Spanish question

I have a question and hope one of you can help me... I speak a few languages, and it was my understanding a dialect of a language- is completly different than the country language... For example..ITALIAN dialects...very different from actual Italian.. A co-worker is from El Salvador and she is telling everyone that all the Spanish speaking countries speak differnet dialects..grammar, vocabulary... I was under he impression that we all speak Spanish with different accents and slangs/pat ...

Shoe Size

Hello everyone.
I need to know if anyone knows how to convert Colombian shoe sizes to U.S. size..
I have looked at every show size converter, and it doesn't make sense.

My cousin tells me that my brother left him a pair of his sneakers this past Christmas from the U.S., the sneakers are American 9.5. My cousin states that in Colombia he is a 39.
I looked at every converter that Google and Yahoo offers, and the number's are not matching.
