The only thing I need from a hotel is a room with a good bed and a shower. Someone speaking English at the reception would be very convenient of course :).

Thanks Caroli Thank you for giving me this info. The link in your mail contained info I did not yet have and I am very pleased with the photo's.

Do you know how many time is involved by getting from Bogota to Bucaramanga by bus? I estimate it is about 400 kilometers (250 miles). Perhaps you even know the price for this busride?

I assume you stay with family so you can't give me the names of a few of the cheaper hotels. Your boyfriend, is he Colombian too? You don't have to answer this offcourse, but I was interested in him taking vaccins or malaria-pills or not.

Maybe someone els can give a comment on the need of taking precautions for one or more deseases going to Colombia?

I also would be glad to hear from other peoples impressions of Bucaramanga.

just a simple question Reading the comments on this site, I run very often into the same thing: 'I go to Colombia to teach English and to learn Spanish'. It seems like most of the people out of the USA going to Colombia can only find jobs teaching English. Am I right?
nb: I find that very odd, for how can you teach people another language if you do not speak theirs? Is this a common thing in Colombia? Can everybody teach English in Colombia or are they realy asking for papers/a degree first?
It interests me because I would like to go there and find myself a way of living but I do not know what to do there for a kind of job.
Though I am from The Netherlands I could teach English offcourse . . .

By the way:
I have read some topics here and placed one myself to get info about Bucaramanga. Until I read this topic I believed no-one ever gets to Bucaramanga and returned or that the city moved to the bottom of the ocean last Christmas. :-)
If you have info or photo's, can you share them with me?
