My novia will soon be applying for a student visa... the estimated wait time for an appointment (on the embassy website) is one day. What happens when she buys a PIN and calls the number to make an appointment? Is it possible to choose an appointment time (say, for the following week)? Or do they just give you an appointment - say for the next day - meaning that she would have to be ready with all of the documents in Bogota before calling?

I had always thought that people exaggerated the problems with the postal systems in South America - applying the reasoning that "it's a developing country so they must be dishonest".
