Mononoke28 comments on health condition of the hostages a surprise dwmte7, They also told me about the pitcher and/or hoses each stall has to clean the crap out of the hole. PUKE! =X

Mononoke28 comments on Ingrid Betancourt - WHY? I say that if everybody is behind her and telling her she should be the next president of Colombia only because she was a politician who was kidnapped for years, then everyone else who was kidnapped should qualify as well. It makes no sense.

Mononoke28 comments on Looking 4 Car Rental / Medellin Don't forget that that is the fee with very few km. They add extra, a lot actually, per km you go over. We called 3 different places in MedellÃn and a few more in Cali and just a trip to El Peñol would have cost us over $250 USD. Not worth it.

Mononoke28 comments on "ll" pronunciation rule for Columbia I'm very particular when it comes to accents and I can honestly say that I hate it when people from Boyacá and old school Bogotanos pronounce things with "jl". I mean just listen to Don Jediondo, I could just scream.

Mononoke28 comments on what is there to do in Guatepe, Penol, Maranilla, llano grande? At Guatapé you can swim in the lake, go boating, kayaking, water ski, eat at one of the restaurants by the shore, go up the Piedra del Peñol, go horseback riding, go camping, the possibilities are endless.

Mononoke28 comments on health condition of the hostages a surprise You're right morphus. That's why they still have those squatting stalls in India and Morocco, because it's healthier. I'm not saying I'm all for that but my friends from Morocco and India say that it's better for you. =P

Mononoke28 comments on Work visa,s to canada are easier to obtain. That's what I thought because they made it sound like Canda was just handing out visas to anybody who wanted them. I kept thinking that there was some kind of catch or that they were misunderstood but they thought I was being a "pessimist". Like you said adrimm, they may think now that it's a bowl of roses but I'm sure they will be facing reality pretty soon. Thanks guys!

Mononoke28 comments on Ingrid Betancourt - WHY? I think she still has a long way to go to prove herself politically. The fact that she was held captive does not mean she is qualified to be president of Colombia, she may win the simpathy vote but that isn't worth much. I also don't agree in that she wants to focus more on the social problems of our country before dealing with violent groups like the FARC, ELN and the cartels. I believe that people suffer from the atrocities these groups cause and that many are the product of these crimes. If you attack poverty and social issues first, it will give these groups the time and resources to get stronger. It's a vicious cycle. I'm with Uribe on this one, get rid off these terrorists first and try to fix the social problems on the side. But you can't chew and talk at the same time, it's impossible to do both, and do them well.

Mononoke28 comments on Gifts? I always go to Wal-Mart and find what I need. Children love little things, girls absolutely love the Walt Disney fruity flavored chapsticks. Lotions are great for women as well. Toys like Spiderman, Superman, Batman or Barbies are great for children. They love gadgets and for some reason guys love baseball caps and clothes, which I think it's boring but whatever.

Mononoke28 comments on Work visa,s to canada are easier to obtain. I've heard from different friends of my husband's that they are planning to move to Canada because they will find better jobs up there and that the government will go out of its way to help them when it comes to housing, education and employment. I keep saying that it's hard to believe and that there is some kind of catch but they insist that's the way things work in Canada. Any truth to this or are they being misinformed about what the reality is? Thanks!

Mononoke28 comments on You hit the nail on the head Monita. A lot of Colombian women can't tell the difference between a "nice" gringo vs. a white trash, tasteless one. All they see is that he came from a foreigh country, speaks a different language, and that he might have a few dollars stacked away where he came from.
|
|
Mononoke28 comments on does anyone else find it offensive to be called GRINGO? Nope, at UNLV that word was used for any Asian person, Phillippino, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Then when I moved to L.A., they used it too and not in a very nice way.

|
Mononoke28 comments on Presidenta de Chile promoverá a Ingrid Betancourt para Nobel de Paz I'm not too sure about Yasser Arafat's prize but as for Al Gordo (good one btw), it was based on something to create awareness and do something for the planet. It was intentional. Ingrid was kidnapped and held for years against her will, she didn't say "I'm going to go out there and get kidnapped for uhmm... 6-7 years max and show the world what I'm made of." Any Nobel Prize should be based on your work not on your accidental experiences.
|
|
Mononoke28 comments on does anyone else find it offensive to be called GRINGO? The word gringo is not offensive unless your self esteem is so down the drain it's pathetic. We use gringo like we use paisa, rolo, costeño, samario, caleño even boricua. Those words are not used to discriminate against others based on where they're from. Spic, wetback, riceburner and many others are. There's a huge difference.

