I"m still bringing a list of places ya'll suggested "just in case" but I found a place. 20mil a night through a friend of a friend that's going. So I"m all set. I leave tomorrow and I'm ready for the beach and relaxation!! :)

megs622 comments on Looking for a bus site... all the busses listed above are good. And I've gone by bus plenty of times from Bogota to Valledupar. I can't remember all that I've taken. And you can't reserve online. you have to go there to the terminal and pay for a ticket before you go. good luck

megs622 comments on Dive operator/sites in Cartagena? well, I stopped by this place inside the old city and they were very nice. They seemed professional. There was one girl, I think European, that spoke English. I spoke to them alot and they were very nice. I didn't go diving with them because I ran out of time to do it on my trip. This was back in January. megs622 comments on cheapest spanish schools in bogota? my gosh, why would you even want to pay that amount in rent when you can live in a nice apartment for much less here? that's crazy but hey nacional university has a program, it's really cheap but I don't know if they help you with a student visa. I would assume they do

megs622 comments on Visa extension question finally cleared up....Bogota DAS well, yes at this location it's been the same since I can remember. They did change the background color, etc. but it's never been a problem for me and has always been super fast. I don't see why some of you are complaining. As long as you fill out the stuff correctly, they will never deny you more time. I'm sure they just want the money for the renewal and who cares. It's still cheaper to pay here for a visa then tons of other places around the world. Just enjoy your time here!! It's great!

megs622 comments on Before you snort, take a peak here man you guys are all up in arms over this issue and for good reason, it's a big issue. But for me, I still love this country and I don't see us gringos messing around with any illegal stuff. There are hard working gringos down here living and having an adventure. drugs aren't needed. I never see it and it is looked down upon. But if you go looking for it, it's there. Just like in any other part of the world. But maybe I run in a different circle of friends down here. To each their own is true. You hang around bad places, you get bad things around you. you hang with good people, there isn't bad things around you. and I've seen quite the opposite in gringos down here like myself. I've seen nothing more then nice people who want to see a good country. Work hard and enjoy working in another country. People stop me all the time to ask directions, something in the grocery store, a translation and they are never less than super nice. And it's funny when other foreigners talk to me because I look so gringa but I just fit in well. I've been here awhile. So I guess I'm just disagreeing with everything that some of you say. But hey, that's my opinion! and by the way, it's reciprical. All the Colombians have been just as nice as us foreigners!

But if you work down here, then it's one of the only times to travel and I want to travel. I'm sure I will find a fine place to stay. I'm not worried and I"m still going. Doesn't matter to me if you guys says it's the worst time to go. For me it's the best. I have no other time to travel!! But thanks everyone for the advice. I just needed advice from travelers who know some good hostels, etc. that's it

but really, I have this discussion all the time. Do all of you drink the water and what do you know. For 2 years I boiled the water. I figured by now I adjusted to all the influx of bateria and things like that but my stomach/colon is very sensitive down here and anything can set it off and then boom, I'm sick. Recently a cousin of my friend who is a doctor told me it's fine to drink. He mentioned the chlorine which I didn't know about, and said they put enough in it that once it goes through all the pipes, and different pipes of Bogota, that it's fine for me to drink out of the tap. But I'm still curios....... I've started to drink tap water and so far so good....let me know what ya'll think!

I work at a school during the week and it's around all the transportation. and right next to all the fun if you want to go out, yet if you want to just be at home too on the weekends, it's not loud enough where you can't sleep. jajaja My roommate and I are looking for another responsible person like us who can be a good roommate!

BUT, I thought it would be nice to see the countryside on the way to the beaches!!! And it is sad that it still is unsafe because this country is beautiful and travelling by bus would be a great way to see it!
