are here to help each other out. Kudos Tom!

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

Thanks... Well, truly, I highly doubt anyone here would encounter her, A)because of where she lives, B)I just don't think that would ever happen...haha

I'm glad you enjoyed reading about my experience. It was too bad some Trolls (mainly one and she won't be named), had to come here and changes the subject and cause a ruckus.

It was actually a very interesting learning experience for me. I'll be WELL prepared next time I go into battle..jaja

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

victim Ok, so she does not know I'm aware of her other boyfriends, and she still continues to tell me how she loves me, she wants to marry me, and be with me forever. Just the other day, she tells me she loves me ect, and that she has to go to her cousins house....then she turns around and logs onto her other msn (which she does not know I'm aware of), and what's her name? "TE AMO ALBERT".

Ya, who's the one playing who?

How can she be the victim, when I gave her the opportunity that she asked for....a better life with someone who would give her anything she wanted in life. She in turn...F at WKED me over, thinking I was too dumb to catch on to her games.

Enough about that...the idea was, I had a GREAT time in Colombia, and wanted to share my VERY REAL experience through this vehicle (PBH) because I can GUARANTEE you someone reading this HAS, or WILL go through the same thing.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

CaritadeAngel..... So, seeing how you DO NOT know me, OR any of my motives, I am safe to say you are 100% WRONG in saying "Our hapless but Proud Canadian was just a dumb kid in search of sexual adventure. Secondly, he doesn't know what he wants."

I did NOT go to Colombia for a sex adventure. I DID know what I wanted.

I went to Colombia to visit my "girlfriend"(or so I was led to believe). SHE had misled ME. I had VERY good intentions arriving in Cucuta, of furthering our relationship, learning more about the culture, and her family, and for you to say anything different is plain ignorance.

"The only kind of man who reall poses a danger to my heart these days is a someone with that deadly mix of good humour, compassion, intelligence, and culture." You rang?

My story is a perfect example of a Colombiana preying on a gringo. I was sincere in my actions and intentions, she on the other hand was deceptive, callous, and calculated. She knew exactly what she was doing, and I KNOW, she knows it was wrong but chose to do it anyways. SHE is the one that will lose from this experience, not me.

I treated her as a woman, not as an object. Maybe that was a mistake.

We ARE all in this together.... I am about to score one point for Team Gringo.

*Acceptance Speach*

I would first like to thank PBH, for providing me the platford and opportunity to accept this award. Without it, I would have been walking into my trip COMPLETELY blind. As well, I would like to thank my friend Tom, for all his SOUND advice, reccomendations, and help. Lastly I want to thank everyone who has posted on BPH, for sharing their thoughts and experience, as well as EVERYONE who has replied to my post. I have learned a LOT from my experience, as well as from your replies. I hope this thread never dies, and people continue to learn, and share from it.

Thanks for the Award! I will cherish it, and show all my friends!

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

if someone shows me how to post pictures I will post pictures from my trip too

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

To answer some questions.... Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read about my experience. I'm so glad I've been able to share my experience with so many of you, that helped me in preparing for my trip. (THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH TOM!!) The version I posted was a VERY abbreviated version. There were many other things I could go on about, but decided, if I made it any longer, I'm sure it would have scared most people away.

I am 26 years old.

I'm confident that she has the laptop from her other boyfriend "Albert" in St.Maarten. She did not have one upon her return home for a few months, and then WHAM, one day she does. She claims it is her cousins, but after being there, I know it's hers. Everything is registered to her, ect..

The house has no running water, because A)There is no plumbing B)No houses in the Villa did. They all have Sisterns outside their houses, and that is their water supply used for bathing, dishes, drinking, and laundry (which is done by hand)

She was in St.Maarten working. She is also Venezuelan...she has duel citizenship.

I stayed at a hotel by my choice, and once I got there I am SOO glad I did. At least it had running water (albiet 100% cold!! bbrr!). I did spend one night at her place though. Had I wanted to spend each night there, it would not have been a problem, but keep in mind the entire house was maybe 500sqft. A tiny house. How am I suppose to get my grove on in that!? :P

Just to clarify, I DO NOT think that all Colombianas are like this at all. I do not consider this a "mark" against Colombian women, or the Country. I simply wanted to share MY experience, as I have learned many helpful things from this site, and wanted to give back what I could.

If I could write this story the way I wantED, it would be with her madly in love with me, and us planning a life together....but as we all know, that is just NOT how it turned out, so, whatcha gonna do. I have come to terms with it, and that is fine.

Without the relationship I had with her, I would never had the opportunity to Visit Colombia the way I did. She was my personal translator, tour guide ect while I was there. I could NOT have had the experience I had, without her, so for that I am thankful. I just wish she hadn't misled me the way she did.

That's ok though....I believe in a thing called "Karma", and what goes around, comes around.

Proud_Canadian comments on My First Colombian Experience in Bogota, Cucuta, and Villa Del Rosario

no your wrong... I had full intentions of developing a relationship with her, and trying to make her happy. She on the other hand, was not 100% into me from the beginning. Your absoloutely right when you say she had different candidates, and probably wants to choose the right one, but as for me being jaded, or biased....not true. I am 100% completely open minded, and unfortunately, I was probably a little too trusting. I thought what she was telling me was the truth, when in actuality she was telling other guys the SAME THING, right in front of my eyes.

She did not feel threatened by my laptop. She saw I was not online talking with girls, and I was going work, but it opened the door for her to get on hers as well.

The gas was not necessarily smuggled, as ALL the gas stations were like this!

Teaching in Cucuta Hello,

I love this site. Very helpful. I am a Canadian Citizen looking to move to Cucuta to teach english. Has anyone ever been there, or know of anyone there? Are there many school in that city? I have yet to find any postings for english teachers from that city.

Any help would be much appreciated.
