Mono perico comments on Cali impressions

Que Alegria Encontrarlos I am Mark from Sussex in England. I went to Colegio Bolivar in Cali from 1961 to 1966 and then went to school & university in England from 1966 till 1973 but during those years went back to Cali for the Christmas and summer holidays.

In 1961 La Violencia had only ended about 3 years earlier. I was very blond and fair skinned but in all the time that I spent in Cali I was never attacked or threatened at all. I lived in Versailles, Santa Rosa and then Santa Rita. I sometimes used taxis but more often used buses ( I was there when the the new bus company blanco y negro started). Somebody mentioned the dis-used train station near the city centre. I can't remember any other train station other than the one in Versailles. Is that not used any more ?

Unfortunately, I have to go out now but I will log-in as soon as possible again to tell more of my memories of Cali.

The first thing many new people would call me was Mono perico, hence my log-in name.