Mononoke28 comments on The other hostages.... I saw that HBO documentary on Ingrid like four years ago and I'm glad they played on CNN because most Americans live in a shell and have no idea what happens outside their homes if it doesn't involve Britney Spears or Brangelina. It's a good thing we have the choice of changing channels if we don't like what we see, I do the same thing whenever that stupid "America's Next Top Model" is on. Talk about nauseating!

Mononoke28 comments on Betancourt seeks ways to serve her country· Former hostage prompts talk of presidential run I don't think Ingid should disappear at all but she needs to let Uribe finish what he started. I'm all for her being president after she can prove herself politically and let's him serve a third term.
|
|
Mononoke28 comments on Presidenta de Chile promoverá a Ingrid Betancourt para Nobel de Paz Exactly, Ingid Betancourt, as much as I like her now I don't think she deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for being held in the jungle against her will. NOW, if she goes on to campaign to get all the others still kidnapped out of the jungle alive, then I'm all for it.

Mononoke28 comments on health condition of the hostages a surprise From what the hostages said, they received medical attention from time to time. Not very high tech of course, but they needed these people in stable physical condition so they could walk from one camp to the next. It makes sense to me.

Mononoke28 comments on Hoja de Vida You can ask anybody on the street and they can help you. I remember being at a café internet and one girl was working on hers and the owner came over and did it for her. What I found interesting is that they were deciding on what picture to put on it. I was like WTH? My husband then explained to me that that's the way they do it in Colombia.

|
Mononoke28 comments on Ingrid's Husband From what I've read they were not getting along and were considering a divorce before she was kidnapped. I also thought she was more affectionate with her mom than her husband but they have a history there. If you're close to getting a divorce and then spend 6 years apart, the marriage is long dead and buried. She at least acknowledged him and was civil towards him.

Mononoke28 comments on dual citizenships with colombia and usa Absolutely. Call your closest Colombian consulate and they will tell you exactly what to bring and how much it will cost. In fact, it's better to do it here since it will be faster for sure.

Mononoke28 comments on Ingrid to leave Colombia within the next few minutes Eh MarÃa, no se queda ni unos minuticos home. But seriously, she probably wants to see more of her family there who couldn't make it to Colombia and thank the French people in person. Now, if she stays there and doesn't come back para tomarse un tintico tan si quiere. Que se abra.

Mononoke28 comments on Need information on Passports Any person who is still a Colombian citizen HAS to use their passport to enter Colombia. It's the law. Yeah, some people have not done so but that means they are breaking the law. Es decir, con cédula de ciudadanÃa colombiana (cuando lo requiera) y pasaporte colombiano. marbelmorales, Even if your mom will not use her Colombian passport to go this time she needs to get it for future travel. It just bugs me that Colombians lose all respect for their nationality only because they have the right to get a new passport from a different country. It's just not right.

Mononoke28 comments on 1. Very, very, very family oriented. Family for most people is their number one priority. 2. Soccer. 3. Partying. We can set a party in no time and make it last for hours with very little budget. 4. Hablar mierda y de la buena. 5. Burleteros. (Make fun of people). 6. Praying. We pray all the time even if don't want to. It just comes out.

Mononoke28 comments on Moving to a Spanish-Speaking Country - Need Advice Have you ever visited any country in Latin America or Spain for that matter? I would highly recommend against moving to a place you don't know. You should go visit first, see if you like it or at least get a good vibe from it and then decide to move. It doesn't make sense to me making a decision to move to a place you don't know and don't even speak the language. If you want to visit Colombia I would suggest starting with either MedellÃn or Bogotá. Those are pretty established cities where you won't feel too much out of place, especially in Bogotá.

Mononoke28 comments on I can't believe she has the balls to roam around the world with her Colombian passport. Now that's another Colombian giving us all a bad name.

Mononoke28 comments on 1. I can come up with a huge list of Colombians who have given and still give the word Latino a bad name all over the globe. Some of which I've met personally, unfortunately. 2. Yes, Colombians do qualify as been Latinos. Anyone born or raised in Latin America is considered Latino. Signed, A proud Latina, 100% Colombian.

Mononoke28 comments on STOP! STOP! I cannot take it anymore! HappyMike, or should I say miserable Mike. It's pretty obvious you haven't taken a road trip across the US where all you can get on the radio is either bad country or Christian radio stations. That's enough to make you kill yourself. And yes Radio Uno ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
