You can buy the computer online through DELL.com and get it shipped to Colombia. USPS sucks, last year I sent Christmas gifts and they arrived in February!!! They say 4 weeks? Not true!! It took them 3 months (12 weeks). What I did was contacting the Colombians in my city, they new a lady who has a delivery service, big cities like New York or Miami have several!! She charged me $3 dollars per pound (I know in NYC is $1.99 x pound) and the package arrived 1 week after I sent it!!! I'll definitely use it again!!! I know there is a different charge for LCD TVs but there's still the possibility. To find out more look at the Colombian embassy/consulate webpage in your city or go to the closest Colombian restaurant/store.

I live in the US and my family is in Colombia, so I know what you're going through. First, I think you're being ripped off with your internet fee, my mom has ADSL (broadband) in a smaller city than Bogota and pays $55,000= pesos (about $28 dols) per month. I'd recommend you to look at the different providers for example in Bogota ETB http://etb.com.co/segmentos/internet/ has internet for the same price my mom is paying. (there's also TV cable which offers fast internet with affordable price http://www.intercable.net.co/ ) button line, put your girlfriend to explore different alternatives!!!! (I assume she speaks Spanish) Now for telephone, what I did was buying a voice over IP line (www.broadvoice.com) and my relatives now have a US phone line at home in Colombia, it is pretty cheap ( $ 19 dols x month) and we can talk with excellent quality for hours!!! When I really need to get a hold of them and they're not home I use a calling card, I know in California must be easier to find them, don't use the MEXICAN ones, look for the COLOMBIAN ones, since here in my town it is harder to find, I just buy them off the internet ( I use orbitel COLOMBIA https://www.orbitel.com.co/irj/portal/anonymous?NavigationTarget=navurl://4828b65d94d764a948a60005575708f5&InitialNodeFirstLevel=true) For text messaging, I know there are some unlimited text plans in Colombia, http://www.movistar.com.co and they have agreement with American phone companies like T-mobile, AT&T and Verizon, but I don't really use this option. Hey dwm! I actually have family in Barranquilla and went there every single year for 20 years from Bogota (by bus) and NEVER EVER needed that vaccine. (It includes all main coastal cities: Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Cartagena, Monteria and Riohacha) The only time I was asked for my vaccination records was once when I went to the Tayrona National Park (parque tairona) in Santa Marta (2 hrs away from Barranquilla), you can't get in there without it because that's a virgin jungle area. BTW, the travel to the park is TOTALLY WORTHY!!! So, if you're just going to main cities, don't worry, if you're planning on going to Tayrona, then get the vaccine. Have fun!!!

I used to live in Pereira, which is a small city in Colombia!! So I don’t agree with the post about the “bigger cities”
Although I used to think that looking your soul mate by internet was kind of weird, I posted my “profile” at one of those internet pages and surprise!! I found myself a lovely “gringo” even though I used to say I didn’t like gringos at all!!
Button line… my gringo went to Colombia and invited me for vacations to USA, I went few months after, since I already had an American visa and although I had a great life in Colombia and a grant to study in Europe I decided to married him and stay at the US.
We never tell the truth about how we met because, like I said, it is weird to say “we met by the internet” but I can certainly say that it is POSSIBLE to find your “good Colombiana”.

According to the article 96 of the Colombian Constitution, there are Colombian citizens
1. by birth
a. The born in Colombia with one of two conditions: that the father of the mother have been born or Colombian citizens o that being foreign children one of their parents have been living in the Colombian Republic at the birth date
b. The children of Colombian father or mother that have been born abroad and then move to live in Colombia.
Therefore Soraya, was COLOMBIAN not just because Colombian Laws approves it but also because she used not only to call herself Colombian but also to feel proud about it!
