PaisaTours.com comments on Guide to Providencia Great write up. If you want to see photos of the hotels in Providencia, there's a few at http://www.paisatours.com/providencia.htm. Just turning up and arranging a hotel would be fine if it's not peak tourism season.

PaisaTours.com comments on Western Park Tayrona Yes it literally seems to be "you can put your tent here". Don't expect a shower. My understanding is that Playa Cristal is in the large bay East of Neguanje. Check out Google maps satellite images. I haven't been East of Canaveral - might have to go back again (sob)....Where exactly is Mendihuaca? On the coast? Palomino.... how great? I just went to Dibulla (even further East) beautiful - but the sea was murky brown. Palomino similar?

PaisaTours.com comments on best beaches in colombia Keep walking West from Cabo San Juan (Park Tayrona) all the way until you can go no further and there's a nudist beach. Playa Cristal is beautiful - in the same bay there's apparently a nudist beach, but no-one is ever there anyway, so you might as well consider them all nudist beaches. Cabo San juan is pretty, but nothing compared to the beaches a little further east at Punta Gallinas (see http://www.paisatours.com/guajira.htm for extensive travel advice on La Guajira). Rosario islands does have some lovely beaches, but almost all are fake (though you wouldn't guess).

PaisaTours.com comments on Cider It's like - is aguardiente produced in Cornwall? Even if it was would you want to drink it? Likewise Colombian cider - even if it does exist - why bother? Chris http://www.paisatours.com - Colombia Travel Guide

PaisaTours.com comments on American Traveling to Colombia Yes it is safe by and large, though certain areas should not be visited. If you want some advice on where to visit, see http://www.paisatours.com - an online colombia travel guide.

PaisaTours.com comments on Travel safety: a general introduction Mahina - you're favoured nephew is rather uninformed. Cartagena has long been a perfectly safe city to visit. Even luxury cruise ships dock these days. If you're paranoid about safety issues, see the Colombia map and advice on safety at http://www.paisatours.com/map.htm
PaisaTours.com comments on Western Park Tayrona Both Neguanje and Concha have campsites, easily accessible by road. there's no showers though. Having just been, you can find extensive advice at http://www.paisatours.com/park_tayrona.htm

PaisaTours.com comments on Hotel for my middle age family coming to Bogota and Santa Marta Hotel Albama in Bogota perhaps? Santa Marta - not sure you'll find anything decent for just $50. Why Santa Marta though?
PaisaTours.com comments on Boutique & Upmarket Small Hotels - Suggestions? Ermmmm... This thread is meant to be about boutique hotels rather than wheelchairs. Could we keep it on topic?
PaisaTours.com comments on Hotel near Bogota airport? I stayed at Habitel also - and likewise when I missed a connecting flight. No complaints, good value, and really close to the airport.

PaisaTours.com comments on cheap air travel to Bogota Oopsss. here's that guide: http://bigtravelweb.com/travel/2007/10/21/south-america-airpasses-flights-guide/

PaisaTours.com comments on cheap air travel to Bogota Andy, sorry 4 delayed response. Trying to calculate Hahn airpass prices yourself is pretty complex - don't bother! I've booked it for many clients when I previously worked for a tour operator - it's almost always the cheapest means. Rarely is it cheapest to book directly with Copa. Find a specialist tour operator that can book the hahn airpass, see this guide to airpasses in South America for some advice.

PaisaTours.com comments on Dodgy taxi drivers are all over the place in Colombia. My worst was in Medellin. The guy was clearly high on coke - sniffing and scratching his nose. A complete lunatic, burning it at top speed through red lights at about midnight. An utter madman.

PaisaTours.com comments on Brits need Vaccinations? I think you're supposedly meant to have thyphoid as well, but in reality you don't really need anything. Except maybe yellow fever - not cos you'll catch it, but some countries (eg. Brazil) won't even allow you to enter the country if you've recently (ie. in the past 2 years) been to a "yellow fever country" like Colombia.

PaisaTours.com comments on possible visit to Colombia Both Satena and Avianca have flights from san andres to Bogota. San Andes to Cartagena try Aerorepublica.
PaisaTours.com comments on Cartagena & Manizales I stayed at Hotel da pietro in Cartagena - no complaints, nothing fancy though.

PaisaTours.com comments on Return ticket and lenght of stay If you've a flight out of rio you'll have no problems.

PaisaTours.com comments on Colombia Travel Guide - Feedback please Yes I have spotted that van also. Great bit of publicity for the site - it's absolutely nothing to do with me.

PaisaTours.com comments on How safe is Monteria, Cordoba? Uk Foreign and Commonwealth office advies against travel to Cordoba. Haven't been there myself but would love to.
PaisaTours.com comments on Beware of Your Neighbor...... Completely agreed - Colombians are the worst drivers I've ever found anywhere.
PaisaTours.com comments on What is a good air fare price from Cali to Bogota? Check Avianca & Aerorepublica, but Aires normally has the cheapest fares.
PaisaTours.com comments on Colombia Travel Guide - Feedback please Thanks for the feedback guys -I'm working on those maps....
PaisaTours.com comments on How many of you PBHers live in Medellin? Live in Poblado... the city views are sweet.....
PaisaTours.com comments on cheap air travel to Bogota Andy, I think you need to look into what is called a Hahn airpass (also known as an "All America Airpass") - you'll find the tickets to be much cheaper than those purchased directly from the airlines.
