orestesdd comments on I am cuban, and I don't like Miami either. I would only like Miami if I had lots of money, but I do not have that kind of money. I have friends in Miami, but they certainly seems to make more money than I do even though I have a very good job here in San Francisco, but San Francisco is a very expensive city, and no matter how much money one makes, one always feels to be behind economically.

orestesdd comments on K2 Follow to Join Visa question Question, if the child is already 19 and he will be 20 by the time he gets his K-2 visa, does he still need his father permission to leave the country? I am having a similar situation with my Colombian fiancee and her son. Thanks.

orestesdd comments on usher127 usher, I enjoyed reading your posts and mostly your post about buying a property in Colombia. However, I don't have that kind of money at hand now, but I would like to buy a property in possibly Bogota when I retire (at least 10 years from now). Even by then, I don't think I will need to invest that much money to live there. Btw, I do speak Spanish fluently, for I am a Cuban native speaker, and I hope this will help me. I am planning to visit Colombia at least once a year to get to know Colombia, and thus get ready for the retirement time. Great Posts!!!!

orestesdd comments on For gringos is easy to say "I love you" as it is to go to the toilet I have lived in the US for 28 years, and I don't think it is easy for a man to say "I love you". It has not been easy for me either even though I am now in love with a colombian woman. So I don't know where that idea came from. Just my $0.02!!!

orestesdd comments on Lonely Planet travel writer about Colombia never went there Well I don't know Colombia enough, but I have been there a couple of times, and hopefully will keep visiting Colombia at least once a year. I plan to retire there, and I need to know the country by visiting as often as my wallet allows me. By the way, I found a lot of good information about Colombia here, and I am glad I found this web site.

orestesdd comments on Emigrating with debt? How about the other way? Someone who wants to leave Colombia but has one of those debts she got into to have her son going thru high school. Will she be able to leave Colombia without paying her child's high school loan? Could she make arrangement to pay this debt from the US? Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Business in Colombia Diana: I think that the tours which you spoke of may be a good way to make money in Colombia. When I was in Colombia in February, someone mentioned such an idea, for Colombia is a beautiful country to show off to foreigners. I guess you will have to hire people who speak English to make it work. One thing can be done is to open such agency here in the U.S. and have some good contacts in Colombia and LISTO.

orestesdd comments on Chavez, Correo, and Lula are all communists like Castro, and like Castro, they will bring their countries to total misery except for themselves. Some of this so-called leftist leaders, are just as fake as Castro, and perhaps even worse than Castro. It is time for Chavez to leave his presidency!

orestesdd comments on Advice needed for relationship I live in San Francisco and I have lived here for 28 years and I do not think that San Francisco is better than Bogota Colombia. If I could make the same salary in Bogota as I make here, I'd say that Bogota is a better city. Besides, I speak the language since I am cuban. Anyhow, I think that Bogota is better in the long run, but that's just me.

orestesdd comments on How to transfer money to Colombia to buy land I was told that you need a Davivienda account number in either Citibank or Wachovia which was not supplied above. I guess that particular account belongs to Davivienda S.A. and then the money goes form this intermediary account to Davivienda in Colombia.
|
|
orestesdd comments on Transfering US funds to a Colombia bank (Part II) I was trying to transfer money to a Davivienda account, and I understand all the intermediary bank, but how do I know what the other person will receive? My bank says it only wires USD currency, but I am afraid that the account in Davivienda will not accept USD. Does the intermidiary bank do the conversion from USD to COP? I need to deposit 2.5 million COP in that Davivienda account, but nobody will tell me how many dollars 2.5 million COP is. This is really bad when I can't guess what I need to do and this is not really a large amount of money. I'd appreciate any inside here. Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Which banks can transfer money to Colombia? How do you transfer or wire money to Davivienda? Does anyone has done that? Do I need just the SWIFT code and the bank account number of the person in Colombia? Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Wiring money to Colombia from the States. Actually the ABA number is a 9 digit number found in the left lower corner of your checks if you have a checking account.

orestesdd comments on Colombia: Rebel memos raise questions I think what happened was that the original document was scanned into these computers and when you do that sometimes the copies are not perfect. Also if one tries to make copies of a copy, you get similar results. Then you get DIGITAL files in your computer (just copies of scanned copies), which show those symptoms.

orestesdd comments on Toda la verdad sobre la muerte de Raúl Reyes Diana, this is all Castro ideology, for even after his death he would never pay all the suffering he has done to his people, not to mention Angola and Chile back when I was still living in Cuba. Even he sent Che (another leftist) to Bolivia to start all this trouble, and do not forget Nicaragua too. I hope Colombia can get rid of FARC one day. By the way, It has been claimed that the goverment of Ecuador has been supporting FARC, and I am sure now that Chavez does too (no wonder it can get those hostages free!)

orestesdd comments on Fed up with this guy I will not ignore him so that I can see his view point in the board, but I'd bet he is a puppet of FARC

orestesdd comments on Mononoke28 Diana: My fiancee Patricia is now in visa journey by the name of "PattyS". She registered there last week and I already received her visa approval via email. Now I am waiting for the actual NOA2. I just thought I should let you know here, for I have very little access to visa journey since "PattyS" is her user name.

