Safety in Colombia

My parents have refused to send me to Colombia because of the media's representation of Colombia.My friend Silvana whom I will visit when Im there lives in Bogota with her family, and tells me that her and her family will look after me.

As for right now, there is no hope of me going, because they have made up their mind.

If any of you would like to help me visit Colombia, and my best friend please e-mail your experiences and knowledge of the current safety in Bogota ...

Help me visit Colombia

I live in Los Angeles, California and I want to visit my best friend Silvana who lives in Colombia. She has two houses. One in Bogota and one in Cartagena. My parents wont let me go visit her because of the media's representation of the horrible violence that goes on in Colombia.
