yo wayne....thanks for the e and the friendship. that's my middle name. i was a war baby, named after douglas wayne macarthur...

didn't mean to get off thread last night, but some/one of these clowns starting to get off on my wife just pushed the buttons and i fired back about how it really is in colombia and don't test your strength on that turf. the family--mine and others--threat that crap with deadly seriousness and folks...especially the crazy/foolish ones should/better tread with caution.

what does 'olq' stand for?

anyway, welcome to this crazy family and i truly wish you all the luck in the world. the ladies of colombia are as good as GOD made...for the most part, they'll treat their mates as they're treated.
peace, douglas

Douglas, God's blessings to you and your family also. Ol(d) is a play on an age I find it hard to feel. I use it in some forums as a sort of oxymoron. Q is short for my fraternity. And Dog is a nickname for the fraternity, as well as the obvious eufemism male tendencies. LOL

There's some stuff here I need to put into place - or so I think - before heading south. Thanks for your offer to provide some info and opinion. I very much appreciate it, and will take advantage of your kindness.

there's an old saying, 'where the heart is right, the path is rightuous' you impress me as having the right motives and intentions...as a result, all will work it's way out. even if it's final analysis is different than the heart's desires, it'll be soft and easy.

i went to school at berkeley in california...land of the demonstrations. and outside of this little store where we shopped, was a poster of one of the ubiquitous gurus so popular in the mid 60's, swami satchitananda....there on the poster above his incredible smiling face, were the words...'no appointments, no disappointments.' wise words. heed them.

well i truly wish you and the lady the best that karma will allow and hope you both fare well and make of your meeting, the most possible.

peace, brother,
douglas

I am so blessed. Each day I have the ability to make life better. Not just for me but for many. I understand the poster saying. For me it is different however. Or maybe I am not accurately plugged into the meaning. Aren't dissapointments a part of life? I mean don't dissapointments stimulate growth? Help me understand.

Being a child of the 60's I am sensitive to the fact that the journey is not just about getting to the destination. There are moments of awareness, learning, discovery, rest, reflection, sharing and rediscovery. All to be valued. I try not not get into negative words - my own journey - it's all about learning. That is what I try to focus upon. Learning and sharing.

Hey you mentioned getting your daughter out of school and into college. I used to work in higher education. If I can help or you want to bounce some thoughts off someone let me know.

Thanks for your well wishes

Wishing you and your family the very best.

well, wayne....sorry it took me so long to get over here.

as for the destination....the way i heard it, there is no path, no journey and no destination. why? because, it's impossible to become what you/we already are. and since the all place, the no place, is everywhere present...like the "om" point. you're always, already there.

it's such a contradiction. we spend lives, searching, lightening our loads, cleaning up our acts, refining, purifying, etc. only to discover that all along, we always were, that which we sought, our own REAL self, one, finally, with GOD.

you're gonna have to ask elmo on that one, the only one i've stayed at is a very expensive one with little cabins around the pool. i had to fly into bq because of weather one time, and while there, the guerillas blew up the runway, so i was stuck there for about a week. and that, friend, was years ago. e me: dwmte7 at yahoo.com

OlQDog... I just read your post to Doug about your trip to BQ. Nice post. I'm glad you posted it, instead of an p.m. to doug (that ol' fart!).... lol, but that was interesting... especially since I have yet to visit BQ, but have spent time in Bogota, Cali, pasto, and Medellin. Take care and ...BUEN VIAJARA!

hi wayne...thanks for the post...my e: dwmte7 at yahoo.com

sounds like you really enjoyed yourself. could use a bit of that myself. my wife is in colombia right now visiting with the family and tending a sick mother. i'm jealous. i'm here tending the youngest (laura...sweet sixteen) and basically being bored and lonely. i don't go out anywhere so i sit here in paradise, where we live and feed the gator occassionally and just twiddle my thumbs a lot.

why didn't you see medallo? can't imagine someone wanting to go to bogota and not medellin. bogotal reminds me of the new york of colombia...cold, impersonal and arrogant. with all respect to those that like it there, i have absolutely no connect with the place. i did however get laid real good there in my original coming to colombia...a working girl who did me for free cause she liked me.....??? it was great. good memories.

No did not go to Bogota. I hope to next visit. Mainly because I met some folks from there that own the english speaking City Paper - two Canadians. I have a friend that really likes the p4p in Meddellin. I spent most of my time in Barranquilla. Though I did make it to both Santa Marta and Cartegena for the day. I like to hear about the freebies. As said before there are plenty of good times to be had in Barranquilla, and women looking for love. Some in all of the wrong places:-)

My best. Don't let boredom get you in trouble.