orestesdd comments on AA no more I had similar experience with AA while traveling from SFO to MIA to BOG. My plane from SFO arrived at MIA on Time around 6 am on a Friday. Then, I was supposed to take a flight to BOG at 10:15 am. Needless to say, the 10:15 am flight to BOG was canceled, and then I was given another flight to leave MIA at almost 5:00 pm. The bad thing about this was the experience that my friends back in Bogota had regarding my flight. My friend called AA at about 11:00 am at the airport in BOG to find out about my flight. Needless to say, they were told the flight was "on time" even though it was canceled almost an hour earlier since MIA and BOG have the same time. Then, they went to the airport about 12:00 pm (I was feeling misarable since I did not have a way to tell them about my next flight and the cancelation). At this point, my friends were told that the flight was canceled. Anyhow, I was glad to see my friend face when I arrived in Bogota later that night. I don't remember how she figured out what flight I was coming in, but I was very happy to see a familiar face late at night waiting for me. At any rate, I will still fly with AA, for it has the better conections for me. I don't think the flight was canceled for mechanical troubles. I believe it was canceled because the flight was not full enough and they could combine a flight later in the afternoon which was actually FULL.

orestesdd comments on Mononoke28 Diana I came back from Bogotá a couple of days ago. I had a nice trip and a nicer wedding engagement party in Chia with my fiancee and her family members. According to the time line, we are not supposed to get the NOA2 until late March or March 29 (164 days). I had a beautiful time in Bogota, and I am very happy now, for we are now closer in spirit than we have ever been, and our love is growing day by day. Thanks for all the advice you have left at visajourney, and although I don't log in there any more, we still look at the board at least once a week.

orestesdd comments on President For Colombia Who? Berrak-Obama? I don't think his first name sound too good in Spanish when it's combined with his first last name initial.

orestesdd comments on Mononoke28 I am about to visit Colombia this week. I don't think we are even close to get the NOA2 until March at the earliest. Immigration is really SLOW. Thanks for posting a message on my profile, and I added you as a friend if you don't mind

orestesdd comments on how long does a k 1 visa take I know Mononoke from visajourney, and she is correct about everything. I am about in my 4th months of waiting and according to visajourny.com it will not be approved here unitil some time in March if all goes well. Then, it goes to NVC and from there to the embassy in Bogotá. All in all, I believe it will take about 9 to 10 months.

orestesdd comments on Spanish Verb Form Questions If you want to learn how to conjugate a spanish verb, go here http://tradu.scig.uniovi.es/conjuga.html For instance, if you want to know how to conjugate "to snow" (nevar), which is an irregular verb in spanish, just use that conjugating helper above. orestesdd comments on OLIVER STONE: LAS FARC SON "UN EJERCITO CAMPESINO"... He does not know anything about Latin America. He is just a stupid rich director. How come he does not give his millions to help lots of poor people found here in his own USA? He just want to make money....and he should know better about what's affecting our countries before he opens his stupid mouth.

orestesdd comments on place to stay in Bogota Where is exactly the physical location or locations of BCL? I'd like a friend of mine in Bogota to check out the place, but without an actual address it is almost impossible. I went to BCL web site, but only the "barrio" is mentioned with no indication where the locale(s) 's addresses may be.

I am traveling to Bogota in February and I see that the reservation page is now secured; however, I'd like to hear some recommendations here. orestesdd comments on Peter: Tax and your foreign Pension sloopskipper, I still think that California would love to get their hands on my 401K since I earned all my money in California. By the way, I am a computer programmer, and I understand what you are saying. I am still confused about how to maintain a physical address in the US when I don't even own any property here. I've been tall elsewhere that I should keep my money in a US bank, but I will find that difficult once I move to Colombia. I will need a bank which allows me to use its ATM card permanently from Colombia. I know that I am years away from retiring if my health holds up; however, if I am forced to retire, then I may have to move to Colombia sooner rather than later. Any more comments are really appreciated on this subject. Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Send money to Colombia The problem I have is that my bank seems to be charging me $5.00 per transaction, and I am not only a customer, but an employee for this bank. Even if I were to open an account in the US, I don't see a way for a bank to be accepting transaction from Colombia all the time. When I went to Colombia last August, I had to specified how many days I was going to be in Colombia to my bank so that it would not freeze my account while I was there using my ATM Debit Visa card. So are the any banks accepting ATM transactions all the time from Colombia? Could someone list them here? Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Need to send money to Colombia I would also like to know if anyone has used xoom.com to send money to Colombia. Thanks.

orestesdd comments on Which ATM/debit card do you use for Colombia? Well I was in Colombia last August, and all ATM transaction using my Visa Debit ATM card cost me $5.00 US dollars. So I did not get a break per transaction, but then again my bank is not one I would recommend even when I work for it.

orestesdd comments on best ways to Send money to Colombia Does anyone know of any bank in California where I can open such account? I would like to send money on a regular basis to Colombia but either moneygram or western union is charging too much or the online service setup is too complicated and complex to establish an easy way to send money. I wonder if anyone here knows anything about NEXXO. Nexxo has a web site, and someone here in San Francisco approached me to set up an account with Nexxo, but I refused because I was not sure if it was legit or just another scam. Thanks.
