My Novia lives in Chiclayo , Peru and I am getting married there this fall.. I will try to spread the word about this new Peru board here on PBH to expats & Peru websites..

CanadaMan, Chiclayo is a nice city.

I am from Belgium and I live in Chimbote, Peru with my Peruvian girlfriend.

I lived in Trujillo many years ago and been to both Chimbote and Chicalyo. Chiclayo is very nice. Chimbote was more industrial but had one of the best cheviches there. Northern coast of Peru rules!

Bolivia es muchisimo mas barato que Perú, una comida en Bolivia te cuesta mas o menos 10 Pesos Bolivianos, el transporte tambien es económico.

Yeah, Chimbote is not really a nice place, lots of poverty and very unsafe. But yes, they have great ceviche (the best in Peru :) )! We are actually moving to Trujillo in August.

hi everyone i'm here too.

i went for over a month at the end of the year including lots of Lima, cuzco, M-P, two weeks in Huanchaco / Trujillo

i'm trying to decide if I like Colombianas more than Peruanas and it's REALLY TOUGH GOING!!

they are all so nice.

i am looking to get out of here in the coming 3-5 years and set up shop in one country or the other.

i'm good with languages and computers, maybe i'll do a business there. i live in USA but i'm canadian too.

i have my eye on a girl in Piura, we'll see.

maybe i'll go back to Peru at xmas.

i have in-depth info on the places listed if anyone wants it.

hope this forum cooks up - Peru is a fantastic country!

Bolivia is cheaper than Peru. My husband and I went to both between October '07 and April '08. We tend to go pretty basic so a matrimonial room in Bolivia was usually about $2-3 each while one in Peru was $4-5 each. You can get a meal for less than a dollar in both places, but you'll get more for your money in Bolivia. In Bolivia for about .80 cents US you can get silpancho (flattened pan fried meat (tastes like sausage) served with egg, rice, french fries and a small salad that consists of beets and carrots. Also, delicious saltenas are only 1 boliviano! Just .13 US when I was there. Don't know how the exchange rate is now. We have detailed food journals for Bolivia and Peru, including all prices and descriptions. If interested, write and I'd be happy to give you the links via email.
