Well hi!
I saw your request for ratings of hotels in Medellín, I live in Medellin, so I can tell you which hotels are nice. the ones you mentioned are all located in El Poblado, which is the nicest area, were you are perfectly safe, you can walk, go to great malls, the Lleras Park, upscale restaurants, etc. If you are not renting a car and don't want to expend much on cabs, maybe you'll prefer a hotel like Dann Carlton (one of the fanciests, they have low rates for weekends) it is located in Poblado Avenue, which allows you to move carefree in public transportation, or by foot, and is close to pretty much everything you'll need. Poblado Plaza and Portón Medellín are smaller hotels, but really nice ones, also with easy access and located in El Poblado. I hope you'll find my information usefull and have a great time in Medellín! ps. I recommend you go to il forno restaurant (delicious italian food, yet really unexpensive US$7 full meal)

If you need any kind of legal advice or any kind of procedure with the DAS here in Colombia let me know. I have a good lawyer who will help you with whatever you need. He used to work with the DAS and now he is helping foreigners to get the papers legally and quick. so let me know if you need his help. jorgeaev at yahoo.es

Thanks a lot for all your comments. I will be visiting Bogotá more often now, for I am planning to retire in Bogotá or Chia. The only problem I am having is banking in Colombia, for people here don't seem very happy with the banking system in Colombia.

Now I would like to know where I can buy a sport coat in Bogota. Nobody seems to give me the correct directions. I will be in Bogota in February 2008 for another 10 days.
