NotoriousGIB1K comments on Colombia Peso Falls on Concern U.S. Slowdown to Hurt Exports

Good thing I have a pornographic memory. I dug it up for ya Roc. He also considered the money we throw into social security a fraud (speech 3 at mark 4:50). Ron Paul speech at CPAC 2/7/8 part 1 of 3 http://youtube.com/watch?v=-oaD9oM4xQo He states it at mark 1min15secs

Opps, my bad, it was KIZZ I was thinking about. The guys who dressed up like WWF wrestlers.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Bamboo is catching on among green architects

Damn, that was an interesting article. 5X stronger then concrete - WTF!

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Colombia Peso Falls on Concern U.S. Slowdown to Hurt Exports

Ron Paul would have been good. He was all for civil liberties & getting rid of income tax. That would have been interesting. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about when it came to economics.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Colombia Peso Falls on Concern U.S. Slowdown to Hurt Exports

I'm suffering from electile-dysfunction (The inability to become aroused over any of the choices for President put forth by either party during an election year), but I will not vote for McCain because I'm under the impression he is all for home land security & keeping us in the war. I feel as if our freedoms have been eroded enough & we need to quit imposing our will on other countries & get our troops back home. Screw the patriot act. I'm not voting for Hillary, I think 1 Clinton was enough & I get the impression she votes for what's best for her - not her people. Also, due to tensions in the Middle East - I'm not so sure having a female president in office would be the wisest choice right now. Which leaves me w/ Obama. He's inexperienced, but charismatic - he can organize & put people on his staff that are experienced. I believe his background & charisma will give him an edge in repairing our international relations. He is all for making the government ACCOUNTABLE with his ideas of putting all legislation & decisions online & letting people voice their opinions PRIOR to something becoming law/policy. This is one of my biggest gripes - the government needs to be put in check. He plans on doubling the R&D budget to find alternatives to our dependency of oil. T o me he seems to have true vision & purpose & I get the impression he really cares. I guess that's all considered part of his charisma. What about you? Which dumb ass will you be voting for?

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Medellín Bus to the Iron Maiden Concert in Bogota

WTF! These guys aren't dead yet? I remember seeing this band on lunch boxes when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I'm in my early 30's now.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Colombia Peso Falls on Concern U.S. Slowdown to Hurt Exports

Sorry to vent here about this, but fucking Bush & his administration have nearly made me embarrassed to call myself an American. He has screwed the U.S. economy & our international relations. I have never voted in my life, but for the first time ever I will make my vote count so no dumb ass like him gets into office again.

No idea - but that's sick if those prices are true.

ROFL Medo, your powers of observation serve you well.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on 1.00 USD = 1,899.00 COP

jh816 thanks for the explanation. When do you think it might stabilize around $1980 again?

NotoriousGIB1K comments on 1.00 USD = 1,899.00 COP

True Raaay, but I've already calculated my spending budget while there & it made roughly a $150.00 difference based on the fact I was planning 2000 COP per $1. LOL - That's halfway to buying a PS3 I've been holding out on. I'm sure I'll still go as long as it doesn't drop more then another 100 COP. However if there's news later on that suggests dollar vs COP ratio may change in the near future in my favor I'll definitely hold out.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on English Teachers we are still hiring more ! at Peterson's Bogota.

I know a girl in Bogota who speaks great English. I forwarded her a link of this post in case she might be interested.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on 1.00 USD = 1,899.00 COP

I don't get why the hell the value of the dollar vs COP can fluctuate so much. Back in 2007.09.10 17:19:16 UTC 1$ = 2199 (Raaay's old post) & now it's 1.00 USD = 1,896.91 COP 9.25am WTF! I'm happy that it makes things cheaper for you Raaay, but for me I was planning a trip in March & I may just hold out if it keeps dropping.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on 1.00 USD = 1,899.00 COP

A bit off topic but, damn nice website Raaay. My type of style as well. I'll be looking you up if I ever end up needing some furniture in Colombia.

I will be leaving Ohio for Medellin in late March in case you need help then.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on 1.00 USD = 1,899.00 COP

Any predictions and explanations on whether the dollar will be worth more or less COP by late March?

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Need Advise

I feel you Gringomogan. Ever since the Bush administration I am almost embarrassed to be an American. I'm sick of of the taxes AND social security we are forced to pay. I could live w/ a sales tax, at least then I'm only taxed when I buy something as it should be IMO.

I can't wait to see all the negative feedback you get. I posted a much more respectful question & got flamed to no end. I'm starting to wonder if this board serves any purpose for anyone other then people who already live in Colombia. Regarding your topic, I did find this as I was looking for a place to stay as well. Maybe it will help. http://www.theapartmentmedellin.com/index.html

Thank you Gator, I'm sorry, I did want some honest input before leaving, however some of the dis-respectful input by some members was unwarranted. I should have been better then to give into it & fuel the fire. I guess as a US citizen I may be spoiled by my rights. Any cop around here who fucks up & gets caught ends up in jail, fired & the city or station gets sued. I find it astounding that the Constitution does not seem to be enforced at the street level & they basically play a role as the judge, jury & executioner according to most of you. GIB please accept my apologizes & to any moderator out there feel free to delete this thread. It has gone off on a tangent & my other two questions were never addressed anyways.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Laws For Visiting Tourists & 2 Other Questions.

LOL GIB - didn't meant to hit a nerve with you - watch out for the police when you go "fuck someone up for real". You might have to bend over again or get taken under a bridge and shot.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Laws For Visiting Tourists & 2 Other Questions.

WTF are you talking about robi? That was not me, although ironically I am perusing luxury apartments in the Medellin area now.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Laws For Visiting Tourists & 2 Other Questions.

Thanks, JH, yes I've been studying a few hours a day in Spanish for a little over a month, but still have a ways to go before I can speak fluently. I have hired a translator, a local (Medellin) English teacher to translate for me while I am there. Also, I am a product of my environment in some ways. I have been pulled over in my own country over 17 or 18 times during my 15 years of driving. I would chalk roughly half of them due to police profiling or police fishing. You know the BS when you're driving home between 2-3 AM & a cops pulls you over for failure to use a turn signal or worse your license plate light is out in hopes of catching you committing a more serious offense such as DUI or possession. I finally got fed up w/ it one day & started studying law. I prefer to be ahead of the game on my visit then to be one of those dildos that bends over for a cop or jumps when he says jump.

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Laws For Visiting Tourists & 2 Other Questions.

Thank you, nueva york bombero, for the advice. I hope it is as you say, but I'm not one to rely on hope alone. Just to clarify for any other responders, I was not insinuating that a US citizen should have more rights then a Colombian. I really just wanted to know if I had equal rights as a Colombian & if I was protected under, "POLITICAL CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA ON 1991".

NotoriousGIB1K comments on Laws For Visiting Tourists & 2 Other Questions.

What's up with the animosity? Is this what the newbie treatment is around here. I do not plan to commit any crimes. The only reason I asked is because I read that Colombian police officers may try & extort me for money. Without knowing my rights how am I to know whether something I did was wrong or not or whether the officer had a legal right to stop me in the first place. No need to be asses around here - especially to someone who is leaving the American attitude behind & plans on respecting his hosts.
