moondance comments on How many of you that are not from Colombia

haven't been for 1 yr......but from 1st trip (based on 4 week conversation with incredible lady from Barranquilla), was hooked.....visited 3 times in 4 months.........looking to return on a more permanent basis.......incredible country, incredible people....a "je ne se quoi".......highly recommended

moondance comments on anybody want to be my friend?

duh...exactly the response I should receive......goes to show, this is a sob story, coming from anybody from anybody, anywhere.......seeing what kind of response one would get.......meanwhile, b'quilla is still mi ciudad, be there Oct. 5th....anyone willing to go for a ride?

moondance comments on moondance

these are my blood.........my seedlings...dios, es mi vida

moondance comments on Man, I’m bored chitless

elmo will be living in Soledad..........taxi ride to the city (and fuck hold on to what u can grab)...a mere $4.00.......but I would love to supplement my meagre stash by doing some possible consulting work.....is that possible

moondance comments on Man, I’m bored chitless

barranquilla .....home bound well, be in my baby's arms in less than 2 weeks. Just spent more than 2 months in Canada, but the government telling me that I can't smoke cigarettes anywhere and that's after taking 35% of what I've made............besides, too fucken' cold......
Got a few bucks...........how long will $7000 last in Barranquilla?....accomodations taken care of.........maybe some business school will want to hire my services.........or should I focus on drinking as much aguilla and ron caldas till the money runs out..................not a bad way to go

moondance comments on It takes 97 minutes of work to be able to buy a Big Mac in Bogota.

mcraig last time you were where? please offer specifics?

moondance comments on It takes 97 minutes of work to be able to buy a Big Mac in Bogota.

disparity of course spent plenty time in Cuba....trick is to go to local festivals where they take the local currency (not the convertible peso, which is pegged at 20% more than the american dollar).....when the salaries are just $12-$20/month, cubans must find places where they can afford to enjoy themselves.....as a tourist, gives us a great advantage
Imagine a plate of fried chicken and rice...my cost 18 cents....local juice in a bag....5 cents.........last time, bought 3 green peppers, 6 tomatoes, bunch of carrots and bag of onions for under a dollar....just knowing where to shop

moondance comments on Cheap Flights

and btw strobers one of my best friends did that in the mid '80s.....spent 18 months travelling the world as a deckhand...saw australia, malaysia, indonisia, the states, and so on...but we are more established now and have assets and responsabilities....I am 42 with kids and a business...I can only speak of it...I find my solace in my wife to be from colombia....it keeps me young

moondance comments on Cheap Flights

brody mi amigo I have 3 of my own, one paying mucho dineros to put thru" university...I am a good guy abnd my woman is a good 'madre'....she doesn't care about the money from the biological father..., he is just an sshole who is "putting the stops into a happy life"...we have good schools here where my children attend and already figured for 4 months her daughter would spend time learning nothing more than english...the comes the math, science and computers....but if he was any kind of father, he would let her go....yes , brody, there is prejudice on my part, but if the father hasn't done anything with the child since birth....then why stop opportunitu for a better life....my wife to be (her mother) is in tathers....I cannot ask to chose between me and her daughter

moondance comments on Cheap Flights

cheapest way get a job on a merchant ship, as a deckhand, that goes thru' the panama canal and get off there...might take 6 weeks to get there, but it is totally cheap

moondance comments on por favor......please help

thanks Brody tu es exacto de que tu escribir....that is exactly what I told her to do...she will come here to the bahamas in 3 to 4 weeks (sin su hija), stay for 2 months, then go back for a bit....
We were hoping to put her in private school here in january where my other children go, but if we have to wait till September....so be it
I told her to go for the jugular for support payments....it is a process, perhaps not timely, however, as my Mom used to say "good things happen to those thar wait"

moondance comments on PBH Meetup in Miami????

bit more we can do the restaurant thing and end up at "MANGO'S" on south beach...any takers?

moondance comments on PBH Meetup in Miami????

meeting in miami.....let's get something going I do not live in Miami but travel there every 5 weeks, would love nothing better than to meet with like-minds and those that appreciate the colombian culture.......come on, need someone to set a date, pick a restaurant and let's do it...it is only a 25 minute flight for me.....looking to exchange ideas.......miami mike, what say you?

moondance comments on Random Code-Switching (Spanglish)

hey famsearch just offering my opinion...u think too strong.....dime que tu piensar...oh, sorry , spanglish again

moondance comments on Random Code-Switching (Spanglish)

