meteoro comments on Bogota meeting places what kind of ambiance are you looking for? are you staying here in bogota (if so, where?), or just meeting with her for a few hours and then flying off?

meteoro comments on Carlos Vives vs Green Day This is totally an apples-to-oranges comparison. Carlos Vives is great and so is Green Day. But you can't put them side by side, they inhabit two different worlds. Now, if I had to make a choice I would go to the Green Day concert.

meteoro comments on Partidos de Eliminatoria September 3 & 4 cdyow Dude, you're right... you're way too sensitive. All I wrote was 2 simple sentences. (where do you get 'attitude'?? 'come out swinging'??? where???)

meteoro comments on Partidos de Eliminatoria September 3 & 4 No one said the game was taking place in Atlanta. This game will take place, as you said ... in "Montevideo on 04 September..."

meteoro comments on Caller ID in Colombia There is no *67 here in Colombia to block caller ID. I am not sure if calling cards block caller id when you call from a landline. Probably.
meteoro comments on Caller ID in Colombia A few years ago the government made the cell companies adjust the system so that when a prepaid call is placed, the receiving handset would ID the caller's real number (a opposed to showing some generic number such as 215-0000). Apparently, there was a lot of crime (extorsions) taking place from penitentiaries via prepaid cell phones.

I recently used a service that was recommended by a friend... it's called apartadoaereo.com. I believe it's a lot cheaper han Jetbox.

meteoro comments on Help .... Bogota hotel US$40 you can get that same rate at a hotel in a much nicer area than close to the US embassy. can think of no legitimate reason to stay there... taxi rides here are dirt cheap, so why not stay in a nice area?

meteoro comments on Anyone interested in a meetup tonight at Lotus Club (Bogota)? carolain i had never heard of lotus (yes, i know, I don't get out much) and was unaware that it was supposedly a gay place. Anyway, Litost is right, tonight was definitely not a men-only night. If it was i would not even consider going. Tonight --friday-- was a Beats of Life night, pure electronica with DJ fruto and DJ mario.
meteoro comments on Meet-up tonight , Sopa de Letras, Pedro, I'm not sure that Lotus would be a suitable place for an official PBH meetup tonight since it will be a very electronic party. I was merely interested in finding a small group of people that would be interested in attending with me. If someone or everyone wants to join me, then welcome, but Lotus is probably not the best place to hold conversations.

meteoro comments on Would it be possible for the good people of the country of Colombia to stop calling themselves “Colombians” mmm Columbia, SC that sounds to me like a place full of toothless, gun-loving, Jesus-worshipping rednecks, so we don't really care. Hey gib, is that where you're from??

meteoro comments on Mens Magazine offends Colombia!! In addition, comments like the one in Stuff magazine are commonplace in US publications. You, ColX, just happened to stumble into one yesterday.
meteoro comments on advice on telephone number lpdiver... wrong when you call cell phones you don't dial the city code. In other words, lose the 1 after the country code in your example above.
meteoro comments on Mens Magazine offends Colombia!! ColombianoX come on man, enough with the whining about our 'image' in the US. Granted, the comment about our 'most addictive export' is kind of cliche and we are an easy target. But that's what we get for being one of the the world's top supplier of drugs. If I were you, I wouldnt pay attention to these things... just let it go.

meteoro comments on Is anyone in Bogota interested in a VoIP phone adapter? Thank you viewpoint. Your comments are appreciated. You are correct.... my offer is VERY VERY fair.
meteoro comments on Is anyone in Bogota interested in a VoIP phone adapter? To gringoinbogota in order to transfer an account to the phone company a credit card must be on file. Anyone familiar with Vonage knows that they do automatic billing each month. I don't need to know the buyer's credit card number or US billing address, he/she can provide that directly to Vonage. I guess my message to gringoinbogota was not clear enough but I am no scammer.
meteoro comments on Is anyone in Bogota interested in a VoIP phone adapter? This is ready to use. I can deliver (and install) to anywhere in Bogota this weekend. You will have a dialtone within 5 minutes. Credit card with US billing address is required for account transfer.

meteoro comments on Is anyone in Bogota interested in a VoIP phone adapter? Aclaraciones I use the least expensive Cablenet service ("150 Kbps) and the sound quality is perfect, as good as a local call. It only gets a little 'fuzzy' when the computer is being used simoultaneously. This would likely be resolved by getting a 'broader' broadband.
meteoro comments on Is anyone in Bogota interested in a VoIP phone adapter? About billing... the monthly fee includes 500 outgoing minutes to any US or Canada number. Incoming calls are unlimited. You hook up the adapter (a small black Motorola box about the size of an answering machine) to the broadband modem that you get from the cable company. You hook up a regular phone to the adapter. Your computer is also hooked up to the phone adapter. The computer does NOT have to be turned on for the phone to work.

meteoro comments on Is buenaventura, Colombia a good place to live or visit? Tinto Ferrovias (a government-owned co.) is being liquidated because the government granted a concession to 2 private companies to rehabilitate and make use of the railways.

meteoro comments on Why do gringos keep referring to their country as America? Gomezman I know you took the quote from another post. I didn't mean it so seriously.
meteoro comments on Why do gringos keep referring to their country as America? I think this is an issue that we will never agree on. Thanks to everyone for their participation in this thread. The reality is that the country is called US of America and there is no other way in English for the gringos to describe a person from the USA (as there is in Spanish, estadinense). So they have to use the word. There's no way around it.

meteoro comments on Why do gringos keep referring to their country as America? to the gib "If you want to change the name of a great people you are going to have to do better than whinning and crying."

meteoro comments on Why do gringos keep referring to their country as America? aren't there more critical issues to discuss? "aren't there more critical issues to discuss?"

meteoro comments on Why do gringos keep referring to their country as America? I don't understand why the gringos make such a big deal about the being called gringo.

meteoro comments on Advice on how to get from Bogota to Villa De Leiva and surrounding towns Goosekirk I can't seem to upload any pictures. I have some nice shots of Cucunubá and Villa de Leyva, taken earlier this year. Do you have any advice?

meteoro comments on Viewpoint I understand what you're saying about the Chinese, and I agree that Colombian competitiveness will be hurt on the international level. However, locally the Colombian market will probably still be dominated by Colombian textiles, don't you think?

meteoro comments on No award for Catalina Sandino today DeDerechosHumanos My post goes to the larger issue, not just Sandino.
meteoro comments on No award for Catalina Sandino today Tinto Beauty pageants in Colombia are much more important to people than they are in the U.S. and presumably Europe. The national beauty pageant in Cartagena is a major event and everyone has favorite contestants and everyone knows who won. It's part of the water-cooler conversation next day at the office. That's probably the reason why ColX knows his queens from way back. All Colombians do.

meteoro comments on No award for Catalina Sandino today DeDerechosHumanos Now take a deep breath and read my post once again, slowly.
