So,, the owners of the property LET THEM STAY on the land,, in many cases,, if not all,, the owners furnished a,,, OK,, a house is too kind of a word,, a shack,, w/o sanitation. Then,, and I'll be checking on this,,, the FARC / Paramilitary had the typical war crap,, and of course these tenants,, what to call them,, squatters,, had to leave,, yep,, that or probably be killed. I will have more to say about this,, plus,, I intend to make a trip to Choco or a a miminum send a family member to make a survey,, my only problem is why to tell him I need some general information,, plus,, another family member is with the police and is assigned to the Choco area. The price is higher in estrato 2, raises significantly in 3 and becomes VERY expensive if you live in a 4 or above. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND, living in estrato 4 would use the social insurance. This insurance is for POOR PEOPLE. I suppose a poor person could live in an estrato 4 but how could they afford the costs associated with living there,, if they were poor? People with a real job,, ie: Police, Teachers, City worker, Utility workers, electrical workers,, bus drivers etc. Have REAL insurance,, the private insurance is vastly superior,, about 5 times superior. Better doctors, clinics, equipment, facilities, hospitals etc. So,,, it seems the insurance for the POOR PEOPLE in the U.S. is VASTLY superior to the social medical insurance in Colombia,, actually,, it’s kind of sad to see almost free drugs in the U.S. ($5.00 per prescription), beautiful clinics, top notch hospital in the U.S… The poor folks in Colombia would think they had died and gone to heaven to have the same fine facilities. In half the country the cows are slaughtered in an independent facility,, probably zero inspection,, tests. The meat vendors in the cities? Do the major cities test the flies walking around on the meat? I’d almost bet the Colombian inspection system is INFERIOR to the U.S. Plus,, we all know the trust exuding from all public officials. Beef cuts and carcasses are hung in front of butcher shops,, rarely will they be refrigerated and when the person isn't cutting off a piece of meat he's shooing flies using the meat as a landing strip. Meat is kept in a refrigerated room at the grocery store,, similar to the U.S. BUT, large cuts are kept in the open, non refrigerated MEAT CASE. Need a kilo or so of meat? Point your finger at it,, matter fact,, stick your finger ON IT,,, matter of fact,, ask him to cut of a little piece,, so you can feel it,, don't like it,, they put it back in the case. Oh,, want it ground? They put it in a Grinder,, a hand grinder. They do wipe it with a cloth soaked in water,,, sometimes. The U.S. requires disinfectant for the ground beef grinder heads and the machines are inspected. So,, the U.S. system worked,, people were fined, fired, no one got sick.
