My wife and I are going trough thesame right now. She's seven months pregnant. And they had the nerve to ask her if she was sure if the baby was mine. "It's our first" They are really big JERKS there. They have no sympathy, nor consideration for no one. It is understanding they have a job to perform. But who are we kidding ;the system does not help us the US citizens in these situations. We have to stand in line and wait. But there should be something done on how they treat and help people. We a little respect and kindness as the decent people we are.
Thanks to everyone. It just seems that here we can express our bad experiences and talk about what is important for are well being.

I'm going trough a similar issue. My spouse enterd the country as an ilegal inmigrant and was here for almost ten years. However she was never deported and left the country on her on will. A plus.
Regardless the amount of time, on the other hand just being in the US ilegal causes more conflicts. But no harm yet. You may need what they call a "waiver" with strong back up comments explaining of why when and how she entered the US?? And why this causes you or the Citizen Hardship. I had mine done by an attorney.
Another documents that may be necessay are bills, pictures, marriage certificates. However every case varies. And most of the times the waiver is approved to US citizen with no criminal records, So I've heard.

Has any one or does anybody know?. About waivers for people that have been ilegal in the US for several years. Are the usually denied or approved? I'm a US citizen married to a Colombian wife, who was in the US ilegally, but was never deported and left the U.S. voluntarely, and never had a criminal record of any kind. Plus we are expecting a baby in September. I just hope it gives us time to have our baby in the United States.
Thanks to all.

I´ve been going trough the whole process for almost a year now. You must submit your paperwork in the U.S. BUT, be prepared to travel to the Colombian embassy in Bogota when you receive a notice to do so by mail, stating time and date.
make sure you have all the paperwork organized and in the order the want it to be.
I went with my wife, and we were coming and going for a whole week. I had to return to the US, and my wife ended up staying a total of 20 days in Bogota. Untill finally they got all the paperwork exactly how the wanted to see it. They are real ass... there.
And most of the staff that barely speak any english are Colombian. Nothing against them; all my imediate family are Colombian´s. But like I said before they are real ASS wipes. Excuse my french. There just no help what so ever, and have an attitude problem.

Dude my wife is Colombian. I`m a US citizen. We have been married for almost five years. Last year my wife had to travel to Colombia due to a death in the family.
while her legal status was in the process. I hired an attorney for legal purposes. He informed that is a lot faster when you get married in the country where the beneficiery is from. In this case in Colombia. However we had been married in the States, and now we had to request a waiver. But everything seems to be going OK so far. It´s just very time consuming. GOOD LUCK
