The airport security will direct you to the taxi stand as you exit it is relatively safe in Cartagena getting a taxi especially the airport. The taxis have a small white sticker on their doors with an airplane logo, which means they are approved to be of service at the airport. I believe it should be 10.000 pesos to the Decameron Hotel. I will also be in Cartagena on Jan 30th thru the 6th of Feb. Have fun and don't forget sunblock....

Taxi to hotel I have always arranged for the Hotel I am staying at to send a taxi for me, a bit more but it's worth the extra for peace of mind and security...I paid 35.000.00 pesos which is less than twenty dollars.

Money to Colombia.. Contact your bank about an international money transfer...
I've done it before and its relatively easy but there are certain fees and check with your Colombian Bank Branch and get all in writing...also if you are buying a property and hopefully guaranteed with a fidiciaria, which means insured by the bank to be given to the property owner upon completion of transaction....good luck

Hotel Capilla del Mar Seems to me it could be on the expensive list however, for the service and condition of the rooms its really not. Great people who see to your every need as requested. Remodeled last year with an additional elevator and internet in every room. Spectacular views with balcony facing Bocagrande beach. My stay was absolutely perfect as Capilla del Mar administracion was instrumental in addressing my concerns. Safe, secure and well located in Bocagrande 1st Ave and 9th St.....Highly recommended, just booked another stay Feb 7th til ????

Flea Market on Septima very near El Centro de downtown..
Chapinero area on Carracas Ave and 63rd is also a good but inexpensive place to shop for those items.

Digital Prints There is a Kodak Digital Print shop on 72nd and 9th next to foto japon practically. Also try the place called Unilago on 15th and 84th which is a computer mall, someoneone there can direct you to someone professional. I also noticed in El Centro near the Universities are some small mom and pop digital print shops.

ESL Certification I am interested in the position you offer. Fluent Spanish and English reading, writing and speaking. Currently working as a private Spanish tutor in the US. Thinking of enrolling in a TESL certification course to finish in October afterwhich I will be in Bogota. Will this certification be enough or are there any more requirements. I would like to finally end up in Cartagena as a tutor or teacher. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

I wish it were next month, however I am enjoying my remaining days in Philadelphia with my friends and family who most say they will come and visit. Did you buy to live for good or vacation ? Dreams are what make the future, Buena Suerte.....

Capilla Del Mar Hotel Bocagrande beach across the street, totally secure and excellent service. Two great restaurants and a plaza across the street with a different show every night, dancing musicians etc. GREAT views from the balconies...I have photos if interested....great neighborhood and everything is close by. Reasonable rates and package deals.

Assurance is from the "Fiduciaria" Bansuperior holds the money in escrow until the project is finished and delivered. I still have complete control of the monies paid into this account, which is still under my name. The building project manager and website report 93 percent sold out. If for some reason God forbid, the project does not complete my money is still with the bank all the while in a fund producing interest. I have complete faith in this project director and their company which is USA afilliated otherwise never would have considered the purchase.

Colombia to USA About 4 years ago I used a company called Aviatur. Everything from a 2 BR apt. From all packing to delivery in USA and unpacking with full inspection of which everything was perfect and a reasonable rate. Hope this helps

I understand your comment, however the project is on track as stated to me when I purchased. Information updates and fotos to assure things are what they are. I am keeping a keen eye on their progress
after all it is Colombia. If you happen by Terrazas del Mar located on tenth st and via del mar, tell me what you see and I would be most grateful. How long have you been in Cartagena ? Any regrets ?

Maybe he is the DR I know that lives now in the USA as a radio announcer. About 35-40 years pld and very short maybe 5 feet tall.

Buying in Cartagena Recently purchased a 2BR/2BA condo in Bocagrande, a 30 story luxury highrise condo project just starting construction. There are many projects to look and see and in all price ranges. Check out Juan Paul Realty as he is well recommended and very helpful. I dealt with Spazio Urbano, www.spazio urbano.com developer of the project.
The directora, Lina Morales is great and on top of everything. Please tell her Manuel referred you and I may receive a referral fee.
Good luck on your search and I recommend buying in Cartagena for many reasons.

From Bogota to Cartagena by Car... Did the trip last month....approx 16-18 HRS driving time...
Better to take at least two full days and stop for the night...
Road conditions are from great to bad in some areas. Great scenery and small "Barrios" to see and experience. I would travel with a native Colombian and plan your trip in advance and make your hotel reservations early.

Roadtrip to Cartagena Recently made a roadtrip 3 days from Bogota to Cartagena by car and visited many small towns and barrios. Trip of a lifetime, a must do ...dangerous...maybe..don't really know...but so is NYC and Philadelphia.
