mcheasley comments on Those F!*%$#ing Motos I have seen 4 moto accidents personally in Medellin in the last 6 months... ALL were the moto drivers fault... Including last week when my neighbor hit a moto with 3 people at night running a stop sign and with NO Lights on the bike.. And the moto driver was yelling and screaming at my neighbor because his bike was all messed up..( the child and female passenger were NOT wearing helmets either)... Of course they all hobbled off before the cops arrived and left the bike.....
mcheasley comments on Those F!*%$#ing Motos I am assuming that there are NO traffic laws in Colombia (at least in Medellin).... If their were laws and Enforcement of the laws there would be many less accidents... I have a Bike and miss riding it, but would never bring it to Colombia... As far as Taxis and Buses being the problem I consider that a wild stretch... If the moto drivers didnt consider themselves Invincible and drove like responsible people there would be far fewer accidents involving Motos.... **** Just the way I see it everyday when I drive my car in Medellin trying to avoid the Daredevils....

mcheasley comments on Good steak in Medellin? The best steak in Medellin that I have found is Juicy, Tender, and melts in your mouth... Time Out in Parque LLeras for Sunday Football.... Couldnt believe it, but the baby beef and the Sterling steaks can be cut with a butter knife, not a chainsaw.... Cooked on the grill on the patio.....
mcheasley comments on Mail Forwarding I use TCC every 2 - 3 weeks to have mail and other documents including packages sent to Medellin... For letters and documents I pay from Miami TCC office to my house in Medellin $11.USD and I have the package in 2 days at my front door.... Never a problem and as fast or faster than FEDEX.... Tell them Mark in Medellin sent you.... They even give me a free mailbox.... Wow, what a concept..... lol..... Good Luck..............
mcheasley comments on Compete4yourseat I have used their site twice and never heard back from anyone at all..... It sounded like a good deal but so far I have had absolutely no luck with them at all............

From there around 30 minutes to the FLL station...Hop off TriRail and onto the Amtrak train.... I park my vehicle in Ft lLauderdale (friends house), and TriRail it to MIA every 2 - 3 months.... Its a great set up...............

mcheasley comments on What happened to the wheelchair project? OK, I am shipping a few pallets with personal goods on them at the end on Nov from MIA to MDE... If there are a FEW wheelchairs or walkers that are ready to load onto the pallets I will make sure they get to Angels of Medellin... I remember Marcos saying their is one girl missing a leg and she has to use an old crutch....I'm already bringing back more sportsing goods for the kids, so why not wheelchairs or walkers.... SO LISA, or whoever is in FLL or MIA let me know please.... Have a GREAT WEEKEND all................
mcheasley comments on What happened to the wheelchair project? KEN, perfectly stated.... NOW if anyone is heading to Medellin there is a friend of mine from NY that lives in Envigado that has donated his days every week for over 4 years to people that need assistance and helps out in a school outside of the city (an hour and a half by metro and BUS) where people APPRECIATE any kind of medical or sporting equipment he can provide.... He has very recently started the "Angels of Medellin' foundation that is Totally NON profit... He just likes to help.... I am sure that if wheelchairs or walkers are brought to Medellin, he will find a very needed home for them..... There are many people (and a few here on PBH) that can vouch for Marcos..... Balls, used baseball gloves, school supplies and clothes are always welcome also....

mcheasley comments on EAFIT, people who studied there or are studying there, please step inside 2 hours a day, 5 days a week... It was under $300 USD for the month..... And worth every penny...... I see you are from Sweden, We have a guy from Sweden in our class now...
mcheasley comments on EAFIT, people who studied there or are studying there, please step inside Hagh, I am attending UPB in Laureles (Unicentro)... I called them on a thursday morning and they said they had 2 other people that wanted classes, and the following Monday we were in class... Call UPB and talk to Gustavo in the Language dept... At EAFIT you start on the dates they list, and if there are not enought students you have to wait a month and hope there are enough students then... If not, wait another month... At UPB if there are 3 or more people wanting classes they are ready for you on the spot.. Dont get me wrong, I liked EAFIT alot, but I want to learn on a regular basis... anything else????
mcheasley comments on EAFIT, people who studied there or are studying there, please step inside They offer many different LEVELS of Spanish... I went to EAFIT for Level 1.. Be warned, If I were you I wouldnt pay for more than one course at a time as they only offer each level if they have enough students to make it worth their while... They are still holding money of mine for another course, while I am waiting for enough students to make the class happen... In the mean time I am attending another Univ that is much more flexible, cost less money, and caters to the students needs... Good Luck....