William Andrew......fuck you yes we have all been accused of this "spanglish" but for most of us it is a work in process
Let people explain themselves how they feel most comfortable.....get that chorizo out of your ass and spend some time on this website and maybe you will learn something......nobody trying to impress , "solomante todo gentes quieres communicar por conversacion" and ye smy spanish sucks...you happy now asshole......
but how is the world to communicate with assholes like you being the grammar and linguistic police......go find some private school somewhere that will accept you as "king for a day"

moondance comments on Attention Kat

moondance comments on scumbag of the year

elmo...you up the so and so u asked WHY?????????????????????? in other sites....you know WHY????????????love your postings..............but your ass is black...but like you (and unlike others here)........plain and simple, you are not the type that "they want to bring home to mama".......prejudice exists everywhere, including latin countries.......my last g/f from Cuba was a mulata but did not want to be out in the sun....because "Idon't want people to thionk I am black"//....I said fuck you...what is the problem?...point being, prejudice exists everywhere......My best friend in cuba told me few months ago...to types of people do not get invloved with in business ...blacks and homos...what the hell??? elmo I am sure you've encountered this crap

moondance comments on What to do with a depressed Colombian in smallsville, UK?

plain and simple boo..hoo..I do not have my friends here nor my family...things here are not what I thought they would be.....damn, tell him to get either get his ass back to Colombia or grow up
I feel really , really sorry for your man....however, remember one of his jobs in life is to make YOU happy......sorry , but if he has to be a miserable cunt, tell him to carry his ass.....(better to travel hopefully than it is ti arrive)

moondance comments on por favor......please help

update........... well, it went as expected. As I've mentioned before, local legal advice was that mainly because the nina has the same last name as the biological father (biological being the operative word as he has not contributed a dime to the child's upbringing), it will not be posible for the 'judicio' to grant permision for the child to leave with the mother. Furthermore, mi novia tried again to plead with this asshole, citing the fact that she is the mother and the possibilities that will be available for the child. In the end, he told her he was going to the police to say she tried to bribe him for him to sign for permission (although he had mentioned the figure of $10,000 last month).....What is one to do? I love my woman and I know she will not be complete living with me without her daughter and I do not want to tear her away from her child. I personally have 3 children of my own and I see them most days although they live with their mother 70% of the time.
In the end, I told her to proceed through legal channels although it may prove to be futile.......why does love have to be so difficult?

moondance comments on Need Advise. Big Problem Brewing

solution if she is the knockout u say she is....., she not need teturn to Colombia, have her take the next plane to Miami, where she can get a visa to the Bahamas in 1 day, and "boom", 30 minutes later she'd be here. No problem getting her a permanent status here.....the world is full of possiblities

moondance comments on Medellin Car Show Pictures

elmo funny hat and chica aguila two pc. so we'll be able to find u

moondance comments on PBH Meetup in Miami????

miami meet? you offering to organize one or it one already slated?

moondance comments on Need Advise. Big Problem Brewing

she's a knockout you say if she already has a U.S. visa and she knows marriage won't work....then send her over here.....have few friends that are definite marriage material.............something to consider

moondance comments on or i should've asked, what is this strata 1,2,3 levels?

Poco. has shed some clarity Mi novia lives on the outskirts of Barranquilla. Her townhouse is modest but has 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, etc..., beautifully decorated, with fully tiled front porch and a tasteful front gate, leading to a patially bricked sentinel that is tree lined. A block away is a neighbourhood market area where you can get many of the things you need.......half a block away in the other direction is a 'futbal' field that is properly maintained and supervised.
Based on this thread, I asked her tonight what is the "ESTRADO" for her house........IT IS A 1...UNA I have spent two trips staying at her house and never did I feel uncomfortable or insecure
Therefore, please find another definition than poor, lower class....just goes to show "it is better to be quiet and be considered a fool than to speak and remove all doubt"

moondance comments on por favor......please help

sorry guys sorry but a woman is not just a woman...you do not fall in love...you decide to love. b.t.w. the daugther is a sweet girl and I have accepted her to fall in love with this woman (I am not an idiot, been around the block)...but must deal with this hombre...will do nothing illegal just try to reason....he thinks if she leaves, then his mother should have the child (grandma raising 2 others from his so-called relationships, with not a dime from him).....this 6 yr old from my woman is well raised and mother has done everything for her....so fuck him to try to stop a good education elsewhere....she would go to same private school as my 2 other children and university eventually...and no...I am not being used by this woman....stop being so cinical, sometimes things are as they appear

