Visa for France

What is the process for a Colombian citizen to get a tourist visa for France (To visit family). Is it the Schengen Visa or is there a tourist visa specifically for France. Also any info on fees and timeframes would be much appreciated. I did try the embassy page http://www.ambafrance-co.org/ but it doesn't work on any browser and Google returned http://www.ambafrance-co.org/spip.php?article478 which seems to talk about a tourist visa for "los Territorios francés de Ultra-Mar"? Thanks i ...

Hotel Panaca

Hotel Panaca: http://www.panaca.com.co/home.html Has anyone stayed in the above hotel, and of course if so, would you recommend it. We want to see some scenery and get involved in some outdoor activities…kayaking, etc for about 5 days in June. I´m told there is no pool in this hotel, is there one close? Also, we won´t have a car, we´ll be flying from Bogotá. Will the lack of a car be a big disadvantage during our trip, and for getting to/from the hotel from the local airport? If a ...

Property price question

Got a specific question for the PBH property heads…. What is the current price range cada m2 for a new apartment in Cedritos Estrata 4 (circa 90m2) (good location on the 146). And of course do you think this area is appreciating. I’ve looked on www.metrocuadrado.com to get an idea but their tables are primarily for existing properties. If any of you have any good web sources for property in Bogotá other than metrocuadro let me know… Much appreciated ...

Banks and bank accounts

Banks and bank accounts… Here’s the deal. 6 months in Colombia, (but planning on longer residency) valid cedula de Extranjera, married to a Colombiana… Went into Davivienda in October last, and opened an account in my name alone simply by producing my Irish passport, no questions asked… Had a few problems with Davivienda´s service and wanted to transfer some funds from back home to invest here, so I went to a few other banks. Went to 2 large international banks, (they of cou ...

Foreign Exchange investment... Too good to be true?!

Re Finas Forex https://www.finanzasforex.com/Default.aspx?len=Eng Anyone on PBH involved in this? Seems to be proving pretty popular in Colombia. Is it is just another backstreet pyramid scheme dressed up with a fancy website? (The feedback on it on youtube is mixed??) ...

Internet bank charges

I've an account with Davivienda and I just realised that they charge 700 pesos for all online transactions? (and 1200 if you phone them??) Do all banks in Colombia charge this?

Snooker

Anyone know where I can get a game of snooker in Bogota? I've seen many billiards/pool places around but do they have snooker? on a full sized table?

Driving instructor/school in English

I need to learn to drive in Bogota, and between my rudimentary Spanish and the Juan Pablo Montoya attitude of a lot of the drivers in Bogota, I’m going to need a registered instructor/driving school who speaks pretty good English, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks ...

Driving licence in the US

Posting on behalf of a Colombian friend of mine. She is going to the US soon (for a few months) and wants to know how she can get a licence to drive there. She has a licence here of course but should she get an international licence here before she goes or can she get a US licence in the States on the basis of her colombian licence? And if she can get the licence sorted here what cost and timeframe are wee talking about. Cheers... ...

One way v Return ticket

I’m heading to Colombia shortly for at least 1 year. Given that I don’t have a predetermined date when I will be leaving Colombia, is it ok to travel on a 1 way ticket? Or will the authorities/immigration question why I don’t have a return ticket. Obviously if I buy a return ticket and don’t use the return portion of it I’ll be considerably out of pocket? Despite this however as I’ve never been to Colombia I have no experience of dealing with the authorities there so would not want t ...
