Single mothers in Colombia - Middle-class reality

By the request of Paisa29 I am reposting my opinion about the topic of young Colombian single mothers looking for a foreigner partner. The thread was deleted and Paisa29 did not get to post his opinion. This is what I had to say:

This topic is interesting to me because I know several girls, friends and family members who have gotten pregnant before getting married. The common denominator of the cases I know is that the girls come from very good, middle-class, decent, conservative ...

Christmas in Colombia

I would love to hear what all of you who are living in Colombia now, and come from EEUU or Europe, think of the Christmas spirit in the Colombian cities. I love the way the streets are filled with pretty and colorful lights, the activities in the parks, etc. I think Bogota is a great Christmas destination. You can really experience the true meaning of the season there.
¡Feliz Navidad! ...

A very nice hotel in downtown Bogotá

Just wanted to tell all of you that are planning to go to Bogotá about a very nice, elegant and cozy hotel, located in old Downtown, in "La Candelaria" area. It's called "Hotel de la Opera". When I visit Bogotá, I go to eat at the restaurant located in the first floor of the hotel, "Restaurante la Scala". The food is great and the service excellent.
The hotel is just georgeus, finely decorated, located next to "Teatro Colón", the most important and oldest theatre in Bogotá. Check out ...

Would you go back to live in Colombia?

A question for all my Colombian compatriots living in other countries. If you had the opportunity to go back to Colombia to live, work and make a decent salary, would you do it? Would you leave all the comfort that for example the USA offers, to be around your loved ones and raise your family in our country? ...

American families living in Bogota?

I want to know if there are any Americans, maybe married to a Colombian, that have decided to leave the USA and move to Bogota with their families to establish a life there. I know there are many advantages of living in Colombia if you earn a good salary, like family support, help around the house, great places to visit, etc. But also know that there are many problems and the infrastructure is poor. Could you please share some of your experiences? We are thinking of moving to Bogota with our ki ...

Good salary to live well in Bogota?

We are thinking of moving to my City, Bogota to live. We are a family of 4, my husband, me, an 8 year old boy and a baby. I can make about $30 thousand dollars a year working as a contractor from there. My husband could teach Spanish at a private school. Is $30K dollars a year a good salary to buy an appartment, pay a good school, have a maid, etc. in Bogotá.
Thanks for any information you can give me.