moondance comments on Peter....el jefe...our lord and master

figures...ask a simple question do not know if you are present or out of town......simple response will do Peter....donde tu eres

moondance comments on

as an add on.......................... in the mid seventies....school boards across the u.s.a. made a conscious decision to to away with world geography and history...this is the truth...concentrate on what is happening in the u.s.a. on very little of other places in the world, except where conficts occur at the the moment....what does this create...plain an simple ....an inward looking populace with less regard to what is happening outside of one's borders....the sympathy lies when you can apreciate other cultures....that comes with education
(it is bettewr to travel hopefully than it is to arrive}

moondance comments on por favor......please help

update........ wife-to-be spoke at lenght with lawyer yesterday.....this is what she told me (verbadim)
"el abogado decirme que juez no puede darme permiso para salir Marce ('su hija'), sin el consentimiento de su papa....decirme solo puede darte custodio pero no permiso por salir...me dice eso no es posible, porque ('su hija') tienes apellidos del papa......
well, only option now is to convince the s.o.b. to sign the papers.....any comments?

moondance comments on por favor......please help

good advice seriously though, I will never do anything illegal....yesterday's talk was just pent up frustrations. Mi novia will follow the family court route and it should not be a problem , especially since the father has never had anything to do with the child
(it is better to travel hopefully than it is to arrive)

moondance comments on por favor......please help

yup we can work with that small minds....just got off the phone with my woman(tust me she is educated and knows what is going on)....the boy (her mistake) wnats to build a business...has a horse and carriage and wand wants 4 more of each...guess what...I am carrying my ass in 4 weeks to barranquilla...sure I will buy him more.....but I will fuck him big time...trust me....will cost me $1200 for 2 horses and 2 carriages but by the the second day of hi meanderings (this is after papeles are all signed) mi amigos...la policia, will find 2 kgr,s under the seat.....IO've been on th ephone all night....it is a done deal feeling so good....why am doing this with all the risks.....I Do Not Give a shit......revenge is sweet
(it is better to travel hopefully than it is to arrive)

moondance comments on por favor......please help

well said...miguel the man has no interesrest in his daughter's....the mother (who I love like there is no tomorrow), is soft and does not know what to do.....$10,000...I cannot afford it....but I can afford a trip back to b/quilla and maybe negogiate with him (trip tentatively set for august 29th).....but what gets me...if they are so happy over there, why would you wager your daughter and her hapiness....she needs to be with her mom.....maybe I am naive

moondance comments on por favor......please help

strobers bad post can/t get rid of it...point being is this man is a bum...I have met him to release hisi daughter (she is six and he has seen her no more thatn 3 times in her life).......he is working the foreign money...fuck you...I will do 3 grand for him to sign papers (he drives a fucken' horse for christ sake).....other than that what can I do

moondance comments on Immigration procedures at the Bogotá airport

yes you want your stuff with you a suggestion..when I moved to the Bahamas from Canada 18 years ago, I did it in 4 trips over 3 years
Saved paying the shipper and showing up at the border with a shitload of stuff
In the end I ended up with my 600 books, electronic equipment and the few pieces of furniture that were handed down (family heirlooms)
point is...if you are staying for an extended period of time, this might be a reasonable option

moondance comments on Villa Dilla in Barranquilla... BradyVicky?

and at today currency exchange rate that is $28.85.........is that too much??
yes we can get the breaks in colombia, but is the last time you paid this little in the States?

moondance comments on Immigration procedures at the Bogotá airport

no worries....chump change for them.
yes they will check your bags...but customs are not concerned about a few C.D.s

moondance comments on Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica & Panama top 5 happiest countries on earth

one needs to know...desderia you talk about expectations of the foreigner, attitude once there, money one has ......I apologize if I did not make myself clear (english is my second language)
none of what I wrote was with any amount of disrespect.....respect and knowing something about where u visit is paramount
I am not here to apologize, but before you get on your "high horse" , I too have spent time in foreign lands...and what did I do while there?
I adopted 2 families in cuba, for example, whereby I am assiting one's daughter thru' school and another family whereby they now have a t.v., livingroom furniture, and $200 per month for food and necesities..and I paid to have their roof replaced........
do not talk to me about different motives...yes money comes in handy, especially if you can help people with it
p.s. Desideria...I am not close to being rich.....just a working stiff....yes my words from before might have shown bit of bravado (guy talk)......but disrespect of others........never...please get more info in the future before you jump the gun

moondance comments on Difficult for an American to find a job in B/quilla?

