maritime04 comments on Poverty in Colombia: Wikipedia Poverty is in-deed relative, poverty in china, africa, india is by far more "poor" and in greater numbers then most latin american countries. most reports are bias, and skewed to show what the person or group presenting then want to show. Why do we use charts and graphs, then our own eyes, and accounts from the ground? In my profession alot of mariners get stuck watching the radar when they can just look out the window which represents a realtime view, bottom line is poverty, the homeless and unemployment are huge problems for colombia. all you have to do is look around and see the homeless on the streets of centro medellin, in addition to the many many many people selling gum, cell-phone minutes, and everything eles on the streets for 5mil a day. colombia is a country of the "have-alots" and "have nots" and it will continue to be so, as big bussniess is allowed to follow "free-market" thought and continue to keep min. wages at rock bottom levels. Alot of opinion says the colombias economy is booming and growing, again based off what? GDP can grow, like it did in america from 2002 to today, but it can still hurt and make life more difficult increase unemployment, and creat high inflation which stems growth especially among middle class and poor. i persoanlly see GDP growing, colombia getting stronger economically as it gets more investment for aboard, i do not think unemployment will drastically drop, prices to go down or wages to go up again the benfits of this booming economy will not be passed down to average colombians, also if the currency trend continues exports will take a hit eventually(major part of the colombian economy), perhaps colombia can turn that tide through hyped up real estate prices.

maritime04 comments on Dude....I was there when it was offered at 1600 US per month not too long ago. i didnt say you were dishonest, i just said be honest, little more honest in the world doesnt hurt. second its a very good question to ask where you are the owner or subleasing, especially if somebody is forking over 60 bucks per night or 1200 a month to live their. especially if some owner comes out of blue or the building has a problem with you. there are alot of guys coming out of the holes in ground in medellin, pretend bussniess men and alike one needs to becarefull. good luck

maritime04 comments on Crisis inmobilaria en Colombia como Espana y E.U.?? Personally. real estate speculation in colombia and especially medellin is crazy through the roof!! many scammers and greedy agents/owners hiking prices up. apartments which stay empty for months on end, and asking prices increase???? tell me how, and why thats possible? all you need to do is look around, and now "gringo agents" are running around hiking prices on both ends! insane, asking prices are sure going up, but wages arnt, credit is more easy to get, but still not in the millions of buyers that made the "great big bubble" in the US, easy money gave way to sales and then sales hiked prices up, in colombia you just have price hike up due to greed and speculation.

maritime04 comments on Ok, yeah first are you the owner of said apartment? or did you sublease it, and now trying to live rent free? that apartment has been listed on two, rental sites, actually probly more, Hotel VIP, medellin travel guides ect..... its a nice place, kinda old. jaccuzzi didnt look into good of shape, and you added more furniture, its got a suna and a turco bath inside, only two bedrooms. the place is off las plams drive way up the hill, and isnt a short walk to park illares but it has an awsome view. i am not a bussniess crusher but please be honest. i think i saw it offered at arounbd 1600 a month from VIP hotel establishment, so 400-500 bucks is your output not a bad deal. if you want a "roommate" who is gone 6 months out of the year, ill split the rent with you 50/50 for a full year or more. throw me an e-mail, tino_goulas at yahoo.com
