mctraveler comments on We foreigners are not God's Gift to locals in Third World Countries

also, i´m not thin at all, however i am not moridly obese...i have some weight...i do notice that when walking into a restaurant or store, i get some looks....my colombiana friend says that colombians notice you(generally speaking, not me), not to notice, but to criticize(sp?)..i noticed this too...i went to a restaurant yesterday and there were these two nice looking girls, i wasn´t ogling them or staring at them, i noticed them when i walked in and sat down a table away from them....i noticed they would look over at me on several occasions, then back to each other, they then started to make these circle gestures with their hands, now since i really wasn´t listening to what they were saying, i´m not sure if they were gesturing about me....but they would do it every time after they looked in my direction.....i really could care less, but i felt it very rude, obnoxious, and a contradiction to my thinking that colombians are one of the nicest i ever met...i don´t think the mothers of colombia(or at least the priveledged) have taught their children if you can´t say something nice, don´t say anything...but just my 2 cents or 1168 COP

well, i know i try not to be like that...when i go to another country i try to speak the language, and respect all...however, being here in colombia is a bit different...i find the people very accomadating, but when i am walking down the street, or in the mall, or down a sidewalk or aisle, i notice that when in a group(not excluding just 2) they do not move out of the way....ie. i was walking down the sidewalk and there were a group of 5 in a circle talking taking up all the sidewalk minus 12 inches or so....they could see that i was coming and i had moved over as far as i could not to interupt them, but they wouldn´t budge the fuckers....it was like i had to physically move them....i waited a couple of secs and said perdon real loud....but i have encountered this everywhere...it´s like you have to move outa their way rather than it being mutal...how rude

oh i read the ad wrong....$10K for the girls.....$30k for the guys.....hmmm, ill pass, i´d rather watch the game at a bar and get some real food, however, the paisa punch does sound appealing.

well, i kinda lied about being here alone...i have a friend, but she´s way to busy getting ready for her wedding, so i´m pretty much left to my own.

i´m staying in poblado and as i read this, i just killed a mosquito....i guess mosquitoes do live at this alt. and don´t have a preference for estrato status(or maybe they do)

mctraveler comments on Just FYI, Different rates given with 2 different cards at same ATM, same time!

mine too....no fee that´s why i opened up a capital one account...but i think theres something in the fine details that says you must keep either a daily balance of $1000 USD or monthly cant remember but im covered

mctraveler comments on peso is at 2238 eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I'm headed to colombia in december, i've also been watching the exchange rate, but today when I was at the airport in houston, I inquired about USD to COP and they told me that they are giving 1700 COP to 1 USD...I told the guy whatever, last time I saw it was at 2183 COP to 1 USD. So my real question is....where would I go to get that exchange rate, or something close to it? Obviously not the airport. Thanks

Thanks to suerte gringo and gringo spy for your speedy replies....much appreciated. unofortunately i have to be immersed in the country for a couple of days for everything to come back to me(the whole thinking in english takes some time to think in spanish), however, my vecinos are from medellin(i'm going for their wedding and an extended vacation), so they told me that they would be more than happy to call and translate for me.
