plokij comments on I NEED TO FIND A SAVVY AND RELIABLE BUSINESS CONTACT IN MEDELLIN...

you might want to contact Zuan, a former PBH member. Originally from Bucaramanga, he resides in Bogota now. As a fashion photographer he has close ties to the industry and used to run some import/export business himself. He might know the right people in Medellin. - former PBH member Zuan: Mr. Zuan Carreño, photographer Studio: Av. 24 # 39-79 Ap. 403 Park Way Bogota, D.C., Colombia, South America Cel: 300 289 2747 Tel: 759 33 08

It all depends on your style of living.

This topic has been discussed here a couple of times.

To research the former discussions, scroll down the main page until you find the Google search box on the left-hand side.

Enter "cost of living" into the box and do a search on this site.

You should find plenty of information..

plokij comments on Rudol Yethon, a poor German in Colombia

tobntno

thanks for the lookup in the telephone directory.

According to the entry, the person resides in a city
called Schelklingen - which turns out to be close to
Ulm, the city thats mentioned in the newspaper article:

www.schelklingen.de

Just klick on the map thumbnail.

BTW - thanks for translating, Kat1 !

plokij comments on Rudol Yethon, a poor German in Colombia

kat1 He looks German alright, but no way Yethon is a German
last name. Its correct spelling must have been corrupted
during his odyssee..

plokij comments on Cost of living in Cali Colombia

Hi Pete,

thanks for sharing the information and the fotos. A fabulous place indeed. Not everybody needs 4 brms, though. What do you think, would moderately equipped 2 bedrm apmt fit into your $1200 estimate, if one lives a fairly simple live without excessive chica chasing ?

Best, plokij

plokij comments on Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto concert in Bonn, Germany April 2

Well, whats the internet for ?

Googleing them brought up this piece of information:

Gaitero music dates back at least to the time of Bolivar. It is a fusion of indigenous and African influences, played on two flutes (gaitas), and a maraca, both of indigenous origin, and drums of African origin, from the descendants of the many African slaves who passed through this coast. The haunting melodies of the two gaitas are played in counterpoint to each other, and are combined with the steady, hypnotic beat of the small drum, the high-spirited and skillful improvisations of the other two drums, and the elaborate rhythms of the maraca.

Thanks for the info, kernow. I live close to Frankfurt. March 29th unfortunately is history.
I still would like to go, but know very little about Columbian music (just some traditional stuff). So I never heard of this group.
What kind of music do they play ?

TIA
