Piapo comments on Where to buy exotic fruit in medellin, like mangostinos (mangosteens)

Funny that you like mangostinos, my husband is mad about mangostinos too, he has tasted all colombian fruits but mangostinos is his favorite!

Piapo comments on Getting engaged in Bogotá

Gator's idea is lovely, I didn't get a formal proposal and I will always miss it! Monserrate is one of my favorite places in Bogota, that is the perfect place

Piapo comments on Great South American Roadtrip

No problem to start from Bogota, driving through cali, pasto and then Ecuador and so on. But you would miss the Amazon region, Venezuela and I am not sure about where to drive to Brazil. But sure It sounds like an amazing trip!

Piapo comments on eccohabs tayrona

Yes, well to both right and left of the road because they own both sides. The manager was paisa but I don't really know if he is Uribe's relative. One down side of the place is that they didn't have public phone and of course it didn't have beach. But nice place if you are only going to tayrona for a day trip

Piapo comments on Backpacker from Mexico to Colombia

Has anyone taken a diving course in Providencia islands?

Piapo comments on eccohabs tayrona

that is expensive! I think I paid 120 000 pesos for a cabin in Rio Piedra

Piapo comments on eccohabs tayrona

yes, tejasmarcos they are quite expensive. Last time i was in parque tayrona I lived in a cheap place called "Rio Piedra" just 1 km from the park entrance (we walked from there to the entrance, takes 20 min or so) I absolutely recommend it. They have AC in their cabins, swimming pool, river, pool etc. And it is much cheaper!

Piapo comments on COLOMBIANADAS

buenisimas. Tambiés les recomiendo el grupo de facebook de galeria de carteles populares :)

Piapo comments on Backpacker from Mexico to Colombia

Now, my question is.. as I am a Colombian I'm gonna need visa everywhere in central america. Does anyone knows if that is problematic? I mean, Mexico wants me to have a return ticket (I'm planning to travel by buss) and I imagine all the countries there want the same in order to give a tourist visa. Is it easy to get a visa e.g in Mexico when traveling to guatemala/belize or is it better to do everything in Colombia/from here in Europe?

Piapo comments on Buying etickets Bogota to Paris

well i dont know really because i live in denmark and they got a schengen visum so...

Piapo comments on Colombianos en cualquier parte del mundo

Riga, I was there 2 years ago. Quite interesting people you lived with... Latvians never smile! Although I liked Riga-by-night

Piapo comments on Backpacker from Mexico to Colombia

Is it better to take the diving certificate in Belize or Taganga?

Piapo comments on Backpacker from Mexico to Colombia

has anyone been in Belize?

Piapo comments on Property in Colombia

Do you think buying and renting to a estrato 3 family would be a good investment? I read an article about property. Riches do have money to buy so they don't want to rent anything; and the prices in Chapinero/Rosales (with the possibility with renting to foreign) are to high for my budget. What do you think?

Piapo comments on Colombia here I come!!!

that's ok, im a little girl

Piapo comments on Very Sad

If that is the girl you want why don't you marry her? Pop the question and maybe you'll be forgiven

Piapo comments on Termales

I loved it! I was there with my gringos parents-in-law and had an amazing day! They loved it too :)))

Piapo comments on Gringo perdido en Bogota

he he he very funny story :) Well, I imagine if that happened to my gringito I would be hyperventilating as your wife did :) hi hi hi

Piapo comments on Upscale finca hotels in Eje Cafetero

I loved the finca El Parcal, in Montenegro near the Coffee Park. The rooms were clean, beautiful landscape from the jacuzzi and swimming pool.

Piapo comments on

Tayrona is a very beautiful place to stay a few nights. If you like trekking then is the place to be. If you want a good bed and AC you should rent the bungalows they have; if you are more into adventure you should sleep in a tent with the rest of backpackers. I recommend it!

Piapo comments on How do I convince my son?

Take him to Cartagena or Santa Marta, sun & beach always help! and I say it because I'm 25...

Piapo comments on Best city to go

Bogota has everything! Many places to work as a volunteer and go out partying to any rhythm!

Piapo comments on Best hotels in Bogota and Medellin

I loved Apart-Hotel Hill House at Usaquen. Quiet and nice place to stay in. I think they only have 10 rooms and the price isn't bad at all.