peter the other peter Peter...seems our lord and master cancelled the post on our filipino
anyhow....reach me if you can...I am here with questions....rgrgauthier at

moondance comments on Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica & Panama top 5 happiest countries on earth

desideria did not mean to offend....I was talking about realities
1)yes us expats find it easier in other countries
2)yes we have the wear-with-all to be able to afford it
3)but many of us have been stung before with an american/canadian/uk wife...might not be important to you but imagine 17 years with a wonderful woman and getting sex 4 times a year, working 75 hours a week, coming home to a filthy house with burger king on the table
4)yes...all men have egos....we feel good being in the presence of a younger beautiful women
5)the culture of latin countries allows us the opportunity whereby it is common that a man be involved with a woman 10-15 years his junior
6)in my case, not looking for a woman that is a housemaid...,as a french canadian....the "gia" mother earth, the woman and that commands respect and demands never ever to let her down...just an equal footing
7)we have not found love in the so-called industrialized world....so recent experience dictates we go where love is not only accessibly...but probably true...that is what I am counting on....no menos no mas

moondance comments on What to do with a depressed Colombian in smallsville, UK?

elmo u old so and so......
u make Quilla your home.....mi novia es de Soledad and we have had a few nights where she had to direct me home (her family's house...but they still love me)
I too stay away from tourist and hob-nob places....tell me, as I am a novice (been there only twice).....where to hang
In the eternal words of Neil Young.."See the losers in the best bars....the winners in the dives"

moondance comments on Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica & Panama top 5 happiest countries on earth

Desi.......point well taken we "don't see signs of miscontent".......I believe we do as we all live in the real world
There's one important economic reality......coming from lands of oportunity, we can afford to travel and come and go as we please...simple point being: We have money and therefore can afford to idolize Colombia.

moondance comments on Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica & Panama top 5 happiest countries on earth

barranquilla.....heaven/hapiness exists I too am involved with a woman from barranquilla, and the few times I,ve been there, have observed a woman who also works 6 days a week so that her family can be properly clothed and fed......and she does it with a smile on her face....
Her family is her reason for getting up every morning and taking that 45 minute bus ride to work....she is an amazing individual.
In June, the embassy in Bogota denied her a visa to the States (although she was to be in Miami just for 1 day to transit to the Bahamas)...what is one to do?
Instead, we will travel to Panama end of August, then to Habana and ultimately to the Bahamas. We could get married in Barranquilla and then reapply for a visa....but it just means more waiting. We decided to get married here in the Bahamas where I have have found a lovely place by the beach.....I cannot wait

moondance comments on BABY NAMES

mas being french canadian , all boys have joseph in their name as well as the grandfather's and the godfather...and all girls have Marie......so por exemplo:
yo (me) roger rene joseph georges..and surname......

moondance comments on BABY NAMES

baby names boys names are harder in spanish...not so easily translated...leaves them with a label
but girls...wonderful.....if I had another nina would name her "Maria, Teresa, Michelle"...in incorporates my catholic and my mum's name...just throwing it out

moondance comments on Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica & Panama top 5 happiest countries on earth

david in Idaho you are a smart guy..can see that
have you ever been to cuba?...people basically repressed for 50 yrs. but miles of smiles......the dancing, the music, the love
economic hardships ..big time....but they go on and I would surmise that on average there is more happy people there than in 90% of the top 17 industrialized nations...Why?
A U.N. study of several years ago studied 70 odd countries to find out what was important to the individual......results based on:
1)wealth
2)career
3)free expression
4)family
5)traditions passed on....and so on
point being.......Cuba ranked in the top ten in terms of satisfaction and hapiness...wow what a chill....WHY?
top 3 responses...la familia, la familia, la familia
AND...don't remember but 4 other latin countries figured in this survey of top 10
brings us why we are on this Colombia website......most of us have be married before to an american, european, canadian.....and we are on our 2nd or 3rd marriage.......
conclusion from my point of view: the latin woman is what God intended....intended to find our little piece of hapiness

moondance comments on My webspace......

nice stuff boomer......nice jewellery pieces
what is your specific affiliation with barranquilla?
mi novia is from there and it might become my second home
also, I am a watchmaker/jeweller from the bahamas, therefore, you've peaked my interest
by no means am not looking at stepping on what you've got going there but a conversation out of professional interest might be in order.....
let me know.......R.(canadian) living in the bahamas

moondance comments on Wedding Pic

yup Wow, what a stud...I want to be like you when I grow up
