where to go for a week

Hello. I'm looking for recommendations on where my girlfriend and I should go for a week in March.

It is our spring break, but we're not looking to get on any girls gone wild videos. We are looking for pretty beaches/ocean. It'd also be nice to be near some more populated places so we can disco on the weekend. We both speak enough Spanish to get around comfortably. I wouldn't mind traveling a little piece of the coast and hitting a few towns or staying in the same place.

The country is just so damn big that I need some good places to do a little research on. ANY ideas are appreciated. Thank you.

If your young have money and really want to party..here is a list by best location.
1. Cancun......(hands down one of the most beautiful beaches/places in the world, pyramid sight seeing and unbelievable nightlife.
2.Puerto Vallarta......beaches, nightlife and a hop and a skip away from the city of Gaudalajara.
3.Cabo San Lucas.......beaches, nightlife and thats it.
4. Acapulco...beaches, nightlife and city all in a bubble...not as nice but nice enough.

I assure you....you cant go wrong with the list I provided.

Cheers and have fun!!!!!

Ay Hombre....no jodas!

These places are okay. You might want to see the real Mexico -- Copper Canyon, San Miguel, Mexico City, Puebla, Cuernavaca, etc. Guadalajara is nice. Buses in Mexico can be very comfortable, but it is five or six hours from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara, a pretty big hop and skip.

The beaches are very nice (and also in Mazatlan), but for me a few days is enough. Cancun has great discos and American restaurants at high prices. I first went to Mexico when I was a penniless student, and could not afford the hotels in Cancun. I stayed in a room on the Playa del Carmen beach rented for $10 a day. And back then, it was just an unspoiled beach and one street of stores -- no hotels. Now Playacar is just like Cancun and the Mexican Riviera -- which is a bit of a shame.

We're looking strongly at puerto escondido. We already have a flight into mexico city. So I must factor that with only having a week to travel/relax. None the less, I'm going to check out all of the places that have been recommended. Thanks for the help!

Puerto Escondido is nice. Mexico City is easy to get around (use the subway, fear the taxis) -- see the Anthropology museum and take the bus to the Aztec Piramides.

You could go north and see Leon, Guanajuato -- maybe four or five hours by bus from Mexico City - comfortable if you stick to ETN and Primera Plus. Puebla and Cuernavaca would make a nice trip. Even Mexico and Puerto Escondido would be interesting.

Most of those places are tourist places and lots of teenagers running around during spring brake.

If you do not mind that Cancun is nice, great beaches and lots of things to do. I do not like because it starting to look like US Beach town, KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut. Still nice. Xcaret, Cozumel, ruins.

Mazatlan is nice. Same as Cacun but Cancun had more things to do.

Acapulco some of the beaches are really dirty. The town is ugly. Two blocks from the main strip you have run down houses and bad areas. Very dirty.