Piapo comments on Lifestyle... Cartagena vs. Bogota

I forgot to say that the security in Los Andes is VERY high, as both sons of Uribe went there (actually I was in the same class with Tomas :)..) and perhaps you'll open your social circle if you're planning to take over the family business.

Piapo comments on Lifestyle... Cartagena vs. Bogota

Ducaticole, you don't even need to wait a year for start your university studies. As I told you before in the Universidad de Los Andes, the education is very similar to the american and the pensum is 90% in english. You can contact the international office for information about spanish courses, also given by the university. In Cartagena, you will not find a good university, maybe Universidad del Norte in barranquilla?

Piapo comments on Brief travel guide to Mompox

I strongly recommend the Casa Hotel San Andrés. I was there with my parents some years ago and we were very happy with the place. It is also very near the plaza. I do recommend you to take a meticulous look at the chalupa you'll take; ours was almost falling apart and I prayed Our Lady the hole trip because I was scared to dead :)

Piapo comments on Studying in Bogota

I don't think you shouldn't miss the chance to move to Colombia. I'm a Colombian in Europe and I think the best a person can do is to travel and experiencing new cultures. There are good universities in Colombia too. In Bogota, Los Andes University has a very good reputation locally and abroad. They have also many exchange programs to many places around the globe, so If you get bored in Colombia you can take breaks wherever you want! I don't think education in Canada is the most important thing you find in a CV but international experience. I'm sure of that!

Piapo comments on Avoiding our own people

I don't think in Colombia the word "gringo" or "negro" is denigrating. Actually I think the word "yankee" instead is used in Colombia to call a "bad" gringo, if you know what I mean...

Piapo comments on whats best a International Baccalaureate diploma or a us high school diploma?.

With IB you won't have any problems at least here in Europe. Some countries do make problems for people with US-High School only.

Piapo comments on Prescription Medications

You can buy anything in Colombia :) I least I've never experienced any problems in my 25 years of existence :)

Piapo comments on Before and after plastic surgery pictures

Do you know any Hostel/budget hotel in Barcelona? Please, can you recommend any hotelhostel in Barcelona. Im traveling in 2 weeks and Idont have a bed yet!!!

Piapo comments on I miss Bogota!!!

it seems so easy to live in a foreign country. I don't know where you live but where I am people is cold and shy, is definitely a very dry place with plastic people. I'm not closing my eyes, I do know I am not alone now, but lucky me I met the most wonderful and intelligent man, who loves colombia and colombians as well. Of course spending vacations in Colombia can leave a false impresion to tourists and foreign, but I'm a colombian and I know how reality is! If I come back one day I know it will be hard but that's the price to pay when you want to live near your family

Piapo comments on I miss Bogota!!!

You are missing the point The point is that there were always be pros and contras. I love Europe in many ways but also there are problems everywere. The problem is were do you feel good and happy, where can you really be yourself and where do you really want to live. Colombia has loads of problems but it isn't the only country suffering...

Piapo comments on Brief travel guide to Parque Tayrona

I just came from Tayrona Parque Tayrona is a MUST if you're travelling in Colombia. We lived 1 km from the park in a hotel called "Riopiedra". It was a nice place with swimming pool and bungalows with ac. We were travelling with my parents-in-law so we didn't want to rent a tent in the park. You should stay day 2 or more days and if you are a backpacker stay in a tent in the park. There's no need for a guide from the entrance to the beaches but you should pay for one to "pueblito". Many backpackers gather in Tayrona, and if you are foreign there is no danger to travel there. I just loved it!

Piapo comments on I miss Bogota!!!

Moving back I have a "good paid" job in Europe and I don't think I would earn the same amount of money in Colombia so I that's why I wouldn't. Of course crime is an issue but that doesn't scare me that much. I do worry about my husband, about his security; he doesn't care that much, he knows the political and economical situation of Colombia better than I do so he is aware of the dangers. I miss my family as I'm only child, my city and the people. Here I'm always acting as in a theather piece, I want to be my self and I don't think I'll find another place that I could call "home"

Piapo comments on Help me!!! Indian national wanting to marry a Colombian national in Colombai

Good luck! I'm going to Colombia in january also to get married. You should take a look to this web site:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsmare.shtml

Those are the papers most nationalities need (birth certificate, certificado de solteria and everything should have an apostille). I recommend you to take contact with a notary now, because it can take time to get married in the notary.Your fiance has also to send papers in at least one month before you get married. So I think you should reconsider your "surprise"

Good luck
