A long, long time ago... someone decided to do to me the exact same thing as was done to Kat, and even went beyond that to an extent I don't even want to get into. Fortunately for me, Kat was kind enough to bring it to my attention and I was able to address it. If you are the creator of a virtual community, or someone acting as administrator, you have a duty to protect people from things like this. The minute it was brought to your attention that Kat had an impostor situation on your site, you should've removed the account. She has every right to go after you now to defend her identity, and I would hope that anyone would whether they're 8 to 80, blind crippled or crazy. This has nothing to do with how "attractive" one may or may not be. It has to do with you being dead wrong in allowing this to persist. End of fucking story. Now why don't you go to your site and do as you need to do so your site will remain active? Or if it's attention you seek, go take a shit in the middle of the freeway, as you do here figuratively every day. As a Ning member/site owner myself, I know the terms and conditions of membership, and Kat has every right at this point to take your sorry ass down. I've chosen not to participate in PBH but I clicked that little shortcut on my Firefox browser tonight to see what the topics were since Tirofijo bought the farm (don't have to sign in for that) - but ever since Colombiche, of all people, was shown how little she was appreciated and how few would back her up in a critical time, I chose solidarity with her and decided fuck it. I'm out too. So Doug, you and I have been PB-FUBAR-H members for quite some time, but in the end, one has to make a choice. Can a forum respect viewpoints on an individual basis and in doing so exercise tolerance for these viewpoints rather than exerting fascist censorship? Should moderators behave as Nazi's? And if they do will I participate? Hell no. Now you know why I haven't been around and also why I'm not likely to post again, and if I do - it will because I happened to hit that shortcut on my browser and something else raised the short hairs on my left one. Other than that - fuck PB-FUBAR-H, and its moderators that I'm aware of, you know... the old - way beyond expiration date - guard. I see Kat is now a moderator and I don't know how she is handling this responsibility - whether she has taken the line from Desi, et al. I only know that as a person; as a friend... she rocks. I'm glad you brought this up Doug, commendable that a voice of reason for however long - is still allowed to be visible to the subscribers and non-subscribers of this forum. Mario comments on DIGITAL CAMERA ADVISE Some people here know that my profession is in photography - actually, I work in the largest commercial studio in the southwest and have been a retouch artist and compositor since the late 80's (analog) and early to mid 90's (digital). These days, professional digital cameras have exceeded 45 megapixels and there are very good reasons for this (we'll hope these $35,000 investments last more than 3 years), but then you're not looking for a pro-level camera. The things that make a good camera are first, the sensor or CCD chip. Fuji has gained a lot of ground in this area and has the best low light capabilities in the consumer level market. Fuji also has become the leader in glass quality also, over Carl Zeiss glass. I'm talking about pro-level but it extends down to consumer equipment also. The Internet is fully capable of transferring large file sizes. If it weren't, I'd be hearing from ad agencies all over the country that the 311 megabyte, layered Photoshop file - (or the flat 50 MB, 45 MP LZW-compressed TIF file) that I just sent out over the Net on FTP looks like shite. ;-) I would recommend a camera that comes with rechargeable batteries. AA batteries won't last long and you'll soon find that you are buying batteries very frequently - or - you'll be using rechargeable AA batteries and recharging them more than you would your lithium battery that comes with a rechargeable battery formatted camera. As far as side by side comparisons go, take a look at DPReview. This is the leading digital photography equipment review site in my opinion and has in depth reviews and image comparisons of many popular cameras going back years, from present to the first digital cameras, and those cameras are interesting as you can see the pricing for a relative piece of shite back in the day versus the pricing of today's state of the art cameras. The biggest plus is the optional ability to capture images in RAW format. This format preserves more digital image information than any other shooting format. It is in RAW images that the image data is preserved even after the shots are exported from your software, and if you make changes to your photo and export your JPG, deciding later that you don't care for the image as it was exported, you can return to the original RAW file and have the original image data as it was shot, and export it again with whatever new image enhancements you want to make. I could go on and on about it but just Wiki RAW image format and see more on it. Other advantages to the G9 that I see: The LCD display on the back of the camera is 3" rather than 2.5" The body is threaded for lens options with an adapter, the other is not. It has an optical viewfinder - saves batteries. Shutter Priority - long exposure, blur a passing object - short exposure, freeze it sharp. Aperture Priority - artistic control over depth of field, i.e., face focused, foreground/background blurred. Supports external flash. Faster shutter max. 1 cm. macro capability - cool if you like shooting the facial expressions on house flies or close-ups of spider assholes as seen in the photo examples for the G9 on DPReview. Manual focus capable. Both are 12 MP cameras but the G9 is superior, if for one reason - the RAW mode capability. At the top of the page, below the pictures of the cameras, you'll see green links for the G9 and samples of its images also. The other camera has no review or images available. They are both almost a year old (announced the same day actually), so I'm not sure why the other model wasn't reviewed. Good luck with your camera purchase, and consider Fuji also - can't go wrong. My daughter's relatively cheap F20 pointer shoots at dusk with no flash and not in night mode either - and the images have such an ambient light increase that it looks like 5:00 instead of 7:45. That Fuji A510 I left in Bogota is still working perfectly after almost 4 years since I bought it, but it takes AA's... oh well, that ought to do ya. I get most of my news online these days at topix.net, which provides feeds from tons of different newspapers around the world. When I watch TV-based news, I usually check out MSNBC and CNN or BBC World News. Fox News caters to the right brainwashed "Bushies", and I can't watch that shite.