mcheasley comments on "Equipaje no acompañado" Shipping, anyone try it? Lisa, I just wanted to say that I like your new shorts.... sorry, couldn't resist...
mcheasley comments on "Equipaje no acompañado" Shipping, anyone try it? All the paperwork was done by the shipping company.. Make sure you tell them Household Items.. And if its used, make sure they write down USADO.... I always fly in the same day or the day after to avoid storage charges.. You take your paperwork to the Customs office at the airport and they ask for your I.D. and sometimes (plane ticket).. They usuallly open 3 - 5 boxes out of 20 -30.... DO NOT offer a bribe to overlook any items (at least in Medellin), as I saw one guy getting the 3rd degree after offering cash to look the other way.. I have NEVER yet, had to pay any taxes... I was told you have up to 10 - 14 days to pick up your items... I hope this helps...............
mcheasley comments on Apartment searching in medellin Get the Univ to sent you a letter with the dates you will be in school... Go see Monica at the Colomian Consolate in Miami and she will help you with the Student Visa.. This way you can come and go whenever you want from the States to Colombia... While I can not vouch for Zoltars place since I have never seen it, you want want to get in touch with him as far as a rental... Good Luck.....................................
mcheasley comments on "Equipaje no acompañado" Shipping, anyone try it? Mamey, I do it every 2 - 3 months from MIA to MDE... Read my previous post and comments referring to this subject and that should answer any questions you might have... Make it a GREAT day...............

mcheasley comments on English Muffins part 2 They used to be in my local Pomona in the Bakery section, but at 17,000 pesos they were always outdated.... I always ship back 12 or more packs when I go to the States.... Gotta love those Nooks and Crannies..... Every Sat morning Ham, Egg, and American Cheese on 2 English muffins.... Life is GOOD.... You should see what I fix on Sunday mornings ......

mcheasley comments on shipping from Miami? I did see a 50" TV in the box (NEW) coming off the last AA flight into MDE that I was on... The box looked to be in good shape until it fell off the baggage carousel in the airport... Nobody gave it a second thought.... Only in Colombia.....
mcheasley comments on shipping from Miami? David, The first thing I am asked BEFORE they inspect the boxes in MDE is, Any TV's?????? That is the only thing I have not shipped to Colombia... at $800.USD for a 42" LG in Medellin with a WARRANTY (3 years) its not worth the hassle and aggrevation to ship.... Remember David, Your 50" TV will have no warranty when it hits Colombia... Sorry I cant be of any more help on the TV subject as far as duties.... I just dont know!
mcheasley comments on shipping from Miami? David, my commercial product was taxable but that was 60 cents a pound thru TCC and not part of the 2000 lbs of household goods.... Shipping another 4 or 5 pallets the last week of Nov. of household goods.. This should be the last multiple pallet shipment of personal goods...... I like to ship the day before I fly home to Medellin so when I get to MDE I just hire a truck for my pallets and get to save 50K pesos on a taxi for myself.... Have NEVER had any damage or missing boxes... And that includes musical instruments.... I pay 100K pesos for the truck and they even put the boxes in whatever rooms I want them in... Hope this helps........
mcheasley comments on shipping from Miami? I use TCC in Miami and also go directly to Centurion AIR at MIA.... I have shipped close to 2000 lbs this year... TCC $1.00 a lb. and Centurian AIR is around $.65 a lb... Never have had a problem, and same or next day service...

mcheasley comments on Watching US TV In Colombia Sorry, but its Sunday morning...Go to the U.S. and buy a U.S. Television, then you take it to Colombia.. Plug it in and turn it on... You will be watching a U.S. television... Serious time... Head for a sports bar or you can watch almost any game on the Internet... I watched the Texas game last night via Internet (along with the Fla., and USC games) with perfect picture on the 42" Plasma with NO commercials... Sorry bout the go the the US part, but its the first thing that came to mind after being up all night when the Police Commandant (he lives across the street) decides to throw a party that starts at 11pm with over 100 people singing terribly out of key with booming music til 6am.... Enjoy the GAMES...........

mcheasley comments on How long is a foreign Driver Licence valid in Colombia? I tried a search but no luck... I seem to remember GATOR posting or talking about a site where you can Print out the official regulations to show the cops in Colombia, if you are using an Intl drivers lic so the cops understand the actual laws....
